The Story Of An Elf

Eyes of Lucigarden

Eyes of Lucigarden

Dec 26, 2023

**Some minor changes have been added to support the storyline.**

Heaven was a large city. It followed a military administration which kept things quite strict. As Heaven was divided into five parts, the knights brigade was divided into those five parts of Heaven. Likewise, the 1st and 5th brigade including another additional five smaller brigades.

The captain of each brigade was also considered the duke in charge of their respective divisions. For example, the second knights brigade oversaw western Heaven. Who controlled central Heaven was the First knights brigade. And it was under the direct supervision of the commander general who had power above all other captains, and above the general was the emperor.

Central heaven was where the imperial family resided. It was smaller in size compared to other divisions of Heaven, which was also located in the middle surrounded by a water body which worked as both added beauty and a moat. In its center was the imperial palace. And around it was a large orchard known as The Garden.

It was a cool sunny day. Sir Cedric walked along a shady pathway that fell through the garden of central heaven. A man in his late youth, brown hair, and quite tall figure. The fitting appearance for a knight. He was no captain. Just an ordinary knight of the sixth knights brigade taking care of magical beasts. Nor did he know to why he had been summoned. Cedric didn’t like the idea of getting to meet the captains of the 5 brigades, much.

Distant memories rushed in, as he looked through the well-maintained grass field of the garden. Himself with two others, an albino boy, and a blond elf, lying under a tree childishly giggling. While lost in the nostalgic memory, Cedrick heard a distant voice coming from his side.

A small girl came running in his direction.

"Princess stop, you'll get hurt!", shouted the maid chasing after her.

She was running at a speed she was not supposed to be running at, which caused her clumsy body to stumble and fall. Hopefully she fell right into Cedrick's hands.

"Princess!"

The maid's face went pale. Then suddenly freaked out to see Sir Cedric who was holding the little Princess.

"Are you okay?", Cedrick asked lifting the little girl.

The kid who had quite the long hair looked back up at him after clumsily shifting her snow-white hair behind her long pointy ear. Her golden eyes, which were like small gold coins, sent a chill down Cedrick's spine.

Now he was certain who this was. It was none other than Princess Annastasia. Those eyes... The eyes of Lucigarden.

[One year later]

In a quite spacious room, which was at first glance the room of a princess, lay on its large bed, our little Anastasia cozily asleep. Warm rays of sunlight entered through the slight openings of curtains that were covering the windows of her room. As they settled on her face, she sleepily turned around covering her face with the big blanket she was tucked into.

"It's time to wake up princess! ",

Jeanne slid open the curtains which filled Anna's room with bright daylight.

It had been 5 years since Ana had been reincarnated in her own story, at least she thinks..., but the scars left on her by her past life were still there. Most of all she hung on to her old personality. She was a bit enthusiastic while in baby form, but as her body matured, memories from her past life started gushing in. Ana or else Rukia despised those memories so much to the extent that they made her nauseous every time she remembered them. Due to this her emotions got numb, which resulted in the current emotionless princess.

She didn’t laugh, nor did she talk much. She stayed all day shut in her room. This behavior worried everyone.

Currently Ana was being fitted into a dress. She would normally eat breakfast in her night gown as she always took it in her room. But today it didn't seem she'd be getting her breakfast.

"What's with this dress Jeanne?", Anna asked with her ordinary low toned voice.

"Today...,", Jeanne said as she readied the dress, "...your highness shall be having breakfast at the main dining hall."

"Please bring the breakfast to my room."

"No can-do princess."

"Why not?"

"His majesties orders."

"Huh, Papa said?"

"Yes princess. Okay that'll do it."

"Oh my, your highness looks prettttty. Said another maid who was assisting Janne."

Anna looked at herself in the mirror. This girl sure was what you'd call a beauty.  With her pair of glimmering golden eyes, even at the age of 5 she looked like a doll. Might have been a trait from her mother, but she looked a bit older than her actual age.

Unlike your ordinary dining room, the royal dining room was a spacious hall. On the farthest corner of its huge table was a silver haired man dressed in formal attire (A white suit studded with many golden badges). He had red eyes which were fitting to an albino unlike, herself who had golden eyes. The way he was looking at her would scare off any little kid of her age, but this didn’t work with Anastasia who was more of a grown-up person inside. She just stood there still.

The man suddenly stood up and came towards the little elf. Jeanne seemed to back up and everyone else around (servants and royal guards) seemed so nervous. He was now right in front of her looking down upon her with his glowing red eyes. Then suddenly,

“Awww my cute little bunny! Comere, comere”, with that he lifted her up carrying her on his arms then gave her a small kiss on her cheek. “Well, isn’t she a cutie?”, he said out loud with a smile that brightened up the whole room. Lucico Lucigarden, The Emperor of Lumane, Ana’s father was such a person, and that was why she wasn’t the least bit afraid of him. Maybe it’s because of his age, Anna thought sometimes considering her father was still considerably young.

