The wife he neglected—was so different from the person who he lived with, yet she glimmered with beauty with the same radiance as the one he saw during their wedding. She was beautiful, and angelic, and it made him look away.
He figured out that he didn't have any rights now, because he never really cared for her. She was the only woman who could waver him even during the day he married her. It was strange, but she made his heart move.
Her pure, soft elegance is the only one. That moves his heart, and pound like his heart is about to burst, but that was before. Today, he realizes that he only made her suffer.
"I was informed that you are chosen to cooperate in an upcoming trial as a judge, so I came here to give you the briefing documents regardless of that case, and the other file that belongs to the empress," he said and it made Selena tilt her head.
She had not heard about the case. In fact, she wasn't aware at all. "Pardon? I have not seen my schedule, so I wasn't aware." She looked at him. "By the way, next time, send your personal secretary to deal with coming here."
She looked at the sky as the wind was brushing against her porcelain skin. She wasn't aware that someone—or perhaps he was glaring at her, as if he wanted to tell something.
"This must be rude to you, your majesty, but I cannot entertain your stay as of the moment. Please set a date for an audience on your next visit, since I will be very busy starting now."
She respectfully shifted before she walked forward without looking back. Leaving the emperor alone outside her door, filled with shallow thoughts and fleeting feelings. Honestly, it's his first time here, but the empress always intrudes his palace without a second concern. Now, she's demanding such a thing, and why does her way of speaking bother him so much?
Callisto looked at Asher as he breathed out. "It looks like my wife is behaving strangely." He looked at the open door that was leading to the main hall of the mansion. "I must have gone too far with my actions, regardless."
Asher coughed and he looked away.

The way Selena studied herself in the mirror, with her eyes inspecting every inch of her body, was remarkably diminishing into a facade of despair. The mirror with her reflection seemed to have brought in some terrible memories, and she exhaled.
Selena has been deserted during her stay as the empress, so why did he look so unhappy? The author made Callisto as a man who fails as a husband to his wife, even if she was suffering. Yet Callisto looked entirely distant from the one she created.
"It shows that this reality changes depending on how I revise the flow of the plot," she muttered to herself. "It must be possible to change the fate of those who died tragically."
The plot was just a simple happy ending story, but the fans got involved and it turned into a disastrous ending. Indeed, the Belian Empire peacefully lived, but Alvadiz fell into ruin when Selena died. Soon, war broke out. An unknown army appeared out of nowhere and took the empire by surprise. After that, Alvadiz had no choice but to fall down.
Callisto went to war as planned and to stop the upcoming revolt. Yet, he came back as a corpse. While there was no heir to take over, the only decision was to burn in ruins. Although the empress daughter was alive and well, she had chosen to marry a foreign duke.
The last boss, Selena Solen Alvadiz, and the tragic major character, Callisto Rey Alvadiz, were both an extra. They don't have a story to be told. It's just their flashback and other unnecessary displays.
If she can rewrite the story, will Alvadiz survive the nearing collapse? Besides, the fall of the empire of Alvadiz involves Selena's homeland.
There is a detail of that, but she swears she couldn't even commemorate it or how it began. The contents are lengthy for her to remember every detail, maybe because of that, she wasn't able to recall much about it.
Selena's homeland, the small country of Solen. It has the smallest country ever, but they bear a fang which is not as small as their country. The Solen Kingdom is a scattered country. They have the biggest military force which is by the work of an ally kingdom. Their most valuable asset was the County Island.
The County Island has been deemed by some as a dilapidated locale, yet it conceals within its borders an entire mountain of precious gems and diamonds. This treasure trove boasts a vast array of rare and delicate materials, ranging from stones and metals to crystals, along with the added allure of mystical stones and enchanted items.
The County Island is not someone of the other race can enter, it can only allow the Solen’s royal blood to enter. If one dares, the island itself will turn into a most tremendous nightmare no one has ever seen.
