"What do you want to do?" The director’s words echoed in my mind as I felt Julian touch my shoulder and gently help me stand. We left the principal’s office slowly. Julian took me to the parking lot of the university and told me to get into his car. "You would show me your address, please," Julian said once he settled into the pilot’s seat. I just stared at nothing without answering. I heard Julian sigh, "Let’s have dinner," he said firmly and I nodded.
I spent a long time looking out the window until Julian took me out of my thoughts by opening the door where I was recharged. "Come down, the food will get cold," Julian said as he walked away from me. I take off my seat belt and get out of the car letting the air blow my skin. I raise my hand to cover my eyes and look for Julián. After a few seconds of searching, I see him sitting on the steps of a kiosk. I walk up to him and without saying anything, he makes room for me on the stairs while handing me a bag.
We ate in silence for a long time, letting the air take away some of the weight I felt on my shoulders; and once I was calm, Julian’s voice reached my ears. "I’m glad you’re calmer, let’s go home". I nodded slightly and before standing up I said "Thank you, for giving me some time" Julian smiled and helped me stand. We walked back to the car talking about the food we had eaten, my mind felt lighter.
"What do you think I should do?" I asked without looking away. "Nothing I say will help, only you know what you have lived and how you feel about it," Julián said firmly and with kindness. "Still, I think it would be best if you did nothing. I’m not saying act like things haven’t happened, I just don’t think it’s worth spending your time on them," said Julian before giving me an uncomfortable but warm smile.
Once we arrived at my home, I thanked Julián and entered once I saw him disappear on the way. I dropped into bed totally exhausted and not wanting to change my clothes. I look at the clock sideways and let loose a long sigh when I see that I am a few hours from going back to class. I turn to see the ceiling and I start to think about everything that has happened in so few days and if I will manage to continue despite everything. Immersed in my thoughts, slowly the weariness took hold of me and I fell into a deep sleep.
My body feels heavy, the rain covers my body completely. I slowly rise from the ground and feel my side prick, under my eyes to see and I feel the blood staining my clothes. Before I understand what’s going on, I hear screams, heartbreaking screams from a woman. I walk towards the screams, seeing a female figure bathed in blood screaming heartbreakingly as she sat on the inert body of a man. The woman notices me and begins to move in my direction.
Raul let out a scream and woke up with a bang, bathed in his sweat turned to see his watch. It was time for his classes, but instead of rushing, Raúl took his face in his hands and sobbed for a few minutes. After changing, he went to the kitchen, prepared a sandwich and sat down at the table; still trying to process the emotions that brought that dream afloat. So when someone knocked on his door, fear gripped him. Raúl seemed to sink into an abyss. *"Open the door" whispered in his ear.*
Those words got me out of my thoughts, I didn’t know who could have said them, but they helped me regain control of my actions. I stood up from the chair and walked to the door. I took a deep breath and opened. My fast heart calmed down when I saw the parcel clerk, took the parcel that extended me and thanked him before entering.
I went back to the dining room leaving the package on the table to see the sender, but when I saw my mother’s name, I took my backpack and ran. I spent all the way to college thinking about that package and reliving the dream I had had, to the extent that I completely forgot the question the principal asked me, and I was only able to think of it again when I saw Aaron get off his motorcycle in the parking lot. I stood like a statue unable to make any movement when he turned and stood before me. I felt a knot in my throat and before I could utter any sound Julian appeared.
"The director asked to talk to you before your classes, I was surprised to not see you in your classroom so I went out to look for you, I’m glad I found you, it seems that you will fall at any time," said Julián with concern in his voice. "I’m sorry, I didn’t have the best morning," I said reluctantly. The secretary nodded and then accompanied me to the principal’s office.
"Raul, I’m glad you arrived, take a seat," Mr Cortez said quickly when I entered his office accompanied by Julián. Before long I was sitting on one of the chairs in the office with a cup of coffee and snacks. "I see that you are not in the best condition, and I am sorry to have to do this, but I would like to know what your answer is to the question I asked you yesterday," the director said softly. For a few seconds I stared at the cup that was in my hands, not knowing for sure what to answer, I remembered what Julián had said to me the night before and I said "I would like your permission for my career to be online instead of face-to-face".
