He is as impressed as I am. But I get some blue vibes when he sees me.
“Oh, darling, what were you doing?” His mother asks him.
“I was just… nothing, watching a movie.” What a lie. His eyes focused on me and Karla.
“Oh my goodness, where are my modals? I am Julia, it's so nice to have you here tonight! This is my husband Blake.” This woman is funny. Pretty expressive, the wrinkles around her eyes and mouth just show how much she likes to smile and laugh. She looks at my sister and says “Karla, thank you for coming and, you must be Liam, right?” She looks relieved we are here.
“Yes, that's me.” I say while chuckling at the situation. I give Julia the bottle of wine Karla and I brought with us.
“Thank you, you didn't have to.” She softly says "Karla, Liam, this is my son Lucas.”
“Hi Lucas.” Karla says in an enthusiastic voice. This woman.
“Hi” He answers in a bitter tone.
“Pfffffft…Lucas.” I say that with some traces of laughter but I have to be serious. Karla is too stunned to speak. It seems his parents haven't gotten any weird vibe from us though.
“Please, come in.” Blake says in a warm tone. Their house is so different from ours. Walls are painted in blue and green tones, there are pastel colors in the furniture and, what is this? I touch a bump on the couch in the living room and a black cat moves to see who interrupted its sleep. Sleepy gray eyes blink at me for a moment to be closed again. So pretty, this is my favorite host so far. It seems Karla is already making conversation with Julia and Blake, while I am just here, petting this bundle of joy.
“She will bite you, if you keep petting her.” Don't care, I am tempted to say but this is not my home. With a big effort in mind and body, I left the kitty be while seriously turning to see the man that took the joy from my hands.
“What's her name?” I ask Lucas.
“Biter” He must be kidding right? I just look at him but Biter gets up when hearing her name. She has white paws!
On the other hand, someone looks stylish tonight, heh? That white t-shirt looks nice and those beige pants make a good choice. Simple, I would say. Still, he looks nice.
“So Lucas, what do you do for fun here? Heh?” Did he just give me a mischievous look? There's no one behind me, right?
“Not too much as you can see.” Now, he looks at me with nostalgic eyes again. What's up with him? Did someone die? I am starting to think he is just tired, you know? Who knows what his day has been like or who his boss is, because he certainly has such a longing look on his face.
“Boooooooring.” I exaggerate “not even cards? You are my host, entertain me.” I say clicking my fingers. Now, there is the smile I liked two hours ago.
“You are pretty demanding, I am going to kick you out.” Oh, Oh, his mother was just entering the living room. Nice timing Liam.
“Lucas, don't be rude. Sorry Liam, sometimes he is such a handle.” I just nod at that with an innocent expression. “Dear, do you want a treat?” Again, I nod my head maintaining a sweet expression.
At last, something to eat. “Lucas, bring the sweets box.” She orders him. He just looks at me with an ‘I will get you later’ expression. I give him a mocking fainting scene while his mother is busy scolding him.
“Don't pay too much attention Liam, he is a good boy. I don't know what got into him.” If Julia knew the bad influence is me, how would things be, right? I laugh internally while answering with total kindness.
“Don't worry, might be arriving at a new place.” Or meeting a certain someone.
“Still, he has always been so polite.” That's right. We are going to change that a tiny bit. I hear someone coming again, and I sit down besides Biter. “Lucas, where is the box?” His mother asks.
“I didn't find it” You liar, here I am starving and you are playing games.
“That's weird, I will check and come back.” looking at her, it seems Lucas took a lot after her mom. The same shade of blonde hair, similar shape of eyes and skin tone. Good genetics.
When I don't hear his mother's steps anymore I say.
“Tell me the truth, you are adopted, right?”
“You piece of sh*t.”
“Chill out, big biceps.” Oh, he blushes. This is fun.
“Where are the candies? You liar.” I scold him. I know perfectly well he hid them. He just mimics my innocent face from some moments ago and takes… ohh, is that a chocolate bar with gummies in it? Yes, it is.
“Give me that.” I tried to snatch it from him. He must be having the time of his life knowing he is taller and I can't reach his hand when is raised. He just laughs at my poor attempt while defying me with his eyes. Stupid green eyes, why are they so enchanting?
Focus dude, focus. I think I have an idea.
“Why are you making that face?” he says.
“Which one?” I play dumb.
“The EVIL grin.” He ends the sentence while I jump and start tickling his ribs. It seems it worked because he starts laughing like crazy. He drops the candy bar and I snatch it before he grabs it.
“That's not fair.” he says while I open the treat and bite a chunk of it. What I did not expect is for him to jump back at me.
We just tumble over the couch while he catches both of my wrists with his hands. Still, I don't drop the candy bar. What is he thinking? He behaves like a child.
Umm, so do I, now that I think about it.
While we wrestle, we do not hear the noise caused by Julia steps approaching the dining room.
“OH MY GOODNESS, LUCAS, WHAT ARE YOU DOING?
Lucas scrambles to his feet, with his t-shirt all rumpled and his hair totally disheveled. His cheeks are red from the movement. He just looks at me and paralyzes.
“Oh, Julia.” I say while scrambling to my feet with total calmness “I was just telling your son I wrestled in school. Right Lucas?” It seems that statement brought him back to the present.
“Yeah, mom. Isn't it cool?” His mom just shakes her head like if she were battling with two kiddos. She laughs at the absurdity of the situation and says.
“You two would be pure chaos.” she laughs while we nervously do the same. “ By the way, it seems your dad took the box somewhere else. I couldn't find it anywhere. Sorry Liam.”
“No problem, Lucas already gave me something.” I say while munching on a piece of the bar left.
“Oh, he did? That's my boy.” I think he is still in an internal battle about killing me or not because he just nods at her.
“Dinner is about to be ready though. Lucas, your clothes are all rumpled.” I am going to lose against my laugh. He is such a spoiled man. Lucas' mom gets out of the living room after mentioning we should be ready to eat in five minutes, giving me the perfect moment to say.
“I have a doubt.” He just plainly looks at me and says “Ask.”
“If I have seen you three times already, why can't I remember your face?” His face goes completely pale, did I do something wrong
