Read The Soaring Wing :: Usui

It was roughly early morning as Skye woke up in her cabin. ‘5:07am’ the clock read. She’d open the door and take an early morning walk, being mindful not to step too harshly as everyone remained asleep…or so she thought; she came out onto the outside deck, and found glowing pawprints, following it until she spotted an angel dragon sitting on a ledge that overlooked the horizon.

Usui was known to be the Spotter due to his ‘Echolocation’ ability, always watching the horizon for landmarks or potential hazards. Even though that was his job, he mostly loved watching the sun rise every morning. He didn’t really mind the chilly morning air, as he was very much used to the cold. Though, once his ears twitched to register her presence, he shifted his gaze to face her. As Skye walked over, she observed her surroundings and admired the beautiful sky, but was also finding herself drawn to Usui’s comforting aura. She sat next to him, leaning forward and supporting herself with her forearms and her hands tucked under her chin.

Usui’s tail would sway back and forth as he took note of her presence, warmly smiling at her taking a seat beside him. While he was used to the chilly morning wind and it not bothering him, he was delighted to have someone to share the sight of the scenery and nice quiet morning noises with. He’d move over just a little bit to make room for her.

Skye’s tail swishes back and forth as well, mirroring Usui’s, as she relaxes herself. She found the quiet morning rather soothing, but his company added to the pleasant atmosphere that surrounded the two. She leaned her head down slightly, resting it on his shoulder as she looked up at him with a subtle smile. Usui was quite happy with this, giving her an amicable smile in return before leaning his head just a little bit to rest it against hers, sharing the moment together in quiet peace.

While Usui knew Skye to be rather quiet, he knew she was content just to be here with him as he watched her close her eyes to savor the moment. She found herself in a peaceful and calm place as he felt her breathe steadily.

“It’s very peaceful out here..it’s almost as if the world has stopped a little bit. I love watching the sunrise..especially from up here.”

He’d speak up in a soft tone as he looked over at her.

“It’s so nice…the calm, the quiet..”

Skye would say to echo his sentiment with a smile. It was easy for him to tell she was loving this as much as he was..the peaceful sky, in a moment seemingly frozen in time as they watched the sun rise. Her gaze followed his, their tails swaying together in rhythm.

"It's almost as if...like there's nothing going on that we need to worry about. Right now it's just..Us."

Usui would say as his tail kept up with hers. He was right, after all; it was like time had slowed, and nothing else mattered except the two of them enjoying this little moment. The rays of the rising sun softly caressed their fur as they basked in its beauty and felt the warmth blow in the wind..but they didn’t mind it at all. It made the experience all the more cozy.

He let out a soft sigh as he remained close to her.

"Time feels so much slower here, with the rise of the sun bringing us this beautiful moment together...and I am... glad I'm able to just sit here with you...enjoying this with you."

She’d look up at him with a warm smile.

“Me too.. it is a very lovely atmosphere to be in, and you letting me sit here with you only made this all the more enjoyable."

Usui’s ears would twitch some more.

“I couldn’t agree more..it’s such a good feeling knowing I now have a new friend by my side that I can do this with now, too. You can really feel the warmth of the morning sun, and it's more delightful with someone around. Thanks so much, Skye.”
