Slenderman's Mansion, Rorrim's Forest, Dellone, Under Realm
Tuesday, 27th December
10:31am
Angelina stood quietly with Slenderman in front of her and Hoodie, Eyeless Jack, Kate and Sally standing on the back balcony behind her, readying themselves for a show awaiting to happen whilst the others were out of patrol.
Today was Angelina's first day of training and Slender insisted that her first lesson be with him before letting anyone else teach her... doesn't sound sketchy, does it?
And even better, the others really wanted to watch the hypnotic's lesson with Slender, which didn't settle her nerves one bit.
"This easiest lesson that I make any new proxy learn before anything else" Slender stated before stepping to the side and gesturing to the woods surrounding the house "We're playing 'Hide n Seek'" he announced, Angelina immediately pulling a confused face as the others quietly laughed to themselves "This is going to be awesome" Eyeless Jack whispered, the other three agreeing with him as the hypnotic stiffened a little.
Was there something she didn't know?
"I'll give you a minute to run into the forest and hide or keep running before I come and find you, okay?" "O-okay..." the girl nodded her head, assuring the tall entity that she indeed heard him whilst she stared into the forest 'Why the fuck are we playing games?' she mentally snapped at herself, trying to think of a good enough reason as to why her first lesson is going to be a pre-schooler's first day of school.
The others quietened down as Angelina readied herself to run "Ready? and... go" as soon as the word 'go' left his mouth, the hypnotic ran as fast as she could into the forest.
What she thought was a few feet into the old dead woods appeared to be more as she turned her head to look back, already losing sight of the house. She forced herself to keep running before she started losing her breath and quickly grew light headed 'Crap!' Angelina shifted herself to behind a tree, leaning against it as she wheezed. The hairs on her arms started sticking up, goosebumps all over her skin as this horrid massive and looming weight hit her back.
She couldn't really explain the exact feeling- it was like she was being watched from all angles yet no eyes were really looking at her. Like the trees were both alive and dead, none of them her friend or foe yet would quickly give up her location to whoever asked. Deep in the pit of her stomach, something screaming at her to run whilst something else screamed back even louder to stay put.
Angelina covered her mouth with her hand, trying to silently calm her breathing whilst keeping the urge to scream at bay.
It was too quiet. Even for a forest- not a breeze or animal moving a muscle.
All she could hear was her own breathing and heart thumping in her chest 'Has it been a minute?' she questioned herself whilst trying to listen out for any other sounds 'It must've been- I'm not fast for fuck sake-' her thought was cut short as she felt the dark feeling grow stronger.
She felt like she was going to both vomit and pass out.
'Is... is he actually looking for me?' Angelina thought 'Or was this some sick trick into getting me to leave or get lost in a forest?' she questioned herself 'Shit! what if I am lost?!' her eyes widened, horrid feeling getting even worse as she slowly shifted her foot, peaking out from behind the tree, looking back in the direction she ran from. 'Maybe if I call out-' Angelina's eyes grew wide once again as she felt someone grab her other arm and push her back up against the tree. Angelina looked up and met with Slender's blank face looking back down at her before he flicked her in the forehead, the hypnotic hissing a little from the flick as the entity let go of her "Your dead" he stated and the girl instantly knew that it meant he won the 'game'. "What you were feeling whilst hiding is what my presence feels like whilst I'm... you could call it 'hunting' if you want" Slender stated as Angelina rubbed her head where he flicked her, listening along "Wait until my presence fades before distancing yourself further, and don't ever peak or look back behind you" he advised.
