Weird Abduction
One thing about being a detective is that DJ likes to keep secrecy intact in his work. Whatever may be the circumstances, the boy retains himself from sharing what he doesn’t want to. He isn’t the one to initiate any conversation unless he is asked and he certainly didn’t appreciate people prying in his work.
For his newest task, DJ wanted to follow his already established and well-used approach working. The boy had talked and met various connections he had made successfully in his unstable career but found nothing out of the ordinary, at first.
Until it all started to change.
Several nights later that he had spent in his small office, shuffling through papers and drawing links from one sheet to another, different revelations that DJ hadn’t considered before started to erupt again making some facts clearer than before.
He worked with a new sight and surprisingly some unusual aspect started to unfold regarding acts of Doukas’s committed in their past. The detective kept most of it with himself, well aware of the consequences he might have to bear if anything gets out.
It happens when you work with someone so elite that you get insights into unspoken facts that one can’t speak outside the sphere.
There were several other things that could possibly lead to where Yael was kept abducted. Absurdly enough, everyone DJ met had something new to say about the crime yet no one knew where the captors took their lord.
The first thing that made DJ frown was the fact that Yael Doukas was kidnapped right from his office, on a bright burning day and without a fight from the building where he used to operate his daily work from.
It was one fine day that Yael Doukas went to his office room and started with his daily schedule. The daunting man was busy in several meetings with strange people until noon.
The secretary outside his office entered his room and placed a mug of dark, black coffee in front of him before leaving the man alone.
The ceramic matt green mug didn’t look weird with a steaming hot coffee swirling inside it. it didn’t taste different too when Yael took sip after sip of that hot beverage so he could relax and focus more attentively.
But that single mug of normal coffee proved to be the beginning of some cooked-up conspiracy.
Yael felt lightheaded as soon as he placed the still-hot mug on the glass table. He touched his head, holding it with both hands as he swept his gaze around the room.
Something was wrong
The man quickly opened the last drawer of his table to get a hold of his shining golden gun only to halt when a loud bang he heard at his room door and a couple of people piled in unannounced with weapons of their own
Yael wanted to shout, he wanted to fight and he wanted to kill.
But all his limbs betrayed him and he felt limp on his chair with the last view of those people getting ready to escort him out against his will.
The office was quiet with no one uttering a single word as their lord was getting dragged, drugged and unconscious of his surroundings, towards a huge jeep in dark blue colour parked outside of the building.
The guards at the door watched people shifting Yael into the back seat with utmost difficulty because of the size of that man before they all got in. The large vehicle roared to life, speeding away and leaving the guards in its dust.
Suspicion started to settle in DJ’s core as he examined each and every detail of the case of ‘weird abduction’, as he likes to address it, with devoted focus and time.
What exactly happened that day?
The boy wanted to investigate the secretary who apparently drugged the lord but to his utter amazement, the said secretary was long dead when the Doukas’s inquired her the traditional way.
Longing for his son made Ezekiel more brutal than ever. He just wanted his son back.
Pity for that girl and questions for the lords birthed in the detective’s mind but he reigned himself from going in that particular direction. Questioning them would cause a look of accusation and that could lead him to the path where that secretary had gone.
No sir, thank you.
There were multiple people involved in the success of that crime, it was impossible to hunt for each one just to find a valuable hint.
Nevertheless, the detective was lucky and successful in getting some tidbits that could prove to be a game changer for the previous investigators. He has also learned some questionable things that didn’t make any sense to his active mind.
Things that could have solved that case a while ago.
The detective has concluded the case to be more than what it seems. Things weren’t the way they were being presented even though nothing was kept hidden from the investigator.
All this while, the boy discovered many things regarding Yael and the lords. He tried his best to keep things undercover until the desired result was attained which is the lead to Yael Doukas.
But the small issue that became a problem after a while was ‘keeping things to himself’.
Upon all these mind-boggling scenarios was Leo Doukas, dancing belle over the younger’s head, with a suspicion that the detective knew more than he was allowed to.
