When class was finally over, he finally headed to the arena where the coach, who was his grandfather, and his teammates were. He had been playing basketball since he was a child, thanks to his grandfather.
Tyler is very sporty, sport has been a passion for him since he was a child. It was his grandfather who instilled in him the passion for sports. When he was little, he used to play with his grandfather, and it was always his favorite time of the day. He had a huge respect for his grandfather and thus appreciates him very much. He was closer to his grandfather than to his father.
Tyler was also close to his teammates and the team captain, they all got along well, which was quite rare in teams as there were often differences between teammates in any sports team.
Their basketball team was actually quite atypical and surprisingly strong. Diego was also part of the basketball team.
"How are you doing, son?"
"It's okay, Grandpa, I'll go change quickly and be right back".
"Hurry up, everyone is waiting for you, you're the only one missing. Your Latino friend is starting to jump around."
Tyler changed quickly before joining the field.
"Dude, what are you doing? We are waiting for you!"
"Sorry for the delay, guys,"
"It's nothing, Tyler. Diego is just a little too excited" said the captain of the team
"So everyone, first you warm up, then you go do some exercises in pairs, and we'll finish with a 40- minute game as usual. Any questions? No? Ok you can start then,"
The coach was actually a pretty nice guy and respected by the team. He never yelled at them and never got mad. He treated everyone like they were his grandson, which was really kind of him. Underneath his tough exterior was a big heart. And the whole team knew that, which is why they adored the coach.
Playing on the field was fun in more ways than one,
He wasn't actually very good at basketball, nor the strongest on the team, but he thought he was doing pretty well. The years of playing basketball with his grandfather had helped a lot.
"Hey man, do you know that girl who came to see us last time has a crush on you?" asked Diego while shooting a basket.
"What girl?" asked Tyler, even though he already knew who he was talking about.
Diego was a flirt and a party animal at heart. He could spend his days flirting and never get tired of it, but he found that being with only one girl was boring. That's why he never dated anyone for too long. He thought that love never lasts forever and that you always end up getting "bored." He doesn't understand how old couples manage to grow old and end their lives together.
He could sometimes be a little sloppy and had trouble focusing, but for Tyler, he was a good, funny, positive friend who brightened up some people's days and put everyone in a good mood, even though he could be a jerk at times. He was a cool, no nonsense guy, never got in over his head, and never got into a fight.
He was able to charm girls because of his physical appearance and not because of his "intelligence" or "beautiful soul," as he had once suggested. Diego was a handsome Latino with a beautiful honey/caramel color, and he was quite fit physically. Since he had locks, the women were much more charmed. Women like a man with locks. It's not just a myth. And Tyler knew it, because since he had also gotten locks at the same time as Diego, girls became more interested in him than before.
"You know, the one with the black streaks that kept looking at you during Alex's party?."
"Hmmm, I don't remember," feigned Tyler.
"Tyler, you have to be more careful with potential girls who hit on you," groaned Diego.
As they finished the drills, they finally moved on to the long awaited game. Most of them didn't care for the warm-ups or drills the coach had asked for, even though they were actually surprisingly useful. Everyone wanted to feel the thrill of competition and the adrenaline that comes with and rivalry.
As they finished the game with a perfect tie, an extra 5 minutes was added because of the tied score. And Tyler's team ended up losing, all due to a few points.
"That's fine everyone, we'll pick this up next week. Go change." Coach said
Tyler was sweating, as were the rest of his teammates. It wasn't long before they were rushing to the showers. The showers were communal, so privacy wasn't in the cards. There were always conversations in the shower that made little sense to Tyler, even though it was pretty hilarious.
"Who's got the biggest one out of all of us?" asked a teammate mockingly.
"It's for sure me, the girls are always shocked when they see mine," boasted Diego.
"You guys are always comparing yourselves," another one huffed, exasperated.
"I bet he's got a little one," Tyler laughed.
"Eh, mine is just as big," replied the indignant teammate.
"Prove it," Tyler challenged.
"And you, why don't you show yours instead, huh?" his partner provoked.
"No problem," Tyler nodded in a nonchalant tone before showing off his full nakedness to his teammates.
"Dude, I'm always so impressed every time I see him," Diego murmured in admiration.
"Diego, how come you always see him?" asked a teammate.
"You've seen it a lot, haven't you?" sneered another teammate.
"Haha, very funny, guys." Diego forced a laugh while rolling his eyes.
"Anyway, it's cheating, everyone knows that blacks have a big one," said the teammate furiously.
"What a stereotype! You're just saying that because you'd like to have mine! Yours clearly doesn't satisfy your girlfriend, so it must be hard." Tyler laughed.
"Especially if you need advice, I'm here," Tyler said with a falsely sympathetic look on his face, which made everyone burst out laughing.
Teasing was part of their team. Although they often teased each other, it was always without malice and fun. They all poked each other without being bothered by it.
"You won, the point is yours this time," grumbled the teammate while trying to hide his smile.
After they finally finished showering while continuing to tease each other, they went home. He invited Diego to come get ready together for the Halloween party tonight at Madison's house.
Tyler lived in a beautiful, colorful Victorian house. The house had three floors, four bedrooms and two bathrooms. The house was painted a beautiful pastel blue color that blended into the sky. The house was originally gray, but he had learned in class that Victorian houses in San Francisco had been covered in gray during World War II, but it wasn't until 1963 that an artist decorated his house in blue and green. This had led some to paint their houses afterward as well. That's why, today, many of the gray Victorian houses have been repainted in bright colors.
And today, the process continues.
When he arrived home, he realized that his parents and brothers were all there today, but that only his mother was absent.
His mother used to be gone often because of her modeling job. Absences had once bothered Tyler as a child, but now he was happy that his mother could do the job she had dreamed of since childhood. He was proud of his mother and what she stood for. Because she represented fat women, women with roundness and stretch marks.
She inspires people who suffered because of the norms of society (skinny, muscular, smooth hair, light skin, flat stomach, etc.) to gain self-confidence and take responsibility.
His mother, with her modeling agency, also does prevention with her team when she has free time in certain schools or institutions to educate young people about the dangers of modeling and also about how to have more self-confidence. And raise awareness about harassment and the consequences that could result from it because of a person's appearance or physique.
