The Synchronization Project

E7 - An Open Book (2)

E7 - An Open Book (2)

Jan 20, 2024

"Thanks for pulling me outa the way before, Ry," I said to my exhausted sparing partner, while passing him his superhero-sticker covered water bottle.
"Of course, Jan. I mean you would've dodged it if Lewis from accounting threw it from infront - like someone who isn't a complete idiot!" his eyes widening at the end to stare daggers at the poor soul behind me.
"Sorry again, Janet," a sheepish, middle-aged man smiled uncomfortably, as he walked into my view, "the bat slipped out of my hand accidentally, I-"
"It's fine, mate," I reassured him, placing my hand on his shoulder, "I was losing that round anyway."
Ryan winked at me, his little gremlin grin burning itself into my mind as he shot irritating finger guns into my soul, "2:1 to me!"

Soon after, while I was walking out of the changing rooms in a really cute black dress and red leather jacket combo (that my amazing angel convinced me to finally buy the week before), I found Ryan hiding behind a wall, peeking into the lobby. Placing my hand on his shoulder, I tried to raise a scream, and his face became that of a child who's parent had just found him with his hand stuck in the cookie jar, before he hastily composed himself and pulled me into his creeping spot.

"Don't look now, but I think Alix is flirting with someone," he signed at me, grinning devilishly.
Ignoring his warning, I peaked around the white marble to see my friend fiddling with his black goatee, as a redhead in a green blazer playfully poked his chest (which was covered by a skin-tight magenta shirt).
"You're lying; there's no way you know the lead singer of Warmplay," I transcribed for Ryan.
"I'm not, I swear. They follow me on social media, like my activism or something, I guess."
"Then they have very good taste," she winked, while staring softly into his eyes, making him blush. "I've gotta get to work," gesturing to her massive binder, "but text me when you're free, yeah?"
"Defo," he said, as he awkwardly waved her off.

"So, who was she?" Ryan whispered into his ear, as he snuck up behind Alix (causing him to raise his fist quickly, before lowering it with guilty eyes).
"Just a friend."
"Does your friend have a name?" I smirked.
"You too, Jan? And it's Lily, if you must know," our victim sighed.
"Who's Lily?" my gorgeous girlfriend asked, as she appeared (in stunning white flared-pants) with 4 large bubble teas.
"A lady Alix's crushing on," we explained in tandem, as the shy lad held the bridge of his nose, dramatically.
"Well, Alix, as the youngest (and most inexperienced) member of our team, you can always come to us for advice. Just make sure you're being safe, yeah?"
"Yes mum," he said defeatedly as we continued to mock him, "but judging by those in your hands, we've got a case?"