And he was right, the young detective certainly knew a lot more than necessary.
But he had kept his mouth shut.
The boy didn’t find it suitable to share his search work about Yael and his whereabouts and he couldn’t make Leo get the hint by using his polite tone. He tried changing subjects, ignoring calls and vanishing from his office only to be found and bound to tell each and every detail that he had found so far.
Still, he managed to get away with false reporting.
Finding Yael Doukas was itself a huge and difficult task but it became a little more frustrating to follow anything when Leo was practically breathing on his neck.
In his mind, DJ was adamant about not sharing those crucial details with Leo at any cost before he himself finds out what he needs.
As promised by Ezekiel, Leo has provided DJ with every information regarding the abduction of his cousin brother. He also helped the boy with resources such as video footage and timing detail along with assistance in any expense that was made during the investigation. DJ refused of course but it went in vain when Leo didn’t even consider his refusal and went on with what he was instructed by his father.
The older visited DJ’s place quite frequently, he roamed in the small space, touched things before misplacing them which pretty much irked the younger, and asked about the progress in the case every now and then.
Leo was attracted to the younger and he didn’t retain himself from showing that when he occasionally closed their distance unnecessarily, subtly touched DJ’s round blushy cheeks and offered him rides and food.
The young boy could only clench his fists in anxiety but couldn’t do anything more.
DJ thought of strictly abandoning Leo from coming to his office by telling him that the older was meddling in his professional business thingy and his approach towards him was getting uncomfortable. But the words drowned in his throat each and every time before they could get out when Leo casually just showed off his tucked-in weapon in his waist belt.
The boy wasn’t the bravest of all instead he is a scared little lamb, and he doesn’t believe in himself to argue with other who supports such lethal objects that could kill him instantly.
No way never and so the boy opted to bear until his time was over.
The building pressure and suspicion-filled gaze of Leo and his sometimes accompanied men were taking a toll on the young detective. He just wanted to gather authentic information about Yael, hand it over to the lords and get out of this job so bad.
Maybe leave the area so he can’t be traced by them
Fed up with the continuous meddling of the older and tired of the obligatory reporting, DJ decided to call an old friend and ask for help.
An old friend known as Tom Blue
A boy, three months older than DJ, was a tall, dark and handsome lad. With ruffled curly, black hair, full cheeks, and sexy jaw, he was a bouncer in an elite club. Income was low at such jobs that's why he opted to take on other small assignments, like threatening someone on behalf of his boss or indulging in a small theft, to run his small household.
Once upon a time, DJ had favoured the said friend with a life-threatening situation. Although he wasn’t the one to save the other boy directly but he was ninety-eight percent the reason that Tom got out of that jeopardy.
Hurrah! It was time to cash that favour to his benefit.
The thought of such a perfect opportunity made DJ twirl around his small space where he was working all day and night.
The boy rushed to his old-fashioned device and dialled a number kept in for emergencies.
A few rings in and the call was received
“h--hello, To-Tom?” DJ called hesitantly.
“hey babe, how ya doing? what’s up?” the other male answered, voice full of joy as if he was the happiest man alive.
DJ and Tom had a bittersweet relationship. They were friends but enemies as well. Both of the boys were always ready to sacrifice the other in case of saving their own ass.
That is how they were.
How do they become friends in the first place? Well, it’s a story for another time.
“all g-good, I-I n-need a---a fav-favour” DJ stammered in his honey-like voice. Tom on the other hand melted where he was, after hearing the voice.
“of course, anything for you, buttercup.” The other flirted while agreeing for the very needful favour.
DJ supported a pinkish blush on his cheeks when he felt embarrassed being called buttercup. He was shy and an introverted boy who couldn’t help but get uncomfortable with compliments.
“Tell me, babe, sleeping trouble you have? want a warm body to cuddle you? Or maybe you are lonely and……” Tom was laughing hard after hearing a sharp inhale of breath from DJ. He knew he was making the other blush but that’s the fun he thrived for when it comes to DJ.