Before she could even ask what the point of this was, Slender answered the question for her "If you can outrun and hide from me, then you will be able to handle the others" he stated as Angelina slowly nodded her head "Hardest stuff first, easy stuff last, huh?" the hypnotic questioned as Slender nodded his head "Right, cuz that makes perfect sense" Angelina muttered under her breath. "You're apart of this world now, Angelina, yet you have come into it very late" Slender stated "What you need to learn now is what children now days have learn their entire lives..." he shook his head, turning back towards the direction of where the girl could assume the house was. "Ever since the Light Spirit disappeared, all the realms have been facing their own trouble and chaos- Nightmare Shadow stories are haunting the youth and scaring the old" he continued as Angelina's brows knotted "...he's not that bad, you know- it was an accident" "Sometimes, accidents can't be seen as accidents by those who weren't there to see it" Slender told her.
The tall entity sighed before motioning the girl back towards the house "Alright, let's run through it again and remember what I told you" he said as the girl's head hung low, turning around "Presence fading, no peaking" "Good and... go" and with that, Angelina forced herself back into a run.
6:40pm
Angelina dragged herself into the living room, slumping down onto a couch, letting herself sink into it and her eyes close.
What felt like tiredness and begging sleep being greeted by relief... turned into an invisible pulled trying to drag her backwards into a welcoming embrace.
"Tired already?" a voice questioned, snapping Angelina out of the hypnotic sleepy trance. She looked up to see Hoodie looking back at her, arms folded over his chest "You know, he made us do that 'game' for days straight until we got it right" he stated as Angelina shifted her gaze to the ground "...that's why you were all laughing" "Can't blame us wanting to watch an asthmatic newbie attempt something that took weeks for us proxies to perfect" Hoodie shrugged his shoulders. She could feel his eyes narrow at her "Why though?" Hoodie questioned as Angelina's body stiffened "What?" "Why keep going if you have asthma?" he reworded his question yet the girl chose to stay silent. The guy sighed, sitting down on the other end of the couch "I remember a kid from school who had asthma, couldn't even run a corridor without buckling over, out of breath" Hoodie said as Angelina silently watched him from the corner of her eye. "You're that kid, aren't you?" "The pathetic kid who's always running out of breath after running a couple feet?" "No" he shook his head "The one that's so stubborn, they forget to look out for themselves first" he said, taking Angelina back a little.
"Everyone has their own 'technique' when it comes to the 'Hide n Seek game'" Hoodie started, changing the topic "Run a good few feet, hide and wait, run a few more feet and make sure you're not going in a straight line next time" he told her, Angelina now lifting and turning her head towards him "How did you-" "Newbies always run straight" Hoodie laughed a little. 'Newbie...' she thought, biting back her tongue "Listen, if you want to survive the Under Realm, you've got to learn how to be exactly like us" Hoodie continued "Cold-hearted killer inside and out... or maybe just the outside for you" he suggested, a small thing that managed to make Angelina smile a little.
"That'll only start when she wins Slender's hiding game" a new voice stated, the two turning their heads over to the door of the living room where Eyeless Jack stood, looking back at them before stepping further into the room "You said we were all stories in the Human Realm, right?" the blue masked man questioned as Angelina slowly nodded her head "You've heard them all?".
The girl's head hung low, tears rolling down her face as her mother stood beside her, tightly gripping the poor girl's wrists to the point the woman's sharp nails dug into the girl's skin "I am so sorry, Mrs Marrie- I have no idea what has gotten into my daughter" her mother apologised to the primary school's librarian who stood in front of them with a printed out list of dates the girl had accessed the computers and what she had been reading online. "Don't worry, Charlotte, the principal is working on getting this non-sense blocked by school portals-" "No, this should never had happened" the mother stated, gripping her daughter's wrist even tighter whilst glaring down at her "I taught her better than that... but each passing day, she's showing me more reasons to have her sent off to boarding school" Charlotte hissed through her teeth...
