Odds are there would be somebody in that shack, mabye more than one person. He hoped they were friendly; he was not in the mood for a fight. Mabye they knew how to get out of here, or at least get into another 'room' like the letter mentioned. Questions, questions.

He made it to the rocky part of the beach and started the journey around the lake, the pebbles under his feet grinding together as he walked.

It was quite serene, actually. The stillness of the lake, the way that single palm waved in the gentle wind.

Movement.

He turned to the lake where he saw it.

More movement.

Something rose from the otherwise still waters.

A creature no bigger than a large dog made from the lakewater itself, subtle darkness in the shape of a skeleton and a stone of some kind embedded in a translucent chest. It looked defensive -no, protective- and scared, 'teeth' bared and wings arched.

It could attack at any moment, but so could he.

It raised it's wings ready to leap as he clenched his fists.

"LAPRAS!"

The unfamiliar voice startled him as it did the monster.

He turned to see who the mysterious speaker was and ended up facing the shack, that now had a teen girl in the doorway.

She was medium to tall in height and dark-haired, a single green hair clip keeping it in place. She donned worn furry boots, armour (not a full suit) and a somewhat damaged cloak. She appeared to be looking for something, or rather someone.

Kai froze, not knowing what to do and wondering if she might be hostile.

The monster did not.

It did the aquatic equivalent of bounding towards her with the energy of a happy dog.

"Lapras!" the girl said when she saw it. Was the monster the one she was looking for?

"There you are you adorable little rascal!" she followed as the creature went in for some wet head rubs.

Yep, that's definitely Lapras.

And then she saw Kai.

"Oh! Hi! My name's Marcy, and this is Lapras."

"Hi! Uh, Kai."

She seemed friendly, so she probably was ... right?
