In the deep, dreamless darkness, I find myself floating, a sensation of ease enveloping me as if I'm lying on a bed of satin strips gently cradling me. Within the soft folds, I am being grasped and caressed allowing me to sink deeper and more relaxed. Yet, it didn't stop it only got more and more violent. I am surrounded by hands and smothered with blankets, feeling its tight embrace constricting me, making it difficult to even breathe or move freely.
The darkness seems to protest against something, crying out and thrashing against me as I attempt to push it away. It clings desperately, reluctant to let go. Scratching clawing, grabbing with limp hands but gradually, it begins to recede, lashing and grasping to the very last, but slowly yielding its grip.
"Gaaassssp!" I took in a harsh, rasping breath as the darkness receded from my vision, though the side remained blurred. A figure was holding me by the throat, its grip tightest around the front making it hard to breathe. As I pulled in another labored breath he came into clearer view. Whos this? Adam, why is he here? Who is he? What is he doing to me? His expression is one of pure malice and hate is this still a dream? My thoughts were cut off by his declaration.
"Don't worry I'll deal with you next."
Tossing me back ward by my neck my scream was swiftly drowned out by the clash of thunder. I was unable to see its origins as even with the empty road and the clear night sky in my view I couldn't see anything that could have caused such a sound. Softly coming to an abrupt halt a slow warmth filled me and calmed my mind. Looking up I saw Hannah, her gaze focused intently on where I came from.
"You need to watch." Her voice was slow and soft, as I lowered my head to see what was happening.
Adam was standing in a cross-armed stance having blocked a punch from a man in a black suit. His figure near identical to the last one I saw. Taking what should have been a small step back he was launched into the air. He pulled and flourished a hunting knife from the back of his belt. As it left the sheath it flickered with a red light and shifted into a bastard longsword. The same one from the first time we met. He started gleaming all over from the heel of his shoe to the tip of his sword and finally, his sword began to bleed? What? The slightly darkened blood started covering the sword from tip to guard dripping slightly but leaving no stains.
In response, the suited man began to levitate and unfold. His pristine suit first unraveled in a mesmerizing, overlapping motion causing both his suit and his appearance to fade as if drained of color. Leaving him resembling a bare and featureless statue, shimmering like one sculpted from aluminum. It began mimicking movements like those of a marionette as it extended its hand, palm upturned.
From his outstretched palm, a metallic rod began to materialize, like it was a T-1000 releasing a stored weapon. It took shape and fell into his open hand, gradually extending to the length of his arm. As the figure firmly gripped the rod, it suddenly ignited into a roaring flame. A sword! It was a Flaming Sword! Its core was metal but the true edge was the roaring flame that enveloped it. The figure's grip tightened around the hilt as he intercepted Adam who change him as soon as he touched the ground, cracking it like a thin sheet of ice underneath his heel.
"What.. What The hell is that!?" I was all I could to not shout, afraid to draw its attention.
"A demon or a fallen angel if you prefer to call it that." The matter-of-factness in Mandella's confused voice almost made this sound normal, but in all fairness, this was my second time seeing one. Wait it is? When ... Again the sound of thunder began to ring out louder than in their last clash, Pulling me out of my confusion and back to the clash in front of me. Sparks were extinguished and blood was set alight with each meeting of their blades. After a few more clashes start pushing the demon back and a hectic overhead swing from Adam with his bleeding sword causes the demon to begin retreating. It was like he was pulled back by his strings, Its body was still facing forward, eyes still on us, back into a shadow of the cloudy night. Clouds? What's Happening?
Just before my attention was fully drawn upwards I saw it. The Demon this massive shining figure with a glowing sword of flames was dissipating into the darkness. As soon as a part of his body was behind a shadow he began to fade out of sight or maybe eaten by the darkness I was still unsure. In a moment of stillness a started to smile these guys had won they had driven that thing off. The boer seun turned slowly to us. With a burst of light like a lightbulb shattering at his feet he disappeared too.
not a moment later a clash of blades was above my face the fire blood and new green energy clashed before he reached out into the open space beside us. He grabbed nothing, that was wrong, he grabbed at something, the Figure of the creature appeared from right where his hand was, he grabbed onto the right wing of the demon and threw him over his shoulder away from us.
