I always thought that my first proper holiday spent with a proper family would be different, but how wrong I was.
Sometimes, the compromise is good enough.
Sometimes, we're just not in the mood to celebrate the holiday.
And sometimes, the family drama becomes so bad that you end up learning a horrid secret you didn't want to even know.
Drift Warden House, Perible, England, Mid
Saturday, 24th December
12:42pm
Euanthe walked downstairs and into the living room, sitting down in one of the arm chairs as Blake sat on the couch "How is she?" he asked as Euanthe looked over at him "Jocelyn or Holly? cuz one's still mad at me and the other is calm" she stated as Blake laughed a little at the answer "Can't blame her though, can you?" "No, I can't" she agreed with him "My mother was just as bad with me, the slightest sneeze and she was immediately accusing one of my cousins' parents for getting me sick" Euanthe laughed at the memory. "And I know a hundred percent that I'm going to be the same way with my child one day" she stated as Blake smiled, Euanthe saw it "What?" "Nothing, it's just... I've never heard you talk about having children before so-" "Right...." she slightly cut him off.
Blake raised a brow "...everything alright?" "Me and Jadarius are the last two who don't have a partner" Euanthe immediately stated, throwing the man off a little "When Angelina comes back, grandfather is going to come down of the two of us like a ton of bricks" "I don't understand why Satan would get involved with that" Blake said. Euanthe gave him a slight glare "I'm a hundred and thirty-six, I should've been married by now" she stated "Who cares if you're married or not, what matters is if you're happy" Blake stated, him and Euanthe freezing up a little as Lilly stepped into the living room "Oh- hi Euanthe, I didn't know you were here" the girl beamed as the two adults breathed in relief, thankful that she didn't hear any of the conversation.
"Hi Lilly- oh, before I forget" Euanthe immediately dug into her bag whilst motioning the girl to come over, as Lilly stepped over to the woman, Euanthe pulled out a small box and handed it to the girl "An early christmas gift" she smiled as Lilly stared at the box with wide eyes "Wait- really?" "Yes, open it" the woman told her. Lilly opened the box to show a silvery-blue clasp with a small lily flower charm attached to it "A cool thing about spirit chains is that you can customise them with charms and etc" Euanthe stated as Lilly's face lit up, immediately asking the woman to help put in onto her spirit-chained belt, Euanthe carefully connecting the clasp onto the silvery blue chains "Right, that should never come off now-" and was immediately cut off as the girl hugged her tightly. "Thank you" Lilly beamed before running off to show the others, Blake turned his head back to Euanthe with a small smile "You didn't have to do that, you know" "But I did" the woman admitted "With Angelina gone and being the only royal celestial in Perible, I feel like I'm just as responsible for these kids as you are" Euanthe stated.
Blake smiled a little more as she continued "So if you need any help, anything to do with the kids, I'll be more than happy to help" Euanthe said "Thanks, Euanthe... I really appreciate that" the man smiled, which turned into a slight smirk "...are you sure this isn't because Lilly's now your favourite?" he questioned as Euanthe choked on air. "N-no, I- after giving her the chains, I did some digging through storage and found a couple charms, that's all" the hell princess stated as Blake folded his arms "Right, and you just so happened to have a lily charm in that collection?" "Yes" she told Blake "I'm sorry that I wanted to help a now teenage ghost feel more comfortable in spirit chains by showing her that she can accessorise them" she said, rolling her eyes. "Of course I don't have favourites- what kind of princess would I be if I played 'favourites'?" Euanthe questioned "A favourable one" Blake badly joked, cracking a laugh out of Euanthe.
After calming down, Euanthe hesitated for a second before grabbing another thing out of her bag, something wrapped in white "I um... also found something that I thought you should have" she stated yet instead of handing it directly to Blake, she placed it on the coffee table in between them then stood up "Euanthe, wait-" "I have to go, I've got to get to Hell before I miss the family meeting" she smiled, cutting off Blake. Euanthe rushed over to the front door as the man quickly picked up the gift off of the coffee table and followed after her "Tell the kids that I wish them a happy christmas" Euanthe smiled, walking out and closing the door behind herself. Blake rushed over to the door and opened it only to see Euanthe already in her car and starting to pull out.
Go.
He stood there like a deer in headlights.
Go after her.
Yet all he could do was watch her drive off and once her car was out of sight, Blake blinked a few times before looking down at the white wrapped gift, then carefully tared it open and froze.
A photo of him, his late wife, Euanthe, Erik, Joseph, Caitlyn, Mr Colin, and a couple other people from the Prodigium Council, standing in the courtyard of the council's chambers, beneath the newly blooming willow that stood strong and beautiful. The white glass picture frame holding a carved detailed pattern of willow tree blossoms.
He stood there, in absolute awe and pain as he looked down at the thoughtful gift full of such happy sentiment, his newly favourite photo and frame. Within the corner of his eye, something moved and as Blake turned his head, a smile spread across his face as he saw the once crumbling flowers he was supposed to throw out today now blooming and alive once again, beautiful white thorn-less roses and lilies, what he remembered to be his late wife's favourite two flowers.
He should've went after her.
Blake slowly closed the front door, placing the photo frame right beside the newly bloomed flowers.
