Alex and Nina entered in the classroom where Nova was sound asleep. The medics had taken care of his injury. He wasn’t that badly hurt. His memories of course were altered to forget the incidence.
“Yo Nova, buddy, wake up.” Alex said as he shook him lightly.
Nova woke up with a yawn.
“Woah, did I… fell asleep?” Nova asked drowsily.
“Yeah, idiot you slept in the middle of studying. Come on its dinner time.” Nina said.
“It must be Grey’s symptoms; he usually sleeps in the middle of the class.” Alex joked.
…
That evening, later during training with Luxario.
“Are you sure he was healing visibly?” Luxario asked.
Alex, “Yeah absolutely. If R-1 and her team hadn’t stepped in then we both would have been dead for sure.”
Luxario, “Well it’s clear that the people after you are no ordinary force. Even if you beat them once as long as they believe that you have even 1% chance of handling legendary treasures, they won’t stop coming for you.”
Alex, “Yeah, I figured out as much. But tell me, what’s the Ministry of Justice? I’ve read some texts about it in Green Tale’s journals and even R-1 brought it up once.”
“Well, it’s pretty much similar to what you guys call a government.” Luxario explained.
“Hm? But isn’t it a rulership which prevails over the 4 kingdoms? What’s the need for that with each kingdom having their own dictator?” Alex asked curious.
“Well, that’s where it differs from earth’s government. In the sense that it governs the 4 kingdoms not the people. What if a ruler breaks bad? How to regain control? That’s where the Ministry steps in. And what if the Ministry becomes corrupted? Who’s there to stop it? The Kingdoms. Together they keep each other in check.”
“I see… then it was their decision to not pay much attention to me?” Alex asked.
“Correct. The only reason, Clare’s able to keep the one of her squads at the school is because a certain someone voted highly for you to be protected.” Luxario shared.
Alex, “Hm? Someone I know?”
Luxario, “Not exactly, but Albado Moon, someone who’s very grateful to you and also happened to be an executive member at the Ministry’s Parliament made it happen.”
“Albado… Xerxes son?” Alex asked half remembering the tall furry man whom he met at Xerxes’s funeral.
“Anyways, enough chit chat for now. Shall we start?” Luxario prompted Alex to get ready.
The latter sighed preparing himself to face the worst time of the day.
Roughly an hour later. Alex lay on the ground with ragged breath while Luxario drank some tea.
“Ah this tea from India is the best.”
Alex was too busy to catch his breath that he’d hear Luxario sip on some tea.
“So, it was pretty close with this Flamailo you say?” Luxario said stroking his chin appearing to be deep in thought.
He then continued, “More importantly I was impressed when you were able to pull off ‘Raging Streak’ well at least 30% of it.”
Alex ignored the taunt hidden underneath the compliment as he asked, “Have you thought of any solution about the people who are after me?”
Luxario, “No, it’s quite difficult to locate that demon you were talking about. Emerald has changed a lot in the time I have not been active, so I don’t have any leads.”
Alex, “I have a plan.” Luxario raised his eyebrows, interested.
“And what would that be?”
Alex, “We capture him.”
“And?”
Alex, “kill off people’s suspicion about me. You know like a messenger. It might not work fully but who knows, it’ll at least lessen people’s hopes a bit.”
Luxario nodded a little understanding his intentions. “But do you think he will do as you say, you don’t come off as the scary type.”
Alex, “yeah, I am aware. I’ll call in some help.”
Alex, “There’s only one problem. By the time I call in for the help, if there’s any attack on the students of the school, then it could be troublesome. R-1’s team was injured quite badly and have retreated. There won’t be a line of defense anymore.”
“You don’t have to worry about that. I have someone on that task.” Luxario reassured with a smile.
Alex, “Hmm… Whatever is the case I’ll teach that demon a lesson next time we meet.”
Luxario, “There could be more coming the next time around, what would you do then?”
Alex only smirked and revealed, “The more the better.”
Luxario gave him a confused a confused look. By this time, he had very well understood Alex’s personality. He knew one thing for sure. His first and only disciple was a coward. He wondered what motivated him to think of this dangerous plan.
‘Are you thinking of using them?’ Miracle asked.
‘Well, power matters, right? I don’t see any reason, why I shouldn’t.’ Alex replied.
Later that night.
Rose was heading to the football field for a walk as many students does after dinner. She was walking alone at one side of the field. In spite of being monsoon, Up-hill Valley was hardly experiencing it. Still there was a certain amount of cold at night. As she reached the old shack, she saw Alex sitting on the stadium seats alone gazing at the sky.
“Hi” Rose greeted as she approached him.
“Hey” He waved to her.
Rose sat beside him as she rested her hands in her jacket.
Alex, “How are you?”
Rose, “Fine. You?”
Alex, “I am in a crisis.”
Rose tenses up internally. “And what would that be?”
“You wouldn’t believe me even if I tell you.” Alex said in a somber voice.
‘He must be thinking about the incident today.’ Rose internalized.
“You can still tell me if you want.” Rose said as she started gazing at the sky along with him.
‘What am I thinking, if he does ends up saying it, I’ll just be labelling him as crazy in his mind.’ Rose clicked her tongue.
Alex, “You see the thing is something’s been bugging me lately. That is…”
