Until The Desired End

UTDE Chapter 19-The Reveal(1)

UTDE Chapter 19-The Reveal(1)

Dec 29, 2023

It took a few seconds of me powering my core before the Edirem in the room started rushing towards me.

As the Edirem rushed through me I felt a the same heat I felt when I first created my pseudo core, but unlike before there was no throbbing sensation in my veins.

Instead my body felt lighter and my mind clearer, I don't know if this was a side effect of the over whelming amount of Edirem flowing through me or simply the benefits of my blessed core but regardless it was a pleasant feeling.

I continued taking in the Edirem and cycling it through my body for quite sometime until I heard Mr.Kingsley voice through the intercom.

"Alright try to stop the flow of Edirem to your core now, if you can't we will have to forcibly pull it out."

I had no problem stopping the flow of Edirem since I have been practicing cycling Edirem through me for two years now but I was curious on how they could forcibly stop it.

'Vee, how would they forcibly stop the flow of Edirem'

'[It's most likely done by decreasing the Edirem concentration in the room to a point were the concentration of Edirem in your body is higher than the concentration in the room]'

'Oh and so the Edirem would naturally flow out of me, simple enough.'

'[Precisely]'

"Good, you seem to be a natural when it comes to Edirem control it usually takes a while for most kids to be at a level were they can stop the flow of Edirem on command like that."

I looked through the glass panel smiled, and nodded at Mr.Kingsley since I was pretty sure no one could hear me on the other side anyways.

'Zinnias, even though we are done with the first test stay where you are just in case.'

'I planned on doing just that.'

"Okay we got good readings for this test, as well as your ancestry test. We have narrowed down your possible abilities to two so we will run a few physical test now to determine what's your ability."

I nodded to Mr.Kingsley to acknowledge that I understood what was going on and to that he smiled.

"Alright the test will be simple first the pressure test."

The moment he finished his sentence an insurmountable amount of pressure pressed down on me.

It happened so fast that I felt my knees crack before hitting the ground, I don't know if this feeling was due to me being in a Childs body or not but I fully believed that even regular adult would succumb to this pressure.

1,2,3 I don't know how many minutes passed but as time went on the pressure on my body slowly receded, after what I could only guess was 10 minutes I felt completely relieved from the pressure and could stand up normally, walk around, and jump with no resistance.

I thought that maybe whatever test Mr.Kingsley was doing was over but that didn't look to be the case as shown by the surprise faces of my mother and father on the other side of the glass.

My grandfather on the other hand was trying to act indifferent but I could see hints of a smile forming on his lips.

"Lue, do you not feel any pressure bearing down on you right now."

I shook my head, and began moving and jumping around to show that I wasn't lying.

"Okay that's enough, this next test should be the last here we will simply be testing your current strength level."

After a few seconds one of the black panels on the wall to the right of me opened up and out of it came something that resembled a dumbbell came out.

I say resemble because on the dumbbell instead of engraved number on each side of the weights, there were two digital screens that displayed the number 1Kg on them.

"I want you to pick up the dumbbell and drop it you don't have to curl it or use one hand just try to pick it up, drop it and repeat till you can't."

I walked up to the Dumbbell and picked it up with both hands and dropped it, after witch the number on both sides changes from 1Kg to 2Kg.

I repeated this until the number 50Kg showed up, and while I struggled to lift it up the first time it became easier to do the second time but I couldn't get it up.

"Okay that's enough you can take off the suit and come back into the room."

When I entered the room my mother picked up Bridgett from her chair and sat her on her lap to make room for me to sit.

"I have to say Lue that was impressive, your body is much more built than what's normal for someone your age, even taking into account your awakened blessed core."

"Thank you, um so what is my ability?"

"Straight to the point huh, so after running your blood test and seeing who your grandfather is it's pretty clear that the Raines bloodline runs deep in you and your ability show's this."

He showed me the results of the test on a tablet, and while I have never run test for supernatural ability in grad school, the result seemed similar to results you would get in DEXA or EMG test, which are test run to determine muscle density and responses.

