The Synchronization Project

E15 - An Open Book (10)

E15 - An Open Book (10)

Jan 20, 2024

His light-green eyes shone like gems, as he let the energy engulf him. The fibres of his grey hoodie stuck themselves to his skin. A faint burning smell was released with each crackle that overflowed from Ryan's body - making my teammate hard to touch.
"Overclock." He whispered.
『Bang』

Alix dropped the shield, and the shockwave that Ryan generated almost pushed me over. I trusted the others to have our backs, so took a deep breath, and became my friend's brain....

I could feel everything: the freezing air rushing past his skin; the heat from the energy coursing through his blood; the subtle movements of everyone on the pyramid, as my sight was replaced by the radar path. There was no more me. Just us.

As we suspected, the boss wouldn't let us attack head-on. With a slight flick of his hand, 5 iron boulders were launched at my boy, by his minion. Unfortunately for him, I already felt the shift in the air and calculated their trajectories. In a split second, I moved Ryan like a game character: left, right, left, slide.

As our teammates dealt with the launcher, we tried to strike from behind, but alas, he was prepared and the purple robe transformed into a slithering beast. With quick footwork, we escaped its fangs and tried again, but this time the floor split. It quaked and shifted, trying to trap us, but I already saw it, and our movements were constant, unrelenting. We never polxing stopped!

To everyone else, he would have just been a vibrating green blur, but I was him, he was me. With a silent thought, we took our opening.
「There!」

We flew into the air, and I could feel every muscle twitch, each stretch, each bend. Time froze for a moment, as we extended one leg and locked on to his head like a missile.
「Ready?」
「Let's go. RYAAAN KICK!」

The hit landed, and the pressure of the battle instantly changed. The footmen lost direction and instantly became chaotic, useless - much like their boss. With a few swift blows, he was easily knocked out and we tied him up in his re-transformed robe.
「Nice work, Ry.」
「You too, Jan.」

We turned around to see the whole battle field clear. All of our foes had been locked up, we could finally rest. So, with both of our energies drained, Ryan and I collapsed into the arms of Alix & Naomi, respectively.
"Did you call that a "Ryan Kick?"" I signed.
"Yeah, like "Rider Kick," get it?"
"Rik-head."
"Polx you."
