Kai's first fight here was about to begin.

He looked around to his new friends, wondering if he'd live to see them again.

Marcy looked scared, but determined to protect her companions. Lapras looked the way they did when he first met them.

If it weren't for them, he wouldn't be here.

He'd be stuck in the previous room.

He might not have survived his first night.

This wouldn't be goodbye.

He'd make sure of it.

Thorny vines shot up from the ground, attempting to entrap the trio.

They caught Lapras, but soon found out Lapras was made of water.

Marcy and Kai fought off the others pretty well, Marcy's surprise knife coming in handy.

The vines, as if knowing they weren't doing much, pulled back to let another threat forward.

The figure in the Lion mask lunged forward, a pink, translucent shield in hand.

He was heading straight for Marcy, when Lapras tackled his side in protection.

He looked down at his attacker and froze, noticing something. Kai had no idea what, but it luckily made him retreat.

"Alright, Azure," said the next attacker, a menacing looking dragon. "We tried this your way."

"Guess it's up to Torch to complete the mission."

"Her way."

She stepped forward slowly, confidently and menacingly, the grass beneath her feet reduced to black, smoking remains.

She breathed in.

She breathed out fire.

This was the end.

He raised his hands in futile resistance, begging his scorched remains would shield his two friends behind him.

He closed his eyes as the fire came rushing in.

Kai opened his eyes and looked down, very surprised not to see his own charred corpse and ghostly wisps.

Something's wrong, He thought.

He looked up and saw something he could only have dreamt of before.

The flames curved around him as if he were holding up an invisible shield.

As if he were bending the fire to his will.

He turned behind him, his friends looking just as surprised as he was, and just as grateful to be alive.

The fire cleared, Kai now able to see the very confused stance of the dragon.

"She's- she's alive!" Said the one in the blue mask.

"But how did they..." Began the one in the green mask.

"KAI!" Marcy yelled from behind him.

She was standing next to a new portal, Lapras draped around her shoulders.

"WHA- OH NO YOU DON'T!" Exclaimed the dragon.

He made a break for it.

The dragon made a break for him.

Marcy and Lapras hopped into the portal mist, himself entering soon after.

He swiveled round, catching a glimpse of the portal closing on the dragon, and then a thud told him she'd just ran head first into a tree.

In the short walk between worlds, he had some time to think.

To reflect.

To wonder what the actual hell just happened.

It felt scary to think that he could kill someone that easily.

But also reassuring.

Whatever he and his friends faced, he could protect them all that much more now!

After all, he had a bad feeling that the worst hadn't come to pass.
