Valentine's Day special
Unknown pov
As usual, I am left all alone on a humid summer evening.
Even if sometimes it can be annoying it's not like I mind.
I like having the house all to myself, even more, if it means not seeing my dad, then the better it is.
But I won't lie and say it does get lonely sometimes.
It's summer after all, it's not really the time to stay confined, it's time to have fun.
Regardless, I've been having the house all to myself those past few days, ever since my dad left for a business trip.
It feels liberating but today it's Friday and as aloof as I am, I also want to have some fun tonight. Ok, not a party necessarily.
When I think about fun it immediately makes me think about my boyfriend.
Goodness, he really doesn't have the same life as me but that's beside the point.
Hmm, now that I think about it, I haven't seen him in a couple of days, how odd. It's not like we don't text but still, this isn't an online dating relationship.
You know what? I'll just ask him to come here, we'll get to see each other, plus there'll be no one to bother us, no offence to his family.
I take my phone out and immediately start texting him.
It's only once I text him that I notice what time it is. Crap, I didn't think it was that late.
It's starting to be dark out too. Ugh, I should have known that it'd be too late to invite him. He's not like me, he doesn't like walking in the dark.
I expect him to say no but to my surprise, he agrees to come.
Wow, so he's willing to walk to my house at 9 at night, a cloudy night to be precise.
Maybe I underestimated him, he really does miss me more than I think or better yet, his parents somehow let him leave. Oh whatever, his parents probably have better things to do, he's almost an adult, and he doesn't need their permission all the time.
Regardless this means my boyfriend is on his way.
Damn, why do I feel excited to see him all of a sudden?
Gosh, I miss him too, don't I?
Oh whatever, soft feelings or not, he's the only one that gets to make me feel this way.
I go wait outside and notice that it's a bit cloudier than usual and it's way darker than it should be after sunset.
Hmm, I hope we don't get a thunderstorm or something, that wouldn't be fun.
I wait for 10-15 minutes until I finally notice my boyfriend arriving.
"Hey"
"Hi" He smiles shyly and that warms my heart.
I come closer to my boyfriend a bit further than the doorway.
Then I gently kiss him and he gives in too.
Though I won't lie and say his height is almost the same as mine ruins a bit the concept.
"I'm surprised you had the guts to walk in the dark like that, did you miss me that much?" I tease as I pull away a bit from him.
"Yeah, I usually wouldn't but my dads are kinda busy having sex, so I didn't want to disturb them." I burst out laughing and he gets confused.
"Wow poor you, you must be traumatized." I continue to chuckle.
"Yeah, but this does not even come close to what I've already heard." I look at him curiously.
"What did you hear?"
"Um, things..." He blushes embarrassed and I chuckle.
"Don't your parents get tired at their age?"
"I doubt it, let's just say it's a long story."
"You should definitely tell me someday," I smirk but before he can say something, we get caught off guard by thunder.
"I think it's a sign we should go inside." He says.
"Yeah," I agree and we go inside.
Through seems like the thunderstorm is getting closer than we think as rounds of thunder follow.
"I should have known it would thunder, it was on the forecast." He says convener.
"You made it on time then." I try to lighten up his mood.
"Thank goodness. Do you think this thunderstorm is gonna last long?" He asks a bit worried.
"Probably not, it'll probably pass."
"I hope so"
More bouts of thunder go on getting louder and more violent as time goes on. Even more lightning flashes accompany it and light up the house.
It'll probably start raining like haywire soon enough.
Oh, whatever, it'll probably be like the other ones, it'll pass but it seems like he's more worried about it than I am.
"It'll be fine, let's go to my room."
We walk to my room, ignoring the bouts of roaring thunder.
We then set foot into my room and my boyfriend goes to sit right on my bed.
"You missed my bed?"
"I don't know, it's comfy, it smells like you." He says but immediately he becomes embarrassed upon realizing what he said but I only smile.
"So you like how I smell," I smirk and he blushes even more now flustered.
"Uh...yeah"
"Maybe I should lend you some of my hoodies."
"Axel it's summer." He says straightforwardly and I mentally slap myself.
"Right, I can still lend you one for later on."
"Yeah..." He smiles flustered and I can't help but want to wrap him around me.
Without a doubt, I sit on the bed and without a doubt, I do just that. I wrap him around me.
"Axel..." He basically melts under me and I smile.
"Do I smell good?"
"Uh...yes?" He says confused looking me up at me.
"Good"
Our sweet moments get interrupted by more bouts of loud and violent thunder, quickly becoming impossible to ignore.
It's even evident out the window that it's starting to be windy too. I'm surprised it hasn't started raining yet.
I was ready to continue our moment but it seems like my boyfriend is not on the same page as me.
"It's pretty loud and it really doesn't look good outside. He remarks worried.
"Yeah, it's worse than I thought but you know those kinds of thunderstorms happen once in a while, so we'll be fine." I try to reassure him.
"Yeah...I hope so."
Then an idea appears in my mind.
"Want to watch a movie to distract ourselves?"
"Yeah"
I take my phone but he gives me a look.
"It's too small on the phone, how about we go watch the movie downstairs?"
"You're right, it's inconvenient for two."
So continuing to ignore the nightmare that goes on outside, we go back to the living room where there is a huge TV.
We decide to sit down next to each other on the couch and I open the tv.
