The Synchronization Project

E6 - An Open Book (1)

E6 - An Open Book (1)

Jan 20, 2024

November 24th, 2023:

Oooo, it's my turn to tell the story. Nice!

The name's Janet Miyazaki, 19 years old, from Canberra - Australia, She/Her. I was born deaf, but from an early age I taught myself to read anything and everything: lips, body language, any and every fantasy book I could find. It's so good now, that I basically have subtitles for whatever's in my view.

When the 『Synchronization Event』 occurred, I developed my preferred path (the primary form of magic that your body finds easiest to use) almost immediately: materialising my thoughts. Initially I only used it to "form words", but after meeting my (for almost 3 months now) girlfriend, we figured out how to convert my imagination into reality - primarily swords, lol.

It was amazing actually. She found a doodle I made of a ninja and theorised that I could materialise my drawings as well - and of course - she was right! But nah, that's a different story.

This one started on a chilly Monday morning at my flat in Geneva. It was 6am, and I was making a smoothie.
"Urrrgh," groaned the beautiful black lady walking lethargically into the kitchen, rubbing her heavenly yellow eyes with her (my) sexy pink robe.
"One, we don't start work till 9; did you really have to wake me up now?
And two, you look so hot in those leggings; wanna come back to bed with me, Piney?"
"I wish, my sweet angel, but I've gotta go in early; Ryan finally convinced Alix to start his "fight club," so you know I've gotta see what an ex-world-class fighter can do. I've made you a fresh pot of coffee though, incase you wanna join us?"
"Thanks, but I stayed up too late trying to learn some new paths yesterday. I'll just get your summary when I get to the office, babe," Naomi replied before sending me off with a kiss.

Soon after, I made it to the dojo. It was like my high school's sports hall, but with a checkered floor of green and blue mats, and a weapons rack instead of balls. With a clap of his hands, Alix silenced the room as he turned to address his dozen students.
"Right, first off," the olive skinned 18 year-old started, scanning the room with his thick, black, rectangular glasses, "this is not a fight club. This is a self-defense class. Ryan lied to you."
"Exaggerated," his skinny elder brother smirked.
"Hmmm. Guess you guys will get to see a proper fight after all, though. Come on bro."

The brown-skinned fool swaggered forwards as the muscular one tied back his wavy, black mane. Crackles filled the echoy room as Ryan's short, neon-green hair started to spike towards the sky, his lightning powering up. With determination in his eyes, and a smirk on his face, the little one taunted Alix:
"Ready to finally lose, Sensei?"

『Ding』

The instant the bell rang, Ryan disappeared into an emerald blur, circling his master like a lioness on the hunt - but Alix was one step ahead. Before the streak could get close, he stomped the floor - engulfing the room in dust - and sent Ryan flying back from the force of the shock wave. The boy quickly recovered against the dented wall and launched at his prey again, but hestitated as the ground split into a field of spikes and cracks. Taking his opportunity, the teacher trapped his challenger's feet in thick, grey rock, locking him in place. He walked up calmly, then sent his fist flying at his disciple, stopping it an inch before impact to smuggly boop him on the nose instead.

"Polx! You win again."
"Yeah, but if you can learn from it, you might beat me next time," he smiled softly, patting the loser's back.
"That's what you said the last 100 times," Ryan sighed, before he bounced back into a smile.

"Now, who can tell me what the lesson was here?"
"Don't annoy you, Alix?" the leader of team 9 chuckled, inviting the rest of the audience to burst into laughter - Ryan bowing and enjoying the attention while we ragged on him, jokingly.
"Yes. But something else too, Colin."
"A speedster's only as fast as their thoughts?" I questioned.
"Yeah. Nice one Janet. For your prize, you get to "spar" with Ryan for the session."
"Shilk," cried my green friend (victim), "not again..."
