Yards away from the Kingdom, a group of people waited patiently for the signal. A young lady who floats on her broom stick nervously looks inside her book of spells. A tall dark-skin man sniffing out the area with two axes attached to each side of his belt. He smiles with excitement.
“Man, I’m surprised this is finally happening.”
“You don’t think she will lead us to our doom, do you?” the young witch looked up from her book.
“Oh, that’s right, you’re new to the party. Madam is one hell of a warrior. She’s been training since the age of 8 and the battles she fought, she had always remained the victor.” He leaned towards her. “Now what you’re thinking is we’re about to invade a kingdom full of phoenixes?”
“Yes!” she freaked out gripping her book.
“I will say this, Lana, trust her, she won’t disappoint.” Beatrix responded laying on a tree branch.
“Is she coming with us?”
“Yes, it’s all part of the plan.”
Inside the kingdom the wall clock ticks echoing through the halls. The king slept in the middle of the bed as the queen was positioned further away from the king. 12:25 AM. Arpina was in her room sleeping. 12:30 AM. Seraphina was asleep in her room. Finally, the clock rested at 12:35 AM. Commander Cody was in his office without a helmet completing his forms. He looked at the clock and saw how late it had gotten. When he placed the pen in the holder a loud crash occurred in the building.
“What was that?!” He stood up quickly from his desk.
The soldiers on the first floor of the kingdom were fighting the intruders lurking from afar. Beatrix rammed her blade through the soldier chest against the wall. A phoenix troop charges at her sword in the air with rage. She parried his attack and slashed horizontally at his neck. At the other end of the hall, Andrea runs to each soldier chopping off a different limb on their body. The hall was being redecorated with splatters of blood.
“I wonder who will get to the king and queen first!” He looked back at Beatrix still fighting.
“I wouldn’t do that if I were you.” She kicked the soldier off her sword. “I’d leave them to Madam.”
Cody zips out of his office without his helmet and hurries to the king and queen room. At that time, he could hear the clinging of blades slowly drowning out the higher he got to the third floor. He grips their door handle and bursts through the room.
“Your majesty! The kingdom is under attack!”
“Do you know who?” the king woke, pulling one leg out from the covers as the queen gasped from the news.
“No, but our men are doing their best as we speak.”
“Agni, I need you to stay in here with Commander Cody.” He looked back at his wife proposing an order.
“I understand. Go and defend our kingdom while I send Arpina and Sera a message.”
The queen cuffs her hand forming flames in the inside. She closes her eyes to transfer the message to the flames. Agni opens them, uncuff her hands revealing two small phoenixes in the palm of her hands.
“Find them, quickly!”
The phoenixes fly out to find Arpina and Sera rooms. Lady Arpina was the first to receive her message. The small fire bird landed next to her face bouncing off her pillow.
“The kingdom is under attack! The kingdom is under attack!”
“Huh?” she rubbed her eyes. “What did you say?”
“The kingdom is under attack! Danger! Danger!”
“What?! What of the king and queen?!” She quickly got out of bed to get dressed.
“They are in their room preparing.”
Sera turned over in her bed when suddenly the phoenix flew into her room.
“Princess! Princess!” Seraphina groaned, opening her eyes with a yawn. “The kingdom is under attack!”
“What?” she said half asleep.
“Get up and fight! The kingdom is in danger!”
Sera looked down at the small phoenix worried. The soldiers were slowly dying from the raid and the rest were backing away slowly pointing their swords at the enemy. One soldier looked at the fallen ones and the blood-stained walls and floor.
“I don’t understand, why aren’t they waking up? We were given the ability to regenerate from severe wounds, but they aren’t waking up.” He panicked under his breath.
Beatrix watched how cowardly the soldiers were. The feathers on her collar vibrated questioning the men who discovered her weird antics. Before they knew it, a swarm of crows flew in from the opened windows feasting on the soldiers.
“Now that they are occupied, Lana is on the second floor which is where the princess is located. The king and queen are located on the third floor according to my crow.”
“Then let’s reveal the guest of honor.” smirked Andrea.
Lana stands in the middle of the hallway with dead soldiers, lose clothing, armor and dead frogs while holding her wand in her hand. A crow flies in from the window cawing at Lana for the cue.
“It’s time? She stretches out her arm with the wand in her hand. “Rah ram, bring out the Madam.”
A large smoke cloud appeared slowly stretching out in the hallway. Arpina was heading in that direction and stopped at the roadblock.
“You know I can sense you through the smoke, right?” she threw a fire ball into it.
The flame went in without a hit towards the person. Arpina squinted her eyes to look for the intruder. Through the smoke you can see a figure walking towards her, and her presence disturbed Arpina instincts. Her lips parted sensing the danger of this mysterious enemy.
“Danger. We must retreat!”
She runs backwards away from the threat, but several doors down was Princess Seraphina room. She opened the door revealing her transformation gear. Sera looks to the right watching the smoke creep further down the hallway.
“Who are you and why are you in our home?” she demanded.
The mysterious silhouette continued walking. Sera formed her flaming fans in both her hands ready to attack.
“If you think silence is going to intimidate me, then you’re wrong?”
The fans flung towards the person and died out in an instant. Sera threw a few fire balls, and they still counteracted the projectiles. Sera stepped back amazed.
“That’s impossible! Phoenix flames cannot be touch by any weapon it incinerates it!”
The smoke was slowly disappearing, and the opponent raised her right arm with an attached crossbow weapon. Seraphina has been shot in the leg. She screams in pain falling to the floor feeling the sting of the iron arrowhead embedded in her flesh. Her inner phoenix shakes informing the princess of the danger. Sera stands up without a sound limping on one leg to avoid her. The enemy shoots Sera in the other leg.
“AAGH!”
Sera falls to the floor using her strength to crawl away from the enemy. Danger was only a few steps away from the wounded princess.
