I conceptualized this universe in a cathartic reimagining of {redacted}It uses similar characters if not direct "great value" rip offs.
The story follows theresa, a transhumanist demi human wolf “girl” (WOMAN) as she hunts and lives in a world of crude mechanically enhanced people in a world trapped in a supernatural perpetual winter that afflicts the north of the country she lives in. Starvation is very common and people do anything to survive, turning to their base instincts. But to make matters worse there are wendigos. The wendigo plague ravages the country and hunters like her make a living out of it. (thinking of adding animalistic vampires that serve a brood queen)
She is accompanied by her mechanic apprentice: Johan , a young man and the only person to ever warm up to her after her conversion to machine.
Their relationship is complicated, Johan is just happy to be with her but theresa struggles with the idea of being emotionally vulnerable to others so their relationship is merely platonical. to make matters worse her self image conflicts with her obsession with being in control and in power, that's the reason behind the more extreme modifications to her body.
In the past, a long time ago, theresa was a ruthless mercenary. She took what she wanted, killed, tortured and was generally a shit person. All a product of a chemical imbalance from birth and being born into a ruthless gang alongside her brother. She tried changing ways, joined the hunters guild and tried turning her life around without success, becoming a bitter drunk that constantly starts fights with townsfolk and stealing from them.
The townsfolk hated her and her party of equally terrible people, who wanted to suck the place out of resources and then hop to the next town.
theresa's life changed forever when a group of missionaries entered the town. In secret they were a demon, effectively an independent Tulpa that represented many things, both good and terribly perverse. The ultimate life form, an organism created through inhumane experiments on a human newborn, their magical power rivaling a god…a small one. And then there's a genius immortal an expert in all things biology and all enhancement sciences. their names were cartaphilo, alexandria and bellaphon
The missionaries genuinely wanted to help the town but they had no good will to the abusive group. All of them were tortured and their bodies twisted and modified to suit new needs or likes. they followed a new doctrine that believed in humanism and evolution. their god the evershifting aureum aeternam. representing change and evolution.
theresa’s fate was to be modified with a mechanical body. The body type was not hers, it felt like instead of rehabilitation she was effectively being turned into someone else. In truth cartaphilo was transforming her into an autonomous defense system for the recently indoctrinated town. To make matters worse, he replaced her face with that of another woman, alongside most of her features. The body type was inhuman, she didn't like how it made her feel and look. But it was mechanical nevertheless, so she wasn't changing as much as being ripped apart and then given replacements. She felt like a toy, and the command codes that made her compulsively obey didn't help.
What's worse through, a combination of half baked therapy, conditioning and Stockholm syndrome theresa falls in love with the great architect who in turn reciprocates the feeling. After the missionaries leave to indoctrinate a new town theresa follows them and has twins with cartaphilo. he is an absent but loving father and theresa didnt expect her children to look so much like their father. as such all the resentment she feels towards him sometimes is directed towards them, she’s also very insistent in the idea of not being suited for being a mother and being a horrible person (its true) for a time she tried to be a mother but was either too strict or too explosive . She “escapes” for many reasons ;one of them being that her children were better off without her or so she thought; and after a while finds a mechanical surgeon. She gets her modifications and tries to rebuild her own life and self image, scavenging for ancient archeotech that would give her enough power for her to feel safe and that she was in control of life and body.
Now let's explain her mods and new mechanical body:
Her body has two modes.
One that stores "fat" (it looks like a rigid barrel of pure armor think of cion from lol or a strongman body builder)for the sake of magical energy and another that is a slim mulscular one.
In the world of the original {redacted} magic had a set capacity and required study. However the capacity could be increased through unknown but unsavory means. It leads me to believe modifications to ones body and maybe human sacrifice are needed?
Getting the idea of giving her twins she abandoned with the three missionaries (one is a girl and the other a boy) because they remind her of their father. They resent each other deeply but they want to connect with her while she cordially shoos them. also the missionaries….i should probably change some stuff. cartaphilo is “the great architect” a mechanical genius that builds all sorts of impressive automatons and machinery. the reason the iron werewolf has a mechanical body to begin with is because she was a raider. she was about to strike a town when she was stopped and imprisoned by the architect. through conditioning and enhancement she was given a completely mechanical body and the mission to protect the town she was going to destroy. whats fucked up is that the powerful frame she was given has a carapace that looks like the body type the architect fancies (secretly resembling the figure of his diseased wife. and so they played house for a while and she gets pregnant. all this while they go town to town helping others. at some point she flees and becomes what she is now. she becomes obsessed with enhancement for 2 reasons 1 because she likes power and two because shes terrified of the idea of losing control over her own autonomy. so she gets her body so no one can play with it again.
aight she has one son or daughter but i’m still on the fence about giving her more than one.
She abandoned her children because of two reasons. the first was that she had a complicated relationship with her father (she obviously resented him and the twins remained her too much of him.) then she realized she was a terrible mother, being either too strict or having little sympathy for them. that combined with her own self image gave her the idea they would be better off without her.
the main antagonist is the last elf alive. hes has the entirety of all of his people’s souls and his sole purpose is being an obnoxious prick.