Holly sat on her bed, poking at the skin on his leg that her shorts didn't cover, over and over again as her mother, Jocelyn, sat in the girl's desk chair, watching her daughter "Holly, stop that" "It's my skin" Holly stated, ignoring her mother as she continued to poke at herself "Without the numbing stuff, I would be clawing at my skin instead" she bluntly told Jocelyn.
"And you had no right treating Euanthe like that either" Holly stated as her mother's eyes narrowed "She's just as responsible for you kids as Blake is-" "No, she isn't" the girl snapped, cutting off her mother "Euanthe didn't have to teach me and Faith about witchcraft, or help me- we're not her kids and yet she still took time out of her day for us" Holly stated, almost glaring at her mother. "She has taught me more in a few months than you did in twelve and a half years" Holly couldn't stop the words pouring out of her mouth "I... I can't believe I let that fucking pig touch me" she cried, going right off topic, hugging her torso tightly as her nails dug into her skin. "The whole time, he was faking it- he never fucking loved me" Holly cried, her mother jumping out of the chair and over to her daughter's side yet Holly threw one of her arms and a loosely balled fist up into the air "Don't touch me" the girl snapped as Jocelyn stumbled back. It was only when Holly looked over to her mother did her eyes widen in fear; in her hand, almost feather-weight, was a silver and dark rose-pink sword pointing directly at her mother who now stood an inch away from the tip of its blade.
She had summoned a weapon.
Just like Angelina and Vixen did on their first night in the Mid Realm.
The sword faded as Holly's arm dropped, eyes wide and tears continuing to fall as she sat there both motionless and silent "You... you summoned your first weap- oh, Holly, no" Jocelyn scooped her daughter into a gently hug as more ugly tears ran down the girl's face.
Where was that a few nights ago?
She could do that the entire time and yet she only discovers the ability days after when she needed it most?
She felt so stupid- she wanted to scream so badly yet all she could do was hold her mother tightly and cry into her chest just like she had always done when she was little and that's exactly how she felt.
She felt like a stupid little kid.
Slenderman's Mansion, Rorrim's Forest, Dellone, Under Realm
Angelina stepped outside, onto the balcony leading out to the back of the mansion, seeing the entire backyard littered with a thick layer of snow.
It had lightly snowed late last night, but by the girl's guess, it seemed as though she accidently slept through an entire blizzard.
Trees bare and black with ice and wet snow clung to its branches and trunk. Sky a horrid dark grey. Blinding white snow covering everything.
But better yet... this was her first time seeing snow.
The girl leaned against the balcony railing, smiling and watching Jeff beat the proxies' asses in one massive snowball fight before a pale skinned, blonde red and black eyed guy bolted pass Angelina and off the steps of the balcony, scooping up a couple handfuls of snow and started pegging them at people.
'Ben Drowned', aka Benjamin Lawmen, another myth-legend-story to real person who exists, who Angelina ended up meeting very late last night whilst heading upstairs to head to bed, him deciding to slide down the staircase railings at stupid o'clock. It wasn't until he hit the landing that he did a double-take and questioned who the girl was.
"COME BACK HERE, YOU ZELDA-PIECE OF SHIT!" Jeff yelled as Ben ran across the yard, laughing his ass off as Jeff chased after him, nose and head bleeding due to a couple landed shots of rock-filled snowballs to the face, a sight that made Angelina laugh a little before a sudden weight carefully landed on her back. Angelina looked up to see Slender wrapping a blanket over the girl's shoulders, Sally brightly standing beside him in a puffy pink jacket, looking up at the snow in absolute wonder "You'll catch cold if you don't stay rugged up" Slender warmly stated as Angelina smiled a little more "Thank you-" "BOYS!" a harsh yell pulled everyone's attention back to the snowball fight, yet they couldn't see where the yelling was coming from. "You wanna fucking play, do you?!" the voice growled right before both Jeff and Ben zipped pass the house, scared for their lives as Kate chased after them, arm full of sharp snowy rocks "What's wrong?! I thought you wanted a 'snowball' fight!" her voice boomed right before they all saw Jeff trip Ben. Ben fell face-first into the snow, immediately having icy stones pegged at him by Kate, she then ran pass him and started after Jeff "WHY THE FUCK ARE YOU RUNNING, JEFF!?!" Kate yelled "You scared of a girl now?" "YES I FUCKING AM!" Jeff snapped back, Kate then threw a rock and managed to perfectly knock him in the head.
Angelina raised a brow, watching the havoc unfolding in front of her "...aren't you going to stop them or...?" she half asked Slender, his blank face turning towards where Kate and Jeff were "As long as they don't destroy my house" he muttered aloud before shouting out to the snow fighters "Keep it away from the house! Sally's outside!" getting a whole bunch of promised shouting in return before letting Sally jump into the snow by the balcony steps. Angelina rested her head on her arms as they rested against the railing, watching the little girl happily plop down in the snow and start making snow angels.
'Imagine being forever young' Angelina thought and yet she could imagine it... that has been her situation since August. Correction, that was her situation. Now her healing abilities were gone, there might also be a possible loop-hole in the curse... she could easily die down here and no one would know.