With an exaggerated roll dodge the demon fully recovered and unfurled its wings fully then with a single flap it launched like a bolt of lightning flying from the land to the sky. The boer seun looked up like he was deciding if he could pursue it into the sky. Could he fly? No, he crouched down and his blade started hemorrhaging more blood as he gripped it tighter with both hands. A Rumbling of thunder filled the sky with more clouds in an instant as if they were being called forth from out of nowhere. Just as suddenly three bolts of lightning more violent than any natural lightning I had seen struck out unprovoked at the demon. but he dodges two they faded harmlessly before reaching the ground and parries the third opening up his side.
"Bloedskulp Dun" Adam shouted and slashes from what should be far out of his blade's reach. As he swings his blade with all the blood concentrated at the edge a thin Dark blood red line no thicker than string traces an arc through the darkness catching the demon's side before he can bring its sword down to catch it. The wound on its side was bloodless but cut deep into his side. The demon focuses on it as it tries to pull itself back together but much to its shock it can't.
The girl behind me started lifting her hands as a green burst of energy burst out from her going out. it carried on expanding till it reached what looked like an area no larger than a rugby field, around us the air was now shimmering with green light. Tilting up I saw Hannah's hand facing the sky as the green light began flowing out like ribbons strengthening the cage surrounding us. locking the sky away from the demon and leaving a platform for Adam who launched up to the new foothold in the sky. Wasting no time he kicked off the new roof, lunging forward to the demon who only then realized what was happening but wasn't able to react in time as it was still focused on its wound.
Plummeting to the ground like skydivers without parachutes their impact into the road created a large hole a pothole if you will. The green cage instantly began shirking around us to about half its previous size. large enough to encompass us and hole comfortably. Mandella walked up next to us as this was happening. a sight glow around his body.
"You're going to want to see this." he said reaching out his hand I accepted and began standing up. a sense of relief and power washed over my body different than the relaxation and healing from Hannah. Who was at the hole in less time than it took me to stand up. He lead me over to the pit where Adam was standing with his foot on the demon's head who how looked as helpless as a kitten.
"In the Name of Jesus Christ, I command you tell me, who and where your Master is!" Adam Commanded it was so powerful. Even I felt compelled to answer even though I didn't even know how I got here.
"I Dont Know Ether." This was the first time it spoke during the whole fight even when it was caught in its side it it was silent. its voice it sounded soft like the low crackle of a fire it was almost comforting if not for its tone. It was like venom to the ears mocking and taunting Adam with its dismissal.
"But I do know he is much smarter than you, you know just go back to whatever hole you crawled out of before it is too late." Again more venom, more mockery it became hard to listen to even from where I was I was surprised Adams's ears didn't start bleeding.
"Not a bad idea." The demon and I were stunned silent not from his words but his tone he was planning something. Adam began glowing dimly at first then as bright as the midday sun causing me to recoil even though the two next to me seemed fine.
"Our Father Who Art in Heaven Hallowed be Thy Name, i come to you today..."
"NOOOOOoooo!!!" a scream like the roar of a jet engine burst forth, drowning out most of what Adam was saying. I was able to stand there without running away in fear. But it helped that Mandella had yet to let my hand go.
"Return to the bowls of sheol foul being. Leave in the name of Jesus Christ." with his final declaration the light that was so bright from his body disappeared like a light switch. Leaving them in a darkened pit. This darkness was hungry it began wrapping up and pulling the demon but dispersed around Adam till he was alone.
Adam was left silence, not moving from his position for maybe half a minute. Straightening up he inhaled deeply and held it for another half a minute before turning to face us standing above the pothole. Slowly lifting his index finger he pointed at me.
"Time to Deal with You."
