Their voyage in the Forsaken Space. A treacherous linear path between the kingdom of Antrell and his enemy, the kingdom of the nameless man. It had seen many battles, hopefully it would not see more...
Elash examined all of the colourful creatures and plants along the road. It did get boring with time but it was better than hearing the very literal hum of the forest. Trees bounced back and forth to the orchestra of the flora, their dried, green leaves vibrated making a variety of sounds. Serelay spent his time trying to get the captive to speak. The bony man did not entertain his nonsense. Serelay asked many foolish questions like, "How many harlots await you?". It went on for hours until Elash lashed out at him to stop the ignorant torture. He asked the man somberly about why him and his kingdom were hated so much
The man slowly collected the strength to breathe, "My name is Asher, I am a servant of the One True King. How about you two tell me why you are here." They answered with the same rehearsed spiel about duty, but he had another answer. "No, I believe you two were specially picked, by One greater than Antrell." His voice was surprisingly clear and strong. They did not know how to respond to his crazy claim. The man continued speaking, he said that their words came from what was in their hearts. Serelay's words were a product of his rotten heart. He scoffed at the idea, squirming in the wooden seat. "When your friend asks for help, it would mean more to that friend to see your eagerness to work than an annoyed attitude "
Elash rebutted by pondering if the work done was not enough. The man said that the work would be worthless after years but the impression of one's feelings makes a mark, especially since it was not mandatory. It woud be illogical to say you want to help someone but to grumble when you're finally asked. Still confused, Elash asked about the hypothetical of if he were able to do ten times the work, would that make up for his grumbling. The man answered quickly," No."
Hours later, Elash decided to stop the carriage since it was night. He helped the man off and started setting up camp absent mindedly. He still wondered on the true meaning of what the man meant. When he finished and Serelay started a fire, the three sat around it. They had travelled a large amount of the journey, a rest was definitely deserved.
In the kingdom of Trellia, many enjoy chasing luxuries and lavish goods. Few have to fight for the kingdom and its psychotic king Antrell, even though they are helped by magical abilities he gives it wears away at one's soul. Elash and Serelay have a big job that'll take all they have but it might be easier than following Antrell's leadership.
