“What?” I asked as I neared Senan, Tristan, and Logan.
“Well, you did something to your hair and you look more muscular somehow” Tristan said giving me a once over.
“I don't know what you're talking about” I said heading for the door. Climbing into my car, I started the engine as the others buckled in. The drive to school was uncommonly silent, like they thought I'd break if they said anything. Pulling into the lot, I saw Sky as we parked. Stepping out, I watched as he glanced my way with a smile which I returned as I noticed Declan glaring at me from behind him. Laughing, I shook my head and opened my connection with Sky.
“Hey, I think your Alpha might be jealous. You should see the glare I'm getting from behind you” I said still laughing.
“Oh my god, I'm sorry about him. He's gotten really clingy recently and it's really starting to creep me out” he said with a hint of irritation as he rolled his eyes and then added “did you do something different with your hair?”
“Yeah, that's a long and confusing story that I'm not even sure how to explain. I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around it but I'll fill you as best I can in first period” I said turning to walk into the school as Senan took my hand. As we walked, an odd feeling of jealousy washed over me but I knew it wasn't mine.
“Sky, are you jealous?” I asked a little surprised causing a smirk to appear on my face which he couldn't see since he was behind us.
“Maybe a little. I like that you're close to your brother and I kind of wish my brother and I had been that close when he lived with us. Wait, how’d you even know that’s how I was feeling?” he asked surprised.
“Oh, is that all? I’m not exactly sure. Your feelings must’ve been strong enough to come through the link. By the way how'd your math homework go last night?” I asked chuckling at the memory.
“That was you laughing in my head!” he said sounding shocked and then added “Declan was outside my house when I got back last night and was trying to figure out where I'd been like a jealous lover. So, to keep him out of my thoughts as I relaxed I put up my barriers to the pack and thought about something mundane to bore him into leaving me alone in case he somehow got through.”
“Oh, that makes sense then. Why do I get the feeling Jared is staring at me smiling?” I asked Sky a little confused.
“Oh, I told him we're friends now and he took that... in a... different... way” he said sounding a little embarrassed.
“You mean he thinks you have a crush on me or something?” I asked as I felt his shock before he said “something like that” in a lower voice.
“Well, honestly, I find you interesting but I understand that even if you did you couldn't act on it since you have a mate waiting for you” I thought shrugging. Walking to my locker, I could feel someone staring at me making the hair on the back of my neck stand up. Turning like I was looking at Senan, I glanced over my shoulder to see Declan still glaring daggers at me. Rolling my eyes, I turned back around as we approached my locker.
“Are you okay big brother?” Senan asked as I opened my locker.
“Yeah, I'm fine... I think... I don't know, honestly mom said something this morning and it weirded me out a bit” I explained not really understanding what happened.
“Okay, you know you can always talk to me right?” he asked as he put a hand on my shoulder.
“Yeah, I know. Thanks bro, now go before you're late to class” I said smiling at him before shooing him away. As I closed my locker and turned around, I found Tristan and Logan watching me.
“What guys?” I asked confused.
“We're just wondering why Declan has been glaring at you all morning” Logan said having no idea about my relationship with Sky.
“I said something he didn't like and he found out about it” I said covering the truth as I headed to my English class.
As I walked into the room, I noticed Sky sitting in the same place as yesterday. Taking the empty chair next to him, I smiled at him before getting my stuff out for class.
“Wow, so I wasn't just seeing things outside. The silver streak looks nice though I never did understand the one side thing” Sky said looking at my hair.
“I never did either not that I did this on purpose” I said toying with the changed strands.
“How did you do it then if not on purpose?” Sky asked scrunching his face up into a really cute confused expression.
“Well, I went to bed, had an odd dream, and woke up with it like this” I said as I stared at it.
“What was the dream about?” he asked then added “you don't have to tell me if you don't want to though.”
“Nah, it's fine. This is gonna sound completely made up but I was a silver colored wolf. I somehow ended up in the grove where we met last night and you were there but it wasn't you. I mean it looked like your wolf but the way it spoke wasn't the same. If I remember right he said his name was Percy. Anyway, I thought it was you and he wanted me to prove I was me. So, I explained about our meeting. He believed me and asked if I knew the name of my wolf but I didn't know they had separate names or I guess personalities. Though the name Talon kept playing in my head so Percy said that was probably it. We agreed it was weird for me to be a wolf and then I woke up. When I looked in the mirror, my eyes were a vibrant gold for a few minutes before changing back and now I have this permanent streak. And then to top it all of, when my mom came to make sure I was awake this morning she saw it and said “it's starting” before rushing back out of my room. It's all very odd and confusing” I explained as I watched Sky get paler with every word. After I was done explaining, I paused to let it all sink in as I watched him. Getting worried when he said nothing but looked freaked out, I asked “what's wrong?”
“I don't think it was a dream. Not exactly anyway because your subconscious wouldn't have be able to give you information you've never been told” he said as he started to shake.
“What do you mean?” I asked calmly trying to get him to tell me what he's thinking.
“I've never told you my wolfs name but somehow you know it. I've never heard of this happening before but there's no way you should know that” he whispered so no one else would hear.
“Sky, you need to calm down. I'm sure there's a rational explanation for all of this. We'll just have to figure it out” I said trying to calm him down before he lost it and shifted in front of the entire class. After a few minutes of breathing, he seemed to calm down some. The rest of the class passed in a tense silence which didn't end when the bell rang as he gathered his things and bolted from the room. Following him for a minute to make sure he was okay, I saw him at his locker staring at Jared but neither was saying anything. They stayed like that for a few minutes before Jareds’ eyes caught sight of me and flashed a vibrant green before returning to their usual teal. Looking away, I went to my locker then headed to second period without speaking a word to anyone.
The rest of the day passed much the same as the morning had minus the freaked out werewolf as he’d been ignoring me since this morning. At the end of the day, I went to my locker passing Sky, Jared, a girl who was clinging to Jared that I assume was his mate Kinsey, and Declan without even glancing in their direction. Grabbing my stuff, I headed to the parking lot to find Senan, Tristan, and Logan waiting for me as per usual. Without a word, I got into the drivers seat only waiting long enough for them all to be buckled in before driving out of the parking lot without looking back.