What made her a bit anxious was the fact of being the only elf in the room.

Ana kept her blank face. What emotion was she supposed to show? How was she supposed to react?  She didn't know. Lucico, her father let out a silent sigh then smiled brightly as ever again.

"Oh, right Ana, see what Lucius has brought you."

Ah yes, I got a little half-brother after all.

Ana just remembered the day her mother in this world passed away just a year ago. She remembered her mother's final words, how she smiled at her. Probably expecting her to smile back, just once.  A few months after her mother’s passing away her father had remarried, most probably due to the constat nagging of some so-called elders on his side of the family. She soon had given birth to a boy who was now standing in front of hers. The kid seemed to have great potential at that age. He’ll be the next successor for sure...

Her father placed her down. Now she was facing the small boy about a year younger than her. Her stepmom, the new empress didn’t seem to be there though. Probably busy with her load of work. She was the captain of the first knights brigade after all.

The small boy who looked like the exact mini version of his father, offered Ana a small paper rose. It was done out of blue paper as the petals and a green paper as the stem. Which was done so neatly, it seemed like a real one at first glance.

Anastasia took the paper rose handling it delicately. Without a word or a hint of expression in her face she patted the boy on his head and went for her seat. After that they had an awkward breakfast and Anna left the hall as soon as she finished eating. Lucius kept staring at his sister the whole time.

“Her little highness lives up to her name, doesn’t she?”, said the man standing beside Lucico. Toby, the emperors personal guard and aide.

“The emotionless princess…, only if Elda would have been here.”, Lucico said, then patted the head of the dejected little boy sitting next to him.

That day Anastasia thought of taking a small stroll around the palace area close to her room. Jeanne tagged along behind her.

They were walking through a large corridor with arched pillars. On the right was a small indoor garden with a fountain in its center.

Do they hate me? My father my brother...? Ana kept saying to herself. Or is it I that...

Just then the little princess paused. She clutched her stomach as if feeling terribly sick and crouched.

"Aaaa what's wrong your highness!"

Jeanne quickly came to her side supporting the frail little half-elven princess up. The sudden fit vanished away, no sooner it had come. What was that just now?

"Are you okay princess?"

Jeanne's face looked even paler than Anna's. She certainly was worried. Ana patted her shoulder with her small little hands and said, "I'm ok Jenne."

Then moving her gaze towards the garden on their right (which was an inner courtyard) she continued, "Shall we have some tea Jenne, here by the big fountain?"

Jeanne was taken aback by the princesses sudden request. She never had imagined hearing such a thing form her little mistress. Ana was never the person to ask for anything. At that moment, for some reason she just felt like she really wanted to have a nice tea with some sweet cookies there in the small courtyard beside the fountain.

Telling Ana to stay right there, Jeanne rushed off to bring what had been requested. Ana meanwhile made herself into the courtyard.

Now this was no ordinary courtyard, it was small in comparison to the palace but indeed was a large one. There were different varieties of flower beds planted in an orderly manner along with some small ornamental trees which added shade.

Ana headed towards the fountain. The noise its water made was sort of relaxing to her which made her a bit sleepy. She went closer and looked into the water at the bottom of the fountain. She saw her own reflection in it. After a small ripple she saw another reflection of her but a “her” that was no longer. A black-haired Japanese girl. A pathetic one. Her sight started becoming blurry. Small droplets of tears rolled down her cheeks.

"Only if I could forget all these miserable memories...", she said to herself, wiping the tears off her eyes.

Just as Anna was about to turn around, she noticed something odd inside the pond. Some sort of glowing blue light. Out of curiosity she made her face closer to the water.

"A glowing water nymph? No way..."

Suddenly the glowing thing shot out of the pond hitting Ana's forehead so hard, she was thrown backwards and landed on her back.

"Oww, what was that?", Ana said rubbing her forehead.

A miniature glowing globe which seemed as if made of some blue gas started revolving around Ana. After a few rounds it stopped right in front of her. Piqued by her curiosity, as she stretched out her hand to touch it, the glowing thing swiftly moved towards the hallway.

"Wait!"

The little princess ran after it.

Sincerely apologize for the month long hiatus. Was stuck with university stuff... You see, I'm doing an IT degree and I'm bad at math. *sobbs T T* So, had to take some time away from the novel.

Okay so talking about our story, we currently are in the prologue chapters, and is why they might be a bit dull and boring. Things shall escalate within the next few chapters including some heavy lore drops. Well then see you again by the end of volume one.

Wishing you all a belated merry Christmas and a happy new year!
