You Are the Cinnabar in My Heart

I'll make you whole

I'll make you whole

Dec 29, 2023

But he didn't realise that by the time he ran out, Lily was long gone, and it was pouring outside.

Mark Johnson stood in the doorway looking at the pouring rain and cursed.

Lily escapes Mark Johnson's house and runs to her and James Carter's wedding room. The cold rainwater had seeped through her clothes and skin, tingling her every nerve.

It took three hours of running in the pouring rain before she finally made it home, soaked to the bone, her exposed skin already black and purple from the cold, her whole body shivering all the time, even taking a key out of her pocket seemed to take all her life's strength.

The keyhole was right in front of me, but my hands were shaking so much that I couldn't insert it, and it took me five minutes to insert the key into the keyhole.

The door opened, but the eye was full of messy clothes and the ambiguous gasping sound that did not fit with the pouring rain outside the door.

Lily kept pushing the door open, staring at the scene in front of her with disbelief.

James Carter was leaning back on the sofa, his suit trousers unbuttoned and unzipped underneath, and Emma Wilson was sitting on top of James Carter with a pouty look on her face, wearing only her underwear.

The two men heard the door open and looked round to see Lily standing in the doorway, soaked and in disarray, staring at them in shock.

The moment James Carter saw Lily, a flash of panic crossed his mind, and he violently pushed Emma Wilson away and began to button and zip.

"Lily, let me explain."

Lily shook her head in disappointment, tears mingling with the rain falling as she turned and ran out the door.

She knew that James Carter loved her; it was just that he was too possessive and suspicious of her, so the two of them would always have all sorts of misunderstandings; only what she didn't expect was that he would betray her, and that person was still her best friend.

For a moment, she felt that the whole world had collapsed, and she had lost two critical people to her simultaneously.

She didn't want to believe her husband would get involved with her best friend. He said he wanted her to stay away from Emma Wilson, but he......

The coldness of the rain drenching her body wasn't even as bad as the disappointment in her heart and the difficulty of coming over that was too much for Lily to bear; the pain was enough to take her breath away.

"Lily, listen to my explanation; things are not what you see." James Carter, who had caught up with her, grabbed Lily's arm in both directions, desperate to explain.

"I saw what happened. Do you still want to open your eyes?" Lily cried out, and the pouring rain couldn't wash away her sadness.

"What you see isn't always true."

"I only believe what I see." Lily struggled, "I only believe what I see. Don't you ever explain it again; I don't want to hear it and believe it."

At this moment, James Carter finally realised what it meant to have a hard time; it wasn't what she saw.

He suddenly thought of Lily and Mark Johnson; were they not what he saw? Maybe he should give Lily another chance to explain and try to believe her.

"Get a divorce, I'll make it happen!"

James Carter anxiously tightened his circle around Lily, "Don't you dare repeat those two words!"

"Divorce, divorce, divorce, you guys can be together openly and honestly once we're divorced; I never thought you would betray me together. Why? Why?" Lily cried uncontrollably and pounded her hands on James Carter's chest.

James Carter gripped Lily's hand tightly and gritted his teeth, "I'll repeat it; she and I are not what you see!"

Lily was furious; she hadn't expected James Carter to be still lying even now, her eyes filled with disappointment in him.
