Diary From Another World (Reincarnate to Rule)

The Capital

The Capital

Jan 11, 2024

"You should leave now and return to Hoa," I said to Van Kiep.

"Huh!?" she overreacted with my words and some soldiers in the front looked back at us. We both smiled and they turned away.

"Why did you say that my prince? You know that I can't leave you," Van Kiep sounded emotional.

"I know, Van Kiep. The reason I said that is for you to go and tell my brother that I am safe now in Lai. Tell him to stop the war," I explained while keeping my voice down.

"Then you should go with me too," Van Kiep said.

Hearing that, I shook my head, "No, I can not leave yet."

"Can I know why?" Van Kiep asked. Her eyes were so helpless.

"I have my reasons," I didn't answer her question.

The reason why I wanted to stay was because I believe when the game system dropped me into this world wearing Lai's clothes, it must mean that there is something the system wants me to see. If not, why wouldn't it put me in Hoa's clothes because I am an Hoa's prince after all?

But I can't tell Van Kiep that. She and Long Dao only knew about me coming here from another world, I still kept the game system secret from them.

Not hearing what she wanted, Van Kiep just turned away and ignored me. That was the first time I saw this kind of reaction from her.

We continued to walk for a few more hours before reaching the capital's walls. I was even more overwhelmed with these walls than the ones our troops entered before. These are probably three times as high and five times wider than the other one. No wonder this is the capital of Lai. There is almost no chance for any army to infiltrate these walls.

Once entered, the scenery was just like how I expected it to be: happy civilians, organized troops patrolling around, and a ton of rich people.

But there is something else that I saw, no, felt. Something sinister, a dark cloud hidden within this paradise, but I don't know why I felt it because there was nothing wrong with what I was seeing before my eyes.

"My prince, why are you stopping?" Van Kiep said coldly from the cart.

"Oh, sorry," I woke up from my thoughts and started walking again. "My hunches were always right. I don't like this place at all," I thought.

Because Long Dao's family is in the capital, instead of asking civilians to stay, we just went to the Quy's army camp.

When all of us settled down, Long Dao announced, "Those of you who have families here, you can stay with them until our next battle, but come here every day to train. Those of you who don't have families here, you can stay in the Quy's camp. Have some rest, you all deserve it."

"Thank you, general!" we all said in sinc and Long Dao left the camp.

We got busy again. Soldiers who have family said goodbye to us and left, while the others unpacked their belongings and took a quick nap.

As for me and Van Kiep, we were struggling to find a place too, but suddenly Long Dao appeared out of nowhere behind us.

"There is no doctor here. This camp is just for soldiers to temporarily stay," she said. "Bring her with me."

"Yes general," I obeyed her.

We walked out of the camp without anybody noticing. They were too happy to finally have a good rest that they couldn't care less about me walking out with the general and the girl.

Long Dao brought us to her place and told her servant to prepare two rooms for us.

"Uhm… general?" I called.

"What?" Long Dao answered shortly.

"Why are there two rooms?" I asked.

"Do you think your stubborn maid will agree to stay here if you are away from her?" she replied.

"That's true," I admitted. "Well, thank you for letting us stay," I smiled at Long Dao.

Without saying anything, she walked away, entered her room, and shut the door. "I guess Long Dao doesn't like me," I thought.

I then put the cart down to carry Van Kiep to her room.

"Oh, I can walk on my own," Van Kiep refused my help and stood up on her own. She looked like she had recovered most of her strength already.

Silently, Van Kiep entered one of the rooms Long Dao told us that we can stay and shut the door as well. Looking at Van Kiep, I guess that she was still upset with me ordering her to go to Hoa. I then entered my room and slept like a dead person to the next day.

Let me tell you straight up, the mc here is ... how should I say it ... INTERESTING.

After he was reborn into a world with a game system, our mc thought that the new world he got into is going to be like one of those isekai that he have to kill bosses to level up.

But why is this world so different?

Where are the other monsters, the bosses that he need to overcome?

Is this really just a simple isekai?

With a unique style of storytelling from the mc's own diaries and his master's degree in Isekai tropes being useless, how can our mc survive in his new world?
