Markhor
true to his word returned with a bucket of water.
Will
couldn’t see it when he took the bucket, but Sapo discretely
dropped into it and Will set it off to the side.
“Be quiet.” Will warned.
Sapo said nothing and settled to the bottom. Despite being a bright white, it was really difficult to see the tiny dragon when in water. Like he blended into the sparkles of the light in the water.
William walked to the fountain and waved, “Hello?” He leaned to the right dodging a jet of cold water.
“Leave. Human.” The dragon’s shape was obscured by the fog and seemed to be wrapped around the fountain.
William stood his ground as the dragon snapped in his direction. Will got a good look at the dragon. It’s head was not much bigger, but what concerned him was the length.
Backing away from the dragon, shaking his head slowly Will muttered “That is a big dragon. I have an idea lets try the fish.”
“Why?” the slightly smarter of Markhor’s flunkies asked handing Will a pristine Redfish. Named for the red colour of it’s scales. It’s meat was disappointingly white.
“Well when someone is angry. Sometimes they’re just hungry.”
Markhor nodded wisely, “Seem’s smart”
Will approached carrying the fish. “Lets try this again dragon. Do you like fish?”
“I do.”
“Would you like to eat the fish?”
“I do.” Once again the dragon slinked out of the fog, every couple of paces the dragon dipped it’s body lower, slithering forwards along it’s wavy body, it’s head bobbing up and down it faced Will. It’s big circular eyes followed Will’s eyes, and though it’s body moved it kept it’s eyes level with Will’s.
Will slowly turned a bit to put some space between him and the dragon. The dragon glided slowly around encircling the Baker.
Will never took his eyes off it’s strange eyes. “Dragon. Why are you in the fountain?”
“This watercourse is mine.”
“Why did you come here?”
“I was exploring my underground tunnels and I discovered. This.” It’s head bobbed back and forth in a curious motion.
Will spun on his heel, he recognized a sneeze. Aimuzjon couldn’t breath fire, but her sneezes were very hot.
A jet of water distracted Will’s eyes and the dragon lunged grabbing the fish. As it struck it’s fangs swung out of it’s jaw and it snatched the fish.
“Oh no you don’t you big Scaly-” Will grabbed the dragon and pulled it back, “I want to talk with you.” He caught a loop of the dragon which was slithering away from him.
“Good bye human.”
William played a game with Aimu. Her scales pointed in only one direction. So if you ran you hand backwards along the dragon you got caught on them. Will slid his hand to the side like stretching dough. The dragon’s scales lifted and he caught the dragon still. Will hissed. Unlike Aimu who’s scales were dull and rounded this one’s were kinda sharp.
The dragon stopped struggled for a moment then swung loops of it’s body in Will’s direction. It spun around in his hands getting slicker and slimier. “Oh gross.” Will felt the dragon slip through hands and once again it’s body moved quicker and quicker.
Will pulled his hands back, leaping backwards to dodge a thrashing and razor sharp tail. He fell on his butt and stared at the fountain. A couple strands of red hair fell. From the top of his head to landing on his nose.
“Okey. Our turn.”
Will groaned. “It’s not going to work.”
Markhor nodded, “It’s not my decision.” He jabbed a thumb to a group of guards. They had long purple plume in their helmets and were heavier armed and armoured. “My boss showed up and is making executive decisions.”
“Markhor why is this peasant here?” A particularly fat man ordered.
“He’s just watching the show sir. Eager to see how the royal guards deal with the dragon.”
Will waved his hands, “Wait that dragon is really dangerous...” The royal guards completely ignored him and William reached out to grab the man’s shoulder.
Markhor pulled William back, “Don’t touch the lord.”
“He is going to get hurt!”
Markhor shrugged and pulled out a bottle taking a swig. “Let him get hurt. He’s not going to listen. Let’s just enjoy the show.”