"What I could before being banned by the school from ever using their computers again" Angelina mumbled the answer "Right so I'm guessing that maybe those 'stories' you read might have something useful in them?" Eyeless Jack somewhat suggested as the hypnotic's gaze shifted back to the ground "Yeah- I'd... really have to think about that" "In the meantime, just stay alert and focus on learning whatever you can- Slender's not going to stop making you repeat today's lesson until you have it down" Hoodie stated. Angelina nodded her head "Starting with 'rule one': if you're lost, don't listen to the trees" he told her, his words confusing the hypnotic "Yeah- and keep in mind that today, he wasn't even trying whilst finding you" Eyeless Jack added as the girl's eyes widened "The 'lesson' won't be over until he actually has to start trying" he continued as the girl slumped back into the couch cushions.
After the two guys left the room to help Slender with dinner, Angelina closed her eyes once again yet this time, instead of being greeted by tiredness or the unknown embrace, she was met with a memory.
Mrs Marrie pulled out a few broachers "Well maybe... consider these options as well" the librarian stated, handing the broachers to the mother. The girl couldn't read a word on them as they where handed to her mother, tears successfully blurring her vision. "This sort of behaviour or interest towards these... gory things isn't normal for any child" the librarian stated as Charlotte looked at the broachers in her hand "It has gotten to the point that I'm starting to get very concerned about the safety of the other children- Angelina's classmates". "We don't have the money to get her seen by anyone" Charlotte stated "Constant lying about bullying, isolating herself from everyone and now this- we're really struggling with her" the woman continued as the librarian consoled her...
A continuation of the memory she made only last year.
Charlotte dragged her daughter through the school and as soon as they stepped outside the gate, the mother drew the girl close "The fuck where you thinking?" the woman hissed, tears still rolling down her daughter's face who didn't dare to look up at her mother "Now the whole school knows how much of a fucking psycho you are" Charlotte snapped. "Sometimes I wonder whether I named you right- 'Angelina Lilith Everns', I should've switched your middle name and first name around" the woman ranted aloud, continuing to drag her daughter behind her again as she walked towards the car "Your brother and sister are complete angels yet no, in order to have them, I had to give birth to a fucking demon child" she loudly muttered. Charlotte didn't let go of the girl's wrist until she had her daughter in the backseat, slamming the door closed behind her before trotting around to the other side of the car whilst the girl wiped her tears and looked down at her wrist, seeing the bleeding indents of where her mother's nails had dug into her skin...
Angelina held up her left wrist as if half-expecting the bloody nail marks to be there yet no.
By memory, she could recall it taking a month before every nail mark was fully healed and no longer visible on her skin, not a single scar. How her parents wouldn't dare wasting band-aids on her so the girl had to resort to taping tissues over the marks until they stopped bleeding and they closed up. How she was bullied by students for the 'freak' that she was and the librarian going as far as to banning her from the school library too, which lead to Corey getting into trouble when the librarian found out he was borrowing books and giving them to Angelina to read just make her a little happy- she didn't even ask him to, but he was very insistent... then he got banned from the school library too, and that afternoon, the girl's parents screaming at her for the whole thing.
The one safe place she had at school was taken away from her.
The one thing she enjoyed was taken away from her.
All because she clicked on an interesting website and let curiosity win her over with a story that should've scared her yet didn't.
None of them scared her, not even the overly gruesome and vomit-inducing ones, she was let fear-free and was more than able to keep her stomach down. At the time, she thought that her parents and constant nightmares made her numbed to the stories she read on that website, but her mother's comments about her after being caught made her think otherwise... being called by her middle name instead, along with 'demon child', 'freak', 'psycho', 'monster' and so on. And because it was her mother, she believed every single word the woman said.
Like she had ever since she was born.
Angelina's hand dropped back down by her side as she glanced down at the hand instead, seeing it bandaged cleanly and tightly.
It felt weird, having already grown use to her injuries healing within seconds to now no healing abilities at all.
She opened and closed her left hand, feeling the cut slightly sting a little from the movement whilst no reaction showed through her face 'I wonder if other hypnotics get the same effect when in the Under Realm' she thought before sighing, assuming the thought was a stupid one to think.
