Part 1: The Chronicles of Life and Death

Polo, as a mere adolescent, had already tasted the bitterness of life more times than he could count. On the brink of death several times over, he navigated through the depths of despair and profound depression, struggling to adapt and survive. Yet, he was not embarking on this challenging journey to harm others. Contrarily, he sought to learn the arcane arts of magic to safeguard those around him. His ambition to become the best version of himself was the guiding star in his darkest nights. Yet, the road to becoming this paragon of virtue and power was strewn with obstacles and suffering. The journey was long and arduous, spanning many years. But the light at the end of the tunnel shone brighter than ever. Today, his perseverance has paid off. He stands as the most powerful wizard the world has ever witnessed - a true paragon of strength, a veritable titan amongst wizards. Of course, Polo's faith as a Muslim cast an intricate web of complexity over his pursuit of magic - a practice often deemed forbidden in his religion. Ironically, it was that very faith that led him down this path. When a conventional ruqya - an Islamic healing prayer - failed to cure an ailing friend, magic became the only viable remedy. The controversy his decision sparked is a tale unto itself. So, let us unravel this captivating narrative.

Returning home one day, Polo was met at his doorstep by a girl. She lunged at him almost instantly, but he was far too skilled for her. With a flicker of surprise in his eyes, he conjured a protective barrier, and just like that, they were transported to a different realm. The girl was possessed by a Jinn, a spirit notorious for its strength, but Polo was among the best, if not the best in the world at handling such entities. The Jinn seemed taken aback. "This dimension, this domain, can only be accessed by those possessing knowledge from the highest echelons of magic and Islamic scholars. How did you...?" it began to question. Polo merely smiled, "So, you're aware of this place? Now, leave the girl in peace." The Jinn let out a derisive laugh, "Hahaha, you think this scares me?" Its arrogance was palpable, and Polo simply replied, "I've given you a fair chance, so don't blame me for what happens next."

As the Jinn made a move for the girl's heart, Polo quickly formed a sign with his hand, casting a luminescent blue shield around it. The Jinn was irate. "What have you done?" it demanded. With another swift hand sign, the Jinn was forced to vacate the girl's body. But before it could disappear entirely, Polo charged at it and destroyed it. The girl collapsed onto the bed, finally free of her torment.

Her parents, who had been watching helplessly, sighed in relief. "Thank you so much. Nothing we tried worked, not even Ruqya," they admitted, their gratitude evident. Polo simply nodded, "Just make sure she doesn't end up in a similar situation again." As a token of their gratitude, the girl's family offered Polo a substantial sum of money, amounting to $1000. Bemused, he asked, "What on earth is this for?" They explained, "The previous person we consulted asked for this much." Polo refused the money, stating firmly, "I do this for your safety, not for money. Anyone who charges you such an amount is either a scam or taking advantage of you." While Polo was indeed in dire need of financial help, with debts weighing him down, he refused to compromise his principles. Taking money for these kinds of services just wasn't in his character. The robbers laughed off his warning and opened fire. Screams filled the room as bullets flew towards Polo. Sporting a mischievous grin, Polo tapped into another one of his powers - incredible speed, which he could sustain for five minutes. He moved swiftly, catching the bullets mid-air and, in a surprising move, spit them back at the robbers, effectively neutralizing them.

Being cautious, he had already deactivated the surveillance cameras in the room and hallway, knowing he wouldn't want his actions recorded. He had little faith in the justice system and believed these criminals were better off dead. Once the robbers were dealt with, Polo teleported back to his original position. The room was steeped in confusion when the lockdown was lifted. As everyone tried to piece together what had happened, the teacher managed to stand, a mixture of relief and puzzlement on his face. Polo, on the other hand, had an ordinary day at school, having once again made the world a slightly safer place.

The next day, Polo returned home. Unknown to most, there existed a spell to summon him - not by his name, Polo, but by a more formidable, darkly resplendent alias. This spell, which resided in a book, was found by his friend Mustafa. Mustafa and Polo had a history of disagreements on magical matters, but Mustafa went ahead and invoked the spell nonetheless. Upon completion, he was shocked to see Polo materialize. "No, I didn't summon you, I summoned this...," he stuttered. "Yes, I am he," Polo replied, "and your summoning was flawed, but I arrived anyway. So, let's get started."

Eyeing Mustafa, he continued, "It appears your soul is absent. Let me guess - you tried to negotiate with the Soul Eater demon, hoping that if you surrendered your soul, he would grant you more power. Instead, he stranded you, your life crumbling around you." Mustafa could only nod in agreement. Perplexed, Polo asked, "Why would you make such a deal? What did you want so badly that you'd risk your soul? If it was power you sought, you could have approached me." Mustafa replied, "I needed money. You could have amassed wealth with your magic, but you're too blind to see it." Regret swirled in Mustafa's eyes as anger flared in Polo. "Shut up, Mustafa," Polo retorted sharply. "I'm not here to constantly pick up after your mistakes. I warned you about such risks, yet here we are." With a forward motion of his hand, he summoned the Soul Eater demon that held Mustafa's soul. The demon shot toward him like a magnet, but before it could reach Polo’s hand, it exploded. This is what Mustafa saw; however, in reality, Polo transported it to another realm to investigate. Mustafa's soul, along with those of others the demon had captured, returned to their rightful bodies. Mustafa was dumbfounded. "You just defeated a demon holding that many souls. I heard that kind of power is akin to an Archangel's. How did you...?" Polo merely stared at him. "Goodbye, Mustafa. I hope you live a better life. If you ever try to summon me again, you won't live long enough to complete the spell." The disdain Polo held for Mustafa ran deep. Despite all the negativity and numerous betrayals Mustafa had subjected him to, Polo still found it within himself to help him one last time.

As Polo retired to his home after a few ordinary days spent studying and preparing for university exams, an unexpected visitor arrived. Death itself, one of the most potent Archangels, made an appearance. Polo, uncharacteristically subdued and respectful in Death's presence, took a seat. "Polo, when you agreed to take my place for a day, to wield my power, you completed the task, and I granted you a majority of my abilities," Death began. "But you can't be thoughtlessly wielding that power." Polo, puzzled, responded, "I'm not sure I follow. What did I do?" "The demon you exterminated," Death continued, a note of severity in his voice, "Do you know who that was?" Recalling the encounter, Polo admitted his uncertainty, "Not exactly, but I suspect it was one of the seven demon lords." Death stood up abruptly, agitation lining his features. "You thought? You guessed? It was indeed one of them, the one named Mammon." The pieces clicked into place for Polo. Mammon, the demon associated with greed. That made sense, considering Mustafa's desperate desire for wealth. He nodded, "Okay, so I killed one of the demon lords. I still don't see the problem. How is this a bad thing?" Death sighed deeply, his gaze stern. "Polo, while you might have the capacity to take down common demons and jinns, meddling with the lords of their kind causes an imbalance in the universe. Your actions have created a tension that will attract the attention of the other demon lords. They will come for you." Undeterred, Polo retorted, "Well, I can handle them too." "But when it comes to Satan, Lucifer, you can't," Death warned. "That's a battle reserved for the last of our kind. Never mind that for now. Just remember, you cannot go about slaying demon lords unless absolutely necessary. The only reason I've let you retain the power I granted you is because you are chosen, one of the five. Goodbye, Polo." And with that, Death disappeared, leaving Polo alone, his thoughts swirling.