“n-no….. it's ab-about-t my ….my w-work” the boy managed to mutter and Tom sighed between his laughing fit, heartily.
“of course detective. Tell me what you need?” DJ heard through the device and contemplated for a few seconds before opening his mouth.
“c-can you c-com-come o-over?” he asked.
“can’t right now babe. Have plans for the night but you can text me the needs and wants and I can meet you up in a few days. Sounds good?” Tom offered and DJ sighed almost content.
The young boy was already expecting for Tom to decline his offer since he wasn’t ready to face his friend’s energy right now.
Introverts do that sometimes.
Thankfully his prayer was listened to by the powers above making him look up at the ceiling and thanking god with his dewy beautiful eyes.
“o-okay. That’s f-fine” he said smiling.
……..
“here is your location” Tom entered the office room at the break of the dawn as he threw a thick page towards DJ. Ferra market was quiet and empty of any con man at that time, people were snoring in their houses and the streets were deserted.
DJ has asked him to come at this hour only so he could avoid both Tom and Leo meeting.
The young boy was having a bowl of yoghurt and cereal when his friend arrived. The first thing Tom did was slurp all of DJ’s yoghurt in a second and toss the empty container aside in the cluttered room.
DJ, though, was busy in looking at the location written in bold words and was encircled in red ink. After sending the essential details, both friends talked for an hour or two discussing many other ways to get what they were aiming for before coming to a suitable choice.
Tom had promised that he knew someone who could help and his claim turned out to be true when he called DJ for a meet-up.
“w-where is—is this p-place?” the young boy asked looking up at Tom with his large mesmerizing gaze. Tom sucked in a harsh breath after seeing his friend getting more beautiful than before.
“not this city and not this state. This place is far away, an abandoned town. It’s dangerous there but why are you looking for this place” Tom asked seriously while taking out a cigarette from his pocket and igniting it with DJ’s kitchen lighter.
“d-don’t s—smo—smoke he-here” DJ stammered with his beautiful voice and Tom shrugged in response.
“tell me sweetie, what shady shit are you planning? Are you planning to rescue huh?” Tom asked again taking a seat on the sofa and wincing when a spring finally popped out crashing with Tom’s back.
“n-no way-y. I-I just h-ha-have to prov--provide the---the w-whereabouts of his—his son a-and then I-I am f-free” DJ says as he pulled open a drawer and fished out a small packet containing few bills.
“h-here take t-this, it’s w-what yo-you dem---ma--anded” he stretched his hand towards Tom for him to take the money.
“I don’t want this babe” The older of them both declined as he smirked thinking something sinister.
“wh--what do y-you m-mean? W-we had an--an agree—agreem-ment” DJ’s frowned and Tom instantly felt a pang in his chest from making the boy stressed. He had seen DJ growing up and still, he gets affected whenever DJ feels a sad emotion.
Tom could bet his life that DJ have a magical power in his existence which can lure in any man on the planet.
“I have a better idea of my payment” The older boy reduced the distance between him and his friends and held onto DJ’s shoulder firmly.
“n-no, take th-this and l-l-leave” DJ retorted not wanting to listen. But Tom shook his head at him.
“listen to me babe, just listen. You just have to say that I helped you big time with your hunt and with your statement, I will cash my services” A brilliant idea with a brilliant smile, Tom was proud of himself.
“y-you craz-zy, t-they will k-kill u--us” DJ muttered scared while his hands twitched in anxiety only by imagining his fate.
“Just do it bestie,” Tom whined mimicking a childish tone. DJ turned away from him not agreeing.
“no T--Tom. I-I c-can’t” he said pleading.
“you can Jerry. Listen, I take responsibility for my actions and their reaction and I won’t hold you accountable for anything that happens yeah? Let me earn a buck more babe please” Tom pleaded in return while DJ felt more stressed.
“I----..” he started but was cut off when Tom pulled him in a squishing hug.
“Finally we have an agreement. Thanks babe I owe ya” he said smiling.
