He was laying on the roof, his arms under his head and watched the sky.
After Zack left, Oliver stayed behind, thinking about Zack and how hurt he looked when he was talking about him and Clarissa, he secretly hoped they would make up. He was jealous of her, of how he had to share his time with her, but also how hurt Zack was because of her. He weren't sure Zack would react the same way, if Oliver and Zack fought and didn't talk for a while.

For half an hour he just laid there, before he decided to get up and head inside. As he climbed in he heard movement outside his door and went to open it. Jake closed the door to his room and turned around, seeing Oliver standing in his doorway.

“Oh hey,” he said before he headed towards the stairs, his car keys in his hand.

“You heading out?” Oliver asked.

Jake stopped and looked back, narrowing his eyes a little. “Yes?” he replied.

“Mind if I tag along?” Oliver asked. Jake looked a little annoyed but sighed.

“I though you and Zack was going to hang out,” he noted and tilted his head wondering.

“Yeah, well, he had some girl problems so he left to fix it,” Oliver shrugged, and Jake nodded.

“Fair enough, then sure, you can tag along, but hurry, I wont wait for you,” he raised an eyebrow as a warning, surpressing a smile, before he headed down the stairs.

Oliver quickly grabbed his phone from his bed and his keys on his desk, then left his room, closing the door behind him before he went down and met Jake by the door. Even though he said he wouldn’t wait, Oliver knew he wouldn’t leave, and true enough, Jake was standing and waiting, his phone in his hand. He looked up when Oliver got closer, and smiled before he opened the front door and left.

Oliver quickly took on his shoes and followed him out, locking the door behind him.

They drove towards the town, the radio playing the newest pop music, but Oliver didn’t really hear, while he was looking out of the window.

“So, what are you going to do in town?” Jake asked curious. Oliver glanced at him then shrugged as he looked at the road ahead.

“Not sure,” he answered. He didn’t have a plan, but he didn’t want to stay at home, so he thought it was better to just aimlessly wander around.

“Fair enough,” Jake answered. Oliver glanced at him again, noticing he was dressed nicely, well more then normally, with a plain white t-shirt and a light gray cardigan over. He had light blue jeans and he wore rings on his fingers, a thing he rarely did unless he wanted to look good. His hair was also nicely styled and Oliver could smell a hint of cologne.

“Where are you headed?” he asked with a raised eyebrow, curious.

“The movies,” he replied grinning, “got a date with Tessa.” Oliver knew Tessa was the girl in the picture, he had seen on Jake’s socials. She was a pretty girl with shoulder length dark brown hair and stunning green eyes. She was nicely fit and looked like she could be a cheerleader, though Oliver had no idea, since he hadn’t met her before.

“Nice, what are you going to watch?” he asked while watching building passing by, knowing they were getting close to their destination.

“Some fantasy action movie, seem pretty nice,” Jake replied. Oliver nodded while humming. He thought about it and wondered if he should see the movie too.

“Maybe I should go with you guys,” he said, and glanced at Jake with a smirk.

“No thank you, I rather not have you around while I’m on a date,” Jake grimaced by the thought of it. Oliver let out a laugh.

“Don’t worry dude, I’ll make sure to say as far away as I can from you guys. I rather not see my brother make out with anyone,” Oliver reassured him, and Jake shook his head.

“Yeah, that would be much appreciated,” Jake agreed and drove in to the parking lot by the cinema.

The cinema was small with only three screens, one slightly bigger then the others, but they could only have 30 people in most of them, slightly more with the bigger screen.

They left the car and headed toward the entrance where Tessa was waiting. Oliver got surprised when he looked at her.

She was wearing a short black skirt, showing off her legs, with ankle boots, slightly heeled, not that she needed it. She had legs for days and were half a head taller than Jake. She wore a light purple top, that didn’t leave much too imagination, as it hugged her body tightly. She also had an open black silk jacket and a black purse, hanging on a chain over her shoulder.

She flashed Jake a smile, dimples appearing in both cheeks. She didn’t wear much makeup, but it didn’t matter, as her natural beauty made her look stunning. Her hair was tugged behind her ears, showing off a small heart-shaped golden earrings.

She quickly glanced at Oliver, slightly surprised and for a moment she looked disappointed, but quickly smiled at him. “Oh, I didn’t know you would have someone tag along,” she said with a slight hint of disappointment, but she tried to be polite.

“That’s my brother, Oliver. I simply gave him a ride,” Jake wrapped her arm around her waist, while Oliver gave her a quick wave. “Don’t worry, he wont be joining us,” Jake reassured her, which seemed to help her relax a little.

“Oh ok,” she said and smiles slightly warmer at Oliver. “Are you going to watch a movie too?” she asked him.

Oliver shrugged with a smile. “Maybe, I’m not sure, I have to see what’s going at the moment,” he replied, and she nodded.

They all headed inside, and Jake and Tessa went over to get their tickets. Oliver had said he might want to watch the same, but he wasn’t sure until he looked through the options of movies. None of them caught his attention and the one that seemed most interested were the same movie Jake was going to watch, so he bought a ticket to it. He also quickly grabbed a small popcorn and a medium soda before he went to where it was going to be shown.

When he went inside and found his seat, he noticed that his brother were only three rows down. They were leaning up close and Oliver could see they were sharing popcorns and holding hands.

Seeing them close made Oliver yearn for some affection too, but he wasn’t the type to stay with one person. It would also be a bit problematic since he did get a lot of free stuff when he was with others, but being with strangers didn't really fill that empty spot inside of him.

