Gimp took a moment to explore the surroundings while also reflecting on his own thoughts, soaring through the night sky with the company of moonlight and stars. "Should I be true to myself, or will I frighten him away like I did with my own kind?" he wondered. Gimp felt a wave of frustration and let out a scream of confusion and anger. He rubbed his head in exasperation.
He suddenly heard a voice, "Did you hear that?" Another voice quickly followed, "Quiet down, idiot. You'll blow our cover!" Gimp scanned the sky, searching for the source of the voices. It was then that he spotted three members of Rhino's gang. Gimp quietly pondered, "What on Rikros are they doing here?"
The leader of the three bandits didn't hesitate to answer, "It's all because of that demon. After we finish off Asukem, we'll handle the one who took Rhino's heart!" Another bandit questioned, "What about the little one?" The leader glared angrily, "That little Rat? We'll capture him again and make him wish he was never born!"
Gimp was shocked by what he heard. He shook his head, tumbled from a tree, and landed on the ground. Wincing in pain, he murmured, "Oh dear, Fayte." Gimp stood up and flew away urgently, muttering, "I need to alert Asukem about his sister!" Rushing back to the camp, Gimp found Asukem fast asleep. It was then that Gimp smacked himself on the cheeks and declared, "No, I can't always depend on him in times of trouble. I need to look out for myself; what kind of friend would I be otherwise!"
Gimp began collecting stones, leaves, and sticks from the ground. He stacked them up and extended his hands as if attempting to cast a spell or enchant them. However, nothing happened, which left Gimp feeling frustrated and cursing under his breath. In desperation, he looked up to the sky and pleaded, "Please, anyone! Great Divines! Help me protect my friend, Damn it!" He made another attempt at casting a spell. To his surprise, a spark of fire emerged from his hands, accompanied by a voice saying, "Finally, you're starting to believe, Mr. Darkrune. For now, I will grant you the power to use magic and aid your friend."
Gimp soared off in search of the bandits once more. After scouring the area thoroughly, he finally spotted them again. Perching on a tree branch, he enchanted his voice to sound deep and menacing before warning, "Stay back, you ungrateful scoundrels!" The bandits froze in fear, one of them shouting, "What in Rikros was that!" They frantically scanned their surroundings with nervous expressions. Gimp reached into his bag, pulled out some stones, enchanted them, and hurled them at the bandits. The rocks transformed into fireballs, narrowly missing their targets. Despite the failed attack, the illusion was effective; two bandits stumbled backward, screaming in terror. The leader urged the others, "Pull yourselves together; someone is trying to intimidate us!" The bandits regained their composure, but fear still lingered in their eyes as they cautiously approached Asukem and Gimp's campsite.
Gimp quickly returned to the campsite, anticipating the arrival of the bandits. He readied himself for the impending fight. The leaves and branches he had collected were scattered around the campsite, and he used his fire magic to ignite them. The flames created a barrier but emitted no heat - merely an illusion to deceive the bandits. When the bandits finally arrived, Gimp was prepared to face them.
The leader's eyes narrow as he gazes at the barrier, questioning, "What kind of sorcery is this?" Gimp observes the bandits fixated on the wall of flames. He takes flight, preparing himself, and boldly declares, "Back off; I'll defend Asukem with everything I've got!" The leader locks eyes with Gimp, chuckling mockingly, "So, it was you behind all of this, you little rat! Do you honestly believe you can take on the three of us?"
Gimp reached into his pouch and pulled out some stop. With a mischievous grin, he exclaimed, "Why not give it a shot?" He hurled the stones, and they transformed into tiny sparks of fire. As they neared their targets, they erupted into fiery explosions. One of the fireballs struck a bandit, causing him to shriek in agony as he vanished into thin air.
Meanwhile, Asukem tossed and turned, disturbed by the screams and moans in his slumber. The second fireball morphed into wild lightning bolts upon impact, jolting the remaining bandit. The echoes of the bandit's shocked cries filled the air. Fed up, Asukem finally snapped, "Gimp, be quiet and go to sleep!" He rolled over, hoping to find some rest.
The bandit chief witnessed the demise of his two comrades. Enraged, he bellowed, "You worthless piece of filth! I'll end you!" He then targeted Gimp with his crossbow and fired. Gimp, mesmerized by the sorcery he possessed, failed to notice the arrow until it struck his shoulder. Falling through the air, Gimp let out a cry of agony, jolting Asukem awake. Asukem demanded, "Gimp, what in Rikros..."
Asukem, taken back, looked at the barrier and then heard a gimp screaming and falling from the sky. Asukem quickly catches him. Asukem yells in concern, "Gimp, Gimp, what happened?" Gimp pointed at the leader of the bandits. Asukem looked where Gimp pointed, and matter of seconds, Asukem's glance turned into a glare of rage and wrath.
An image took shape amidst the fiery barrier. It was an amalgamation of loyalty and fury, akin to a wolf emerging from the flames, sensing Asukem's negativity. Asukem's eyes burned crimson hatred as he strode through the illusory inferno. The bandit leader's eyes widened in terror, attempting to flee. However, Asukem stealthily moved through the shadows, seizing the leader by the throat, and bellowed angrily, "Where do you think you're headed?" The leader could only gasp as Asukem forcefully slammed him onto the ground, crushing his windpipe. "That's right, nowhere."
Asukem's gaze shifted swiftly to Gimp, his anger melting into worry in an instant. Without hesitation, Asukem dashed toward Gimp, gently lifting him up while reassuring him, "Hang in there, Gimp. There must be a village in the Wolverfang forest." With determination, Asukem sprinted towards the Wolverfang forest to seek aid for Gimp.
Asukem, an 18-year-old orphan from Rikros, is transformed into a sinkin by an evil demon who wields power to torment souls with her lust. Ah'keim, a powerful being with a mysterious ulterior motive, mentors him as he struggles to regain his humanity and undo the damage caused by the female demon. With the help of new friends who try to help him escape his fate as a sinkin, Asukem sets out to fight the void and gain control over his powers, all while seeking redemption for his past sins.
