Chapter 1, Part 1: The Hour Before (pg1)

11:00 p.m

(It was late one Friday night when Aiden was over at Jake's house hanging out. After a long night of playing video games and eating in Jake's bedroom, his mother(Js M) came and knocked on the door.)

*KNOCK*KNOCK* (The door opens)

J's M:(Walking into the doorway but not not going further.)"Okay boys, it's time to go to bed."

(Jake and Aiden watching TV, turn to the door.)

Jake: (Sitting on the bed, leaning on the wall.)"Really mom? we're both over 16."

J's M: (Turns to Aiden)"Well Aiden, I promised your mother you'd be home by 12 tomorrow morning. So either go home now or go to sleep so you can wake up early and stay a little longer. I don't make the rules, you're not my child."(She turns to look at both of them again.)

(Jake and Aiden turn to each other and stare for a few seconds.)

J's M: (With one hand on her hip waiting for an answer.)"Well, Which will it be?"

Jake and Aiden: (with Jake sitting on the floor leaning on the bed.)"We'll go to bed now."

J's M: (Walking out of the doorway into the hall.)"Okay, I'll get the extra covers and pillow."

(As Jake's mother makes her way to the closet in the hallway, Jake and Aiden move a tall fan and some shoes out of the way of the side of the bed so they could make a cott for Aiden. Then, a little bit later Jake's mother comes with the extra bedding.)