The movie had been surprisingly good, and Oliver was happy that he had gone to see it. He met up with Jake and Tessa, where they quickly talked about the movie before they left. Apparently, they had other things to do and Jake told Oliver, that he wouldn’t give him a ride home, since he was expecting not to get home before late, clearly hinting to something.

Oliver walked through town, most of the stores were closing down for the day, so he headed in the direction of the mall.

The mall was two stories building, with an exterior that still looked like it did back in the 70’s, and even though the inside has been modernized, it still had that old look to it. The huge glass dome on top of the building, filled the inside with natural lighting and on sunny days, it gave off a cozy vibe.

Oliver headed towards the thrift store, not that he expected there would be anything new, but it was always interesting to see, what kind of clothing they sold, when he bumped into Casper, as he left a store with two other guys. They looked at each other and when Casper was about to say something to Oliver, he turned away, ignoring Casper. He didn’t want to interact with him at all, especially not alone, because he couldn’t trust his temper. He rather not get into a fight.

At home his dad was cooking. Oliver went over to the fridge and opened it, hoping to find a soda and frowned when he didn’t see anything.

“If you are looking for soda’s, try in the garage. I think there is still a few cans left in the fridge, from Jake’s birthday two months ago," his dad mentioned, while stirring the pot of meat sauce.

The fridge they had in the kitchen was small, so they had an extra one in the garage, along with a freezer, so they could store food in there that they didn’t use all the time.

“Thanks,” Oliver said and headed to the garage. It was a fairly big garage, with the back wall full of shelves and plastic storage boxes. There was also a small workbench, from back then when his dad enjoyed working on stuff. His dad’s car were parked in the garage, looking dirty like it hadn’t been washed for some time.

Oliver went over to the fridge and opened it. Like his dad said, there was some soda’s left, but he also saw a couple of beers that he didn’t know they had. He took a green soda before he also grabbed a beer, feeling like he could use it.

He left the garage and went up to his room, where he cracked open the beer and chucked half of it, before he placed it on the table and opened his window, letting in the fresh air in. He then took his cigarette pack and shook out a stick into his hand and lit it.

He watched the ash crumble from his cigarette, as he was leaning out of the window. There wasn’t as much wind as he had hoped for, but the sun still shone bright and warm.

Oliver crushed the last bit of his cigarette in his ashtray, before he went back to his bed, leaving the window open. He picked up his beer and went into his social medias.

Jake had posted a new picture of him and Tessa enjoying ice cream together, then he scrolled down further and saw Zack cuddling with Clarissa. Clarissa had long wavy caramel brown hair, pale skin, and slightly round cheeks. Her eyes were light brown and she had freckles on her nose and cheeks. She was a cute looking girl, Oliver had to amid that, and she seemed very sweet, but from what he had heard from Zack, she could be stubborn and didn’t tolerate any bullshit. He kept scrolling, looking through pictures from other people he knew from school, or he had hung out with.

Oliver wasn’t one for taking pictures of himself, but he did enjoy taking pictures of nature around him and decided to pick up his camera, dig his laptop out from a desk drawer and then transfer the photos from it to his laptop, before choosing one with the sun peeking through the trees and the road free of cars. It surprisingly looked calm, and he decided to post it with no description, since he was never good with words. He then closed his laptop and finished the rest of the beer before he joined his dad for dinner.

Oliver knew his dad could smell the beer, but he didn’t say anything. Actually, none of them said much, since there wasn’t that much to say. They ate for a bit before his dad looked at him, a little hesitant before he spoke.

“So I saw you had posted a picture online,” he mentioned. Oliver nodded while chewing. “It’s good, did you take it from your window?” Oliver nodded again.

“You are getting better,” he praised and gave Oliver a smile, that made Oliver feel a slightly tightness in his chest and he felt embarrassed. It was rare for his dad to praise him so Oliver had no idea how to react to it beside saying thank you, so he did just that, which prompted his dad to nods and continue eating. They both ate their last bit in silence and Oliver helped his dad clear the table before he left for his room.

He laid down on the bed, his phone in his hand, going through social media. His own picture had gotten four likes half of them from his own family, one from Zack and one from another friend of his. Curious Oliver decided to go into Casper’s social media again.

He hadn’t posted anything new but Oliver scrolled through his pictures, noticing that a lot of his pictures were of him and his friends or the success he had experienced in life. They also had a lot of likes, clearly showing how popular he is. Oliver frowned, feeling jealous and decided to close the app and put his phone away. He shouldn’t waste his energy on him and decided to focus on playing a game, which he finished around two in the morning and went to bed right after.

Oliver wish he could be just as lucky as the others and enjoy life, instead of being jealous all the time. Maybe one day he can?

Hm... He meets Casper again, and again. 🤭 Maybe the bad-bad Casper simply wants to talk? Or... Apologize?

Oliver has long given up achieving anything in his life. With ADHD, bad vision and being deaf on his left ear, he never thought of himself as anything special, and it didn't help that his older brother was the golden child, who aced all his tests and never did anything wrong.

When Oliver saw Casper, someone he hadn't seen for six years but someone he hadn't forgotten, the memories of him and Casper fighting, the constant mockery and bullying, left him with a grudge he couldn't let go off, so seeing him again after so long, those feelings arose once again.

What he didn't know was that meeting Casper again, would change his life around, and his struggle with drugs and alcohol would be the foundation for their friendship, and maybe something more.
