Five
“Hey Quincy, get up!” Even though I did everything right yesterday, I’ve woken back up at Amber’s place again. I decide to do everything the same as last time, but even faster and even better. It’s not even dark yet when I get home. When I do get home, I have an idea: what if I’ve got to be awake until the new day starts? Instead of going to sleep, I put my favourite show on and sit down on my ugly sofa, hoping that it will keep me awake. I’m distracted, though, and I don’t laugh at any of the jokes or cry when the main character’s dog dies. I’m not really paying attention, because tomorrow, I’m going to wake up in my own bed, on a Monday morning. I’ve just got to stay awake until then.
Two-thirds of the way through episode fourteen, something strange happens. A complete stranger who I feel like I’ve met before appears in my living room in a flash of pink light.
“Hullo, Quincy,” Says the person. They wave at me, glance at their watch, and then they vanish as quickly as they came. Very odd, but I can’t exactly say that I’ve never done the same. I wonder how I recognize them… I don’t remember falling asleep, but I wake up at Amber’s place again the next morning nonetheless.
