The Soul, Part 2

The Soul, Part 2

Feb 14, 2024

"That's easier said than done!" I remarked, remembering the horrible pain of death.

As my consciousness drifted back from the realm of Terminus, the weight of my impending return settled heavily upon me. The memory of the searing agony of death still lingered, a reminder of the precarious balance between life and oblivion.

"Sit on it," Terminus's voice cut through the darkness, urgency tinged with an undertone of uncertainty. His words jolted me back to the present, reminding me of the responsibility I now bore.

"What do you mean, 'you think'?" I demanded, my mind racing with questions and apprehensions.

Even as a deity, manipulating the soul itself must have its limits, I reasoned. The strain on Terminus was palpable, his power waning as our conversation continued.

"Will I see you again?" I asked, a pang of uncertainty coloring my voice.

Terminus's response was somber, the weight of his impending slumber evident in his words. "It takes me a great deal of energy to maintain this connection," he explained, his voice trailing off as his presence began to fade. "You'll have to navigate this on your own... I'm sure you'll do fine."

Back to reality, I'm shrouded by darkness.
Already aware of what's going on, I send a surge of soul energy to my brain, vitalizing my mental processes and adding acuity to my thoughts along with parallel thought.
With the newfound mental strength, I send a wave of power to my body, so much so that some energy escapes, blasting my surroundings.
All of this happened in a near-instant, but still almost slow enough to where I would've been beheaded.
As the thing was about to bite down, the soul blast that escaped sent it flying, slamming it into a tree.
"W-what…?" The thing said, dazed from the blast.
Although I hadn't been able to see it before, it was more than apparent now.
This thing was tremendous in strength, terrifyingly so.
It's soul energy was flaring, escaping in such huge volumes that one could mistake it as a geyser blasting up from the ground.
Red in color, it was lighter in viscosity, flowing like a warm, slightly thick milk. How I'd even survived to this point baffled me, seeing as it was so strong.
A cold sweat ran down my face, but I kept a cold exterior as I withheld any soul energy from leaking, not wanting to waste energy unnecessarily.
"You… you've been hiding your… strength… why? The thing questioned, agitation apparent.
"I don't like to waste energy on those who are lesser… let alone a bull-wannabe." I said smugly, hiding away a smirk on my face.
"Do you… even know what I am? Let alone… who I am!"
Looking down at my two missing digits, I think of how my mother healed me.
She used something that reversed time… I'm not there yet, but I think I could produce the same effect.
Remembering that soul energy could vitalize the cells, I wondered if cell division could be sped up to heal the body faster.
Willing the magicules to force my cells to divide, I watched as my flesh bubbled, only to splash on the ground as my missing fingers remained nothing but stumps.
Damn! It's a lot more complex than I'd hoped.
Plop!
Getting railed by a huge wad of saliva, I was sent flying as my velocity didn't seem to decrease.
My chest now completely pulverized, I yelled out in pain as saliva was forced out through my mouth along with blood lost from internal bleeding.
Hitting the ground once, I was ragdolled as I was lifted into the air again, going through a vicious cycle of hitting the ground and being lifted into the air a dozen times before eventually just rolling.
After being sent about half a kilometer, I rolled around in pain as I clutched my broken mangled body, writhing as the intense burning sensation boiled along my skin, feeling like hot water had been poured while being stabbed with knives all over.
"AGGHHHHH!" I yelled out, eyes burning with intensity.
The thing loomed over on me, a big smile in it's expression.
"To have survived a direct hit… you're quite… impressive boy. However… I am a primordial... I have been around… much before you humans were but monkeys… scrounging for bananas." It raised its foot, intending to crush me.
WHAM!
I was slammed into the ground, a huge crater appearing as I'd poured as much soul energy as I could into my defenses.
Uncaring for backlash, I poured all my energy into my cells, vitalizing my body to the absolute brim.
The thing raised its foot for another assault, sneering at me as I stared at it with deep, burning hatred.
Wham!
A less intense reverberating shockwave could be heard, this time with me catching its foot.
With blood pouring out of my eyes and ears, I readied myself, using the newfound power to stand up against its pressure.
Still holding onto its leg, I let out my intense pressure, aiming for intimidation.
It didn't back down however. It smiled at me, looking down as I'd tried my best to reach its eye level.
"How cute." It muttered, followed by a headbutt.
Before I trained with Terminus, I wouldn't have been able to react, but the soul energy flowing in my eyes increased my cognitive function tens of times over.
Jumping up to return a headbutt, we clashed, shockwaves shooting out all over. As I'd refused to back down, I continued applying pressure.
With blood shooting out of my eyes, ears, and now mouth, I didn't stop, hoping for him to stand down.
"Child, how much longer can you maintain that power?"
Almost instantly, the primordial used two of its legs to send me flying, though not as far as its spit balls.
"Ugh!" I grunted as I'd slammed into a few trees before stopping at around the 7th.
Now, essentially everything was broken in my body, leaving almost nothing left for me to further damage.
Getting up, I ran towards the primordial as it started chasing me, hoping to meet its advances.
Their big body was a huge advantage over mine when it came to attack range, but I knew that I was in a more nimble form,
Giving me an advantage in maneuverability.
Meeting it halfway, I narrowly dodge a kick from its left front foot, swerving my head and shoulder just as it was about to make contact. Noticing that he was now using his legs as fists, I dodged another 3 as it sent an onslaught of physical attacks to overwhelmed me, dodging by mere centimeters as the legs blew past me.
Finally getting in range, I ball up my right fist that I'd had curved back, ready to release.
With all my strength, I release the punch, using all the momentum from my running speed to back it up even further.
"Aghhhh!" I yelled as it made contact, creating a huge impact.
Skrrrkt!
Looking him in his eyes, I see that my blow dealt no damage whatsoever.
No, that's the wrong wording.
There was devastating damage, but it wasn't to him.
I looked in horror as I turned to my right to see my forearm bone was sticking out through my elbow, all fingers sticking out in different directions as I'd mangled the bone, completely crushing my arm.
