Mark Johnson opened the door and walked in, followed by Emma Wilson.
"Hey, Lily, you're awake?" When Mark opened the door, he saw Lily moving on the hospital bed and quickly approached her.
Hearing Mark's voice, Lily on the bed stiffened, then struggled to sit up despite her pain.
"Ouch, Lily, you're not feeling well, don't get up," Mark said, putting a thermos on the table and supporting her.
Lily felt repulsed by Mark's touch and pushed him away with all her remaining strength.
Mark, taken aback by the seemingly frail Lily's strength to push him away, stumbled and was steadied by Emma behind him.
Emma concealed her disgust for Mark, speaking softly, "Be careful."
Hearing Emma's tender words, Mark's attention returned to her, almost floating, gazing at her affectionately.
Emma stepped past him and approached, "Lily, a friend at the hospital told me you were admitted. Are you okay?" She sat down in the chair in front of the bed.
"What happened suddenly? Why were you hospitalized?" Emma feigned ignorance.
"Ever since James took you home after finding out about you and Mark... I haven't seen you. Tell me, why are you hospitalized suddenly? What happened?"
Lily looked coldly at Emma, thinking she was quite the actress. "You don't know why I'm hospitalized?"
James had just left, and they came in. Could they be ignorant?
"And, how did Mark and I end up in the same bed? Aren't you clearer about this than me?"
Emma widened her eyes, then looked hurt, "Lily, how can you say that? I went out to change my clothes, and you were asleep. My colleague asked me to bring documents down, and when I came up, I met an angry James. Then I saw you with Mark."
"Heh, why did I fall asleep? Why did Mark appear there, lying in bed with me? Why did James suddenly come?"
"Just to deliver clothes, which could have been brought to your company. Why go to a hotel? If this wasn't premeditated, how could there be so many coincidences?" Lily regretted trusting Emma too much and not being suspicious earlier.
"Emma, I must have been blind not to have seen your true colours earlier," Lily said coldly.
"Lily, you're misunderstanding me. I must have forgotten to tell you; I dirtied my clothes at a partner's company and waited in the nearest hotel. As for why Mark and James also happened to be in that hotel, I don't know. Lily, you have to believe me," Emma pleaded tearfully, grabbing Lily's hand.
Lily forcefully withdrew her hand, "Such a flawed explanation, even you wouldn't believe."
"I've said it before, we are no longer friends. Please leave, I don’t want to see you again."
"Lily." Emma tried to grab Lily's hand again but was coldly rejected.
Emma glanced at Mark with a hurt face, "Fine, I'll leave. Don't get upset, Mark, take good care of Lily, I'm going back."