It's increasingly become impossible to ignore the ruckus outside with now rain accompanying it.
But I still choose to ignore it and I start searching for movies.
"What movie do you want to see?"
"I don't know...I like those typical romance and dramatic high school drama."
"Huh, I didn't take you for that." He gives me a look and I stop.
"Ok, ok, I get it. You're more than just a nerd." I say a bit frightened half real, half joking.
"But do you mind?"
"No, it's chill."
Just to prove my point I start checking the section on romantic/dramatic high school movies and I notice one that catches my eye.
"How about this one? Nerd but hot, it seems awfully a lot like you." I smirk and he rolls his eyes.
"Yeah, let's watch this one."
I click on it and as it starts we get closer.
The movie starts as predicted it's about a nerd.
However, we don't get to go too far in the movie before we hear a loud bang and we get plunged into the dark as the power goes out.
"Omg...I really wasn't expecting that." My boyfriend says frightened as we both open our flashlights from our phones.
"Yeah, me neither. Guess it was way worse than we thought."
"Yeah...do you think this will last?"
"I don't know we should probably take a look."
"Right, we can no longer watch the movie."
"Yeah, not really."
The roaring thunder alongside rain continues the ruckus with lightning flashes occasionally lighting up the house.
"Wait, let me check if we still have service." He says and I wait.
"There is some but it's pretty weak, what about you?" He asks and I check my phone too.
"Same"
"Ok...it's not good news but I'll still try to see if we're the only ones in the dark."
We wait as his phone takes time to load and eventually, he confirms what we both probably didn't want to hear.
"The entire neighbourhood is without power, including my house too I believe." He says getting increasingly worried.
"It's fine. This isn't the first time this has happened. Though we should probably go look for candles, my phone will die soon." I say.
"Yeah..."
We start moving cautiously from the living room with only the light of our phones.
As we do so, I try to remember where the candles could be.
But the increasing roar of thunder keeps interrupting my thinking.
"There might be some candles stored somewhere in the kitchen."
"Ok"
We go in that direction and I start searching for candles under the kitchen counters with only both of our flashlights.
As I go so, I notice that suddenly I have less light on me and I turn to look at my boyfriend looking at his phone.
"Why did you stop pointing the light on me? I need the light from your phone to see." I look at my boyfriend and in the dark, I have trouble figuring out his facial expressions but I do notice that he seems worried about something.
"Sorry, my dad just texted. He's worried. Apparently, the storm won't let out for another couple of hours so..."
"So what?" I ask confused.
"I might have to sleep over..." He says concerned, worried, even embarrassed maybe? I can't know with the dark.
"Yeah, it's basically your only option at this point."
"You don't mind...?" He says worried I think?
"No?"
But then I realize why he's so bothered by the idea of sleeping over. Right...he never slept at my house before.
Is he thinking we'll do that...?
I stand up and get closer to him, then choose to kiss him, hoping to cheer him up.
"It's fine, I don't mind. It's better that way and cheer up, this means we get to spend more time together." I try to brighten his mood and it works a bit.
"Yeah..." He says embarrassed.
I continue my search for candles and eventually find two and I lighter not too far.
"I've found some."
"Oh, that's good."
I take the candles and light them up, giving one to my boyfriend.
"Now what?"
"I don't know. What time is it?"
"Close to 10"
"Oh ok."
"You sure you have no ideas on what we could do?"
"Um yes...but it's a bad idea..." He says embarrassed,
"Oh come on, it shouldn't be such a bad idea."
"Do you...have your guitar...?"
"Yeah?"
"I want you to...play it..." I light up a bit surprised by his request.
"You know nothing is embarrassing in that, I'll happily play for you anytime." And I'm pretty sure he blushes.
"Really?"
"Yes, now let's go back in my room, my guitar's there."
He doesn't say anything and follows me back to my room.
We get there no long after and despite the dark, I easily find my guitar. Then I sit down next to my boyfriend on my bed.
"What song should I play?"
"Um...I don't know anything."
A song comes to mind and I start playing it.
And for the rest of the stormy night, we ended up cuddling each other with me playing guitar occasionally and my boyfriend being all shy and embarrassed making it all better.
Through the lights come back home after a while making us stop.
"Oh, it's back."
"Yeah, still plan on staying?" I ask.
"Yeah...I can't go back, it's too late."
"Good then, I'll have you all to myself."
"Yeah..."
"Want to finish that movie?"
"Um...it's a bit late no?" He asks.
I check the time and realize it's near midnight.
"You're tired?"
"Um...a bit..."
"Fine, then let's go to bed." And his eyes widen in surprise.
"You want to sleep together?" I frown confused.
"What? You were planning on sleeping where?"
"Oh...I thought you wouldn't want..."
"Shawn, you don't have to be shy with me, you're my boyfriend."
"But..." He says reluctant and I try to think why he's so embarrassed about the ideas and then I finally realize why.
"Oh no, don't worry. I won't do anything to you. We'll just cuddle together that's all." I smile reassuring him.
"Thanks"
"Hey, don't thank you."
"I can't help it." He smiles softly which makes me smile too.
Even if it is a bit strange at first, we prepare to go to bed and as exactly as I thought we fall asleep next to each other, where Shawn quickly becomes comfortable and ends up cuddling me all night long.
I guess that stormy weather wasn't all that bad after all.
