I frowned, but nodded. We didn't have time to go into all of that.
"So, what's our plan then?" I asked.
Both men looked at me.
"I said, What. Is. The. Plan. We have a war to prepare for. Are you really going to keep hiding information from me?"
I crossed my arms over my chest and stared down both men. I didn't know either of them well, but I was not going to let them push me around either. Isaac broke out his shock first, and gave me the first true smile I'd seen from him. The familiarity washed over me.
"As my Lady insists," he said as he gave me a mocking bow.
"You know that we are on the way to the war council. Truthfully, it's a front," Aodhan was blunt. "The people who are meeting are part of a resistance group. We're actively working against the force that is taking over the people of Nachtmoor."
"There's less of us every day," Isaac cut in. "We are losing members to the darkness and there's a scant few of us left."
Arden walked in with two bowls in hand, setting one down in front of me and one by Isaac. Before I could offer to grab the others, he'd scuttled back to the kitchen. After he and Aodhan were situated, we began again. Isaac broke the silence.
"Our forces are dwindling. We have yet to find anything to counteract whatever type of magic is being used. Your mother was initially leading that campaign. She was studying ways to break or lessen the enchantment. Before her imprisonment, your father was her right hand. He assisted in all of her projects. It's worrisome that any headway she may have had, will be known by the darkness now."
A frown creased his face as Aodhan spoke up.
"This must be difficult," he said. "You've been dropped into a world you don't remember, in potentially the worst time in history. It hasn't even been a full day since I felt your energy signature either. There's no telling what else felt it either. Isaac and I are bound to you by magic. Our engagement bond ties us together and Isaac took his fealty vow in your name. " I glanced to Isaac, curious, but he looked away. "It's no surprise that we could feel your magic."
"What would happen?" I asked.
"They want you because you're the direct descendant of the Great Mother. Not only are you her direct descendant, but you also inherited the magic of the Great Father. You are the Heir of Deianira."
Nova's day went from good to bad, quickly. After leaving her apartment for a fun day, she was transported into a different world. It this nightmare world, she finds herself with a stranger who seems to know a lot more about her than she does about herself. Turns out, there's a few people who know of her arrival and are out to get her! How can she keep herself safe in a strange world she knows nothing of?
