Franzlie's brow furrowed as she pondered what urgent matter her father could possibly have to tell her. Her heart was pounding hard, and she felt a strange sense of foreboding. She brushed her hair as she stepped out of the car and made her way to the study room, where her father was waiting for her.
As she walked down the hallway, she could hear her father's voice coming from inside the room. He sounded worried, and Franzlie's heart sank. She took a deep breath and opened the door.
Her father was sitting at his desk, his head in his hands. When he saw her, he looked up and his face was pale. "Franzlie," he said, "there's something I have to tell you."
Franzlie's heart was racing now. "What is it, Dad?" she asked.
"I am truly sorry that I am the one to cause you pain. I am heartbroken too. However, I believe that it is best that you hear the truth from me. You are not my biological daughter. I adopted you from the orphanage that you used to visit."
"My dearest daughter, I beg of you, do not hate me for telling you this. You have a right to know the truth about yourself."
Arthur felt devastated as he gazed at her. His heart was torn into a million pieces. This was the moment he had been dreading: revealing the identity of her daughter.
Franzlie was taken aback by her father's revelation. She had always thought of him as her biological father, and now she was learning that he was not. She felt betrayed and confused, but she also loved her father. He had raised her and loved her as his own, and that was all that mattered to her.
"I love you, Dad," she said. "No matter what."
Her father smiled and hugged her. "I love you too, Franzlie."
Franzlie knew that her life would never be the same after this revelation, but she was determined to make the best of it. She knew that her father loved her, and that was all that mattered.
Her father left the room, and Franzlie sat down on the couch. She put her head in her hands and started to cry. She didn't know what to do. She was scared and confused.
After a few minutes, she stood up and walked over to the window. She looked out at the street below, but she didn't see anything. Her mind was blank.
Having composed herself, Franzlie left the study room and ascended to her room. As soon as she entered, she gazed upon the luxury bestowed upon her by her adopted father. The room was large and spacious, with high ceilings and tall windows that let in plenty of natural light. The walls were painted a soft blue, and the furniture was all made of expensive wood.
There was a large bed in the center of the room, covered with a plush duvet and pillows. A dresser, nightstand, and desk were also in the room, all of which were neatly arranged. Franzlie smiled as she looked around her room.
She was so grateful to her adopted father for giving her such a wonderful life. Even her adopted siblings spoiled her to such an extent. They always bought her the latest clothes and toys, and they took her on expensive vacations. Franzlie knew that she was lucky to have such a loving and supportive family.
A soft knock at the door pulled her back to reality. She had been sitting in her room, staring out the window and thinking about the future. She had always dreamed of traveling the world, but now that her father was sick, she wasn't sure if she would ever get the chance.
"Come in," she said in a low voice.
The door opened, and the maid entered. She was a young woman with dark hair and eyes. She had been working for the family for many years, and she was like a member of the family.
"Miss, your father requests that you bring your house certificate and your travel documents to the lanai, where he is currently meeting with your brothers," the maid said politely, relaying her father's message.
The girl nodded. She knew what this meant. Her father was going to ask her to marry one of his friends' sons. She had been dreading this day for years. She didn't want to marry someone she didn't love, but she knew that she had no choice. Her father was the head of the family, and his word was law.
She took a deep breath and stood up. She walked over to the dresser and opened the top drawer. She took out her house certificate and her travel documents. She put them in a folder and then walked out of the room.
She walked down the hall and out onto the lanai. Her father and her brothers were sitting at a table, talking. They looked up when she entered.
"Father," she said, bowing her head.
"I have called you here today because I have something important to discuss with you," her father said. "As you know, I am getting older, and I am not able to take care of the family business as well as I used to. I have decided that it is time for me to step down and let one of my sons take over."
He turned to his sons. "I have decided that the eldest son , Achlys will be the new head of the family," he said.
Achlys stood up and bowed to his father. "I am honored to accept this responsibility," he said.
"I know that you will do a good job," his father said. "Now, there is one more thing. I have also decided that it is time for you to get married."
Franzlie's heart sank. She knew what was coming next.
"I have already chosen a husband for you," her father said. "He is the son of one of my friends, and he is a very good man. I know that you will be happy together."
The girl looked at her father in disbelief. She couldn't believe that he was doing this to her. She didn't want to marry someone she didn't love.
"But father, I don't want to get married yet," she said.
"The marriage has been arranged," her father stated. "I am aware that you do not want to marry yet, but I do not want you to waste your youth working and helping me and your brothers. We want you to be happy too and to enjoy your time with your husband."
Franzlie knew that there was no point in arguing with her father. He had made up his mind, and there was nothing she could do about it.
"I will do as you say, father," she said.
"I knew you would," her father said proudly. "Now, go and get ready. Your husband-to-be will be here soon for dinner."
Franzlie bowed her head before her father and siblings, speaking with a quiet but determined voice.
"Father, Achlys, Llyr, Xanth, Rhory, I know this is not unexpected, but I will accept your decision for me. In this way, I can repay all of you for giving me a good life and everything I have now. I know that I am not the eldest, but I am the only daughter, and I hope that you will allow me to do this for you. I love you all very much, and I will always be here for you."
Franzlie's father, a tall and imposing man, placed his hand on her head.
"We know you will, daughter. You have always been a good girl, and we know you will make us proud."
Franzlie's siblings, all older than her, smiled at her.
"We're proud of you too, Franzlie," said Achlys, the eldest. "You're the bravest of us all."
"We'll miss you," said Llyr, the second-eldest. "But we know you have to do this."
"We'll be here for you when you get back," said Xanth, the third-eldest.
"We're family," said Rhory, second to the youngest. "We'll always be there for each other."
Franzlie smiled back at her siblings. "Thank you," she said. "I love you all."
She turned to her father again. "I'm ready," she said.
Her father nodded. "Very well," he said. "We will leave tomorrow morning."
Franzlie nodded. "I'm ready," she said again.
She knew that she was about to embark on a new journey, but she was determined to see it through. She was doing this for her family, and she would not let them down.
"You are all giving me a heart attack!" Franzlie exclaimed to her father and siblings.
"First it was Papa with his revelation, and now you are all giving me more shock after shock. I don't know how I will handle this anymore. Honestly, I knew one day this would come, that you would all gang up on me like this, because you all want to see me cry. But you will not succeed, not even in the slightest."
Franzlie smirked at her family.
“Hahahaha!!! Papa we got caught” Rhory spilled it laughing and all of them laughed hard.
