Xiao Yi’s head tilted in confusion as his view of the stream was interrupted by a hand.
Although he couldn’t see his brother's reaction, the audience would clip this scene later. Xiao Qiu’s aghast expression as he looked back and forth between the stream that showed a lone Xue standing in the middle of the arena in the last few moments of the game, and Xiao Yi.
The barrage was equally as shocked.
[We finally heard him speak!]
[!!!!]
[Sleeping God’s first words were ‘fuck, that’s sexy’… Who taught him those words!]
[Q’s teaching his brother weird things!]
[SG perfectly vocalized my inner thoughts, new spirit animal.]
Xiao Yi raised one of his hands and parted Xiao Qiu’s finger to look through the crack, only to see the game finally send the players back to the victory screen which showed that Solar won. He sighed in disappointment and leaned back.
He wanted to see more.
Xiao Qiu looked down at his brother in deep thought but removed his hand to finish up the stream.
Did his brother like people like Xue?
Was Xue going to be his brother-in-law?
Although he liked Xue as a person and professional player… What if he hurt Xiao Yi?
He wasn’t ready to let his cute little brother fly the coupe!
With Xiao Yi’s personality, Xiao Qiu had never had to think about his younger brother being stolen by some greasy man or woman. In fact, he thought his brother was asexual because he’d never been in a relationship or talked about falling in love.
Although there were rumors about him and Chen Qiang in their childhood the two men never dated so they were only chalked up to be rumors.
Now that he thought about it further - did they date? Chen Qiang was the person who understood Xiao Yi’s personality most…
When they were younger and someone asked Xiao Yi a question, Chen Qiang would glance over at the younger one and examine his face for a moment before he answered for him - Xiao Yi would always nod in agreement to the answer, too!
Xiao Yi would be expressionlessly sitting, minding his own business and Chen Qiang would appear out of nowhere, take a look at him, and say. “He’s hungry.”
“Xiao Yi wants to know where the bathroom is.”
“He thinks you’re an idiot.”
“He refuses your confession.”
“Can you shut up? He has a headache.”
His mind ran in circles and his face became more complex as he looked at his younger brother.
Xiao Yi didn’t know his thoughts but if he did he’d definitely stare at him like he was an idiot and say. “Idiot, I thought the pentakill and ice blades were sexy.”
Although he was the first person to show off the seventh form of the ice blades in worlds, there weren’t many who could afterward. Players would usually stop at the fifth or sixth stage in fear of not having a move at all in a tournament. When a player couldn’t hit even the last key in time their entire move would be worthless, there would be a cool down, and they would have exposed themselves to the enemy.
To be that confident… Xue must have spent hours upon hours practicing. He finally had a kin! On top of that - he was also an assassin!
Chen Qiang… He also couldn’t explain how he could understand him so easily. There were some points he thought that sunny-faced boy could read his mind. Despite that, they didn’t date or have any romantic feelings for one another.
[Q Shen looks like he’s just walked his brother down the wedding aisle.]
[Will Xue be part of the family register soon?]
[Will Xue be part of the family register soon?]+1 [Does he know?]
[Are we witnessing love?]
Xiao Qiu coughed lightly and directly bypassed the conversation. “For those who are watching for the first time or coming in late, the worlds have ended with Solar bringing home the trophy. The next few minutes will just be replays clipped from the match while the teams pack up and get ready to go on stage.”
[It’s already replaying… The shock made Q Shen dumb.]
Xiao Yi had already slept most of the day away so he continued watching the stream with the audience and his brother since he didn’t particularly feel like moving. He grabbed a pillow and placed it between his curled-up legs and his stomach, hugging it as he leaned on the arm of the sofa.
While doing so, he mentally prepared himself to see one of his childhood friends for the first time in four years.
He could have just walked away, but he found himself unable to find a reason why he should avoid even seeing his previous friends through a computer screen.
He had avoided them like the plague for four years for what?
His friends were obviously doing good without him which was what he wanted to happen.
Why had he been moping around for four years?
Just why had he been feeling regret, anger, betrayal, sadness… He was the one who signed the contract and didn’t explain to them. Why should he feel betrayed?
They were right in feeling that way, but Xiao Yi had no right to feel those emotions.
His avoidance of his previous teammates impacted his own brother's career, and that's when he realized how childish he’d been. They’re esports players, his brother is an esports player and streamer, and he’s a previous captain. There’s no reason to avoid them to this extent.
Xiao Qiu just let the replays play without commentary as he’d already said most of what he wanted to say, but what surprised both brothers was the fact Xue’s last move was added into the highlights as MVP of the night despite the forfeit.
The live stream switched at that moment, and the wide stadium packed with fans cheering came into the frame before the camera panned to the stage where Hei Lu stood next to a large trophy holding a microphone that could be passed around. “What a way to end this year's worlds!”