"And if you look at the bottom of all the data you will see line graphs that have three different lines the red line is your data, the green is the average for blessed core user, and the orange is the average for strength based blessed core users."

After looking at the graphs I could tell that while my physical capabilities were great that was compared to non strength based blessed core users.

"So is my blessed core ability not something like enhanced strength."

"No, it's not instead it something called adaptability, someone in your family actually has this ability their name is." He ripped his head towards his computer screen to refresh his memory before continuing"Jeffrey Raines."

"That's would be my son and your uncle."

My grandfather for the first time since we entered the room has spoken, and I thought that would have been the end of it but sadly it wasn't.

"He has the blessed core ability lesser adaptability, it allows for the human body to adapt to mostly anything which means that if you have a certain level of exposure to things like poison, and extreme temperatures you can naturally acclimate to it so that it won't effect you."

"You are correct Mr.Raines but that is the case for lesser adaptability, Lue has the blessed core ability Greater adaptability, which is the higher variant of the one your son has."

My grandfathers eyed me curiously before looking at my mother, but before he could say anything else I joined the discussion.

"Um, so what exactly is the difference."

"Well you should be able to acclimate to the condition your grandfather mentioned, but you should only need to be exposed to it once for your body to adapt to it."

"Also greater adaptability will give you an unnatural level of flexibility as long as you continuously stretch your limbs, on top of this your circulation of Edirem should become more and more refined as your body gets used to it."

The more I hear about this ability the more I look forward to testing it out but it doesn't seems like he is finished.

"But the biggest difference between the lesser and greater adaptability is that with greater adaptability not only your body but also your mind should be able to adapt to different situation increasing the rate at which your mind grows."

That was the biggest bonus that I needed, currently my mind was lagging behind my consciousness due to my mental age gap but if I could use greater adaptability to have my mind adapt to my consciousness it would help me get rid of that lag.

"Overall it's a pretty good ability and if utilized properly you should be able to do great things, I look forward to your future."

"I hope I can live up to your expectations." I said with a smile

My mother rubbed my back, while my father gave me a big smile, and my sister started clapping, amidst the joyous celebration from the Corner of my eye I could see my grandfather with a mischievous smile.

"This is great really, your son can now properly carry on the duties that you couldn't, it would only make sense that I take him in and foster his abilities wouldn't it."

The previous joyous atmosphere changed to one of an oppressive nature but I was personally fed up with this mans continuous arrogant attitude, but before I could say anything Mr.Kingsley interrupted.

"Well you will have to continue this discussion another time, for know Lue needs to head towards were the ceremony and class will take place I will escort you now since we are on a tight schedule."

My grandfather showed clear disdain towards Mr.Kingsley interruption but he couldn't complain or refute anything since going to the ceremony was something I had to do alone.

After we left the room in a quite mumble I said "Thank you."

Mr.Kingsley simply looked at me and patted my back.

"Well lets hurry along now as to not be late."

January, 1 2021 it was on this day that everything changed, what started off as a normal new years day took a turn for the worse when the mysterious species later named Astrals invaded all of earth and wiped out the vast majority of human life, leaving a small worldwide population of 100,000 to defend for themselves.

In the midst of this due to the love god had for the human race as well as the guilt God felt for allowing their failed creation the Astrals to accomplish this genocide, they bestowed upon the few remaining humans blessed cores.

These blessed cores would give humans a fighting chance against the Astrals and usher the start of the revolution. Among the 100 of thousands blessed cores seven of them stood out they were:

Godly marksmen and extreme perception held by the siblings Ryan and Shanna Locks respectively

Rune-smith held by Lewis Kalter

Black hole held by James Lepsen

Manager of Life held by Tristen lang

Holy Saint held by Miranda Klein

And lastly the main protagonist of the story Arima Higashio user of the Universal swordsmanship blessed core

These seven humans would go through a fulfilling, heart wrenching, emotion packed journey to reclaim earth from the invaders and defeat the Astral monarch....

At least that's how I wrote the story to be yet here I am 200 years after the end of the story trying to figure out how to reach my new desired end.