Solen Kingdom is indeed a small country, but they are as dominant as the Alvadiz Empire.
She looked at the mirror once more and she nodded. "Your majesty, I came to give you the official schedule for this day onward."
"I apologize, please come in," she said.
Then the door suddenly opened, as it revealed a dashing man in his prime. Although, he looked more terrible than how the author remembers.
Derrick is one of the kind, a workaholic who also complains about jobs not being done properly. He probably suffers during Selena's downfall, but he never loses hope for her to recover.
Selena in the original did not recover, she became extremely and highly vile, evil and wicked till instantly even her heart had turned into bad as the results of her unrequited love.
He directly offered her the documents he was holding, and Selena accepted it without a second thought. These are all the events and appointments she needed to attend in this month, your majesty."
She nodded, and she looked at the piles of documents she was holding. It contained detailed procedures and proposals; she was stunned how well organized the documents are.
'This was properly being processed.'
The first page of the documents states her involvement in a lawsuit for a divorce case, and the subject’s matter of everything needed to judge the trial based on truth and nothing but truth only.
The second one is a festival, and another is an appointment. There are many events, but she still has all the days to study and work in the office.
She nodded, and she then turned to the last page of her task. 'This one?' she thought, and she read the content.
'I see. It’s a political delegation.'
A political delegation is a person from another country, kingdom, or empire to visit one of their allies by showing loyalty against the signed treaty of peace.
She, as the empress, was tasked with welcoming the visitors and to survey them during their visit. Her eyes widened, 'survey? spy on an associate force?' she asked.
"Did the emperor give this task?" She asked her secretary, who directly flinched at her question.
"Yes, I was told about that. The emperor wants the empress to accompany them and spy on their movements," he looked down. "I am not too sure what his majesty meant as well."
"But the Principality of Runya had been an ally for centuries," she said.
"According to the emperor, they have been showing suspicious activity as of late. He suspects their conspiring activity with Duke Rehevan," he explained.
Selena tilted her head. "Duke Rehevan?" she asked, and he nodded. "He’s been awfully quiet, but since he keeps on causing trouble, I suspect his activities are very much normal."
For now, she didn't need to worry, but Duke Rehevan was a dangerous man to overlook. He was one of the reasons Alvadiz fell into ruins. He connived with the enemy and they broke the empire’s military formation.
Selena considers the emperor’s skepticism based on his own theory, but he might not be wrong. Duke Rehevan can raise a rebellion, and that's too risky to keep.
She nodded. "I'll deal with this first," she said and smiled. "Are you going to the office?"
"Yes, I was about to propose that," he replied, and she giggled.
"Silly thing, you didn't need to... I am going to work from now on, remember? I'll take over the affairs you had to go through because of my absence."
Derrick bowed. "Please do! Your majesty."
Well, ‘he's also honest’. Derrick’s personality differs from others, he is honest even if he’s talking to someone higher than him. He didn't really love lying about how he felt. He will never deny it. So, no matter what takes place, he will say his feelings genuinely.
She chuckled and nodded. "Thank you for taking care of my duty. I truly appreciate what you have done so far to stabilize the empire."
Derrick smiled and he giggled. "You flatter me, your majesty, but you need not to worry, because I will stay by your side."
He was determined to continue supporting and serving the empire, using his honest and loyal quality to insure the stability and prosperity of the empire. Despite any challenges or obstacles that may arise, Derrick knew he would remain steadfast in his pledge to the empire and its people.
As well as to serve the empress of this empire, who despite not of the blood of the Alvadiz Empire, has to sacrifice many things for this country. Although that is how he expected, it was never the same as how the author views Selena.
'Ah, yeah, she is Selena Solen Alvadiz now,' she thought and smiled. 'She needs to fix what she destroyed as the author and as Selena.'
One thing for sure, she already planned her to-do-list and maybe in the near future, when she is set to right the wrongdoings of Selena, and she can pay for what she did to Selena's child.
And to be able to reunite with her.
