As Jay stood impatiently on Ted's doorstep, tapping his foot with growing annoyance, he finally heard the sound of footsteps approaching. "Teeeeed." he called out, drawing out his friend's name with a mixture of wait and longing. Each syllable echoed the time spent waiting.
Ted was taken aback to find his boss at his doorstep. While such visits were not uncommon between them, today Ted hadn't expected him to show up, especially since he was supposed to be on an unplanned date with Muskan.
“What are you doing here?” He asked out of curiosity.
“Why are you so late?” Jay complained with a pouty face.
The way Jay called him made him understand that a storm is going to enter his house today, and that storm's name was Jay. So, without asking any questions, he unlocked his room and the supposedly elder guy followed like a small child.
Just like a child coming home from school and eagerly telling everything to his mother in one breath. Jay used to tell Ted everything. This time, too, he was ready to listen to his every word, but to his surprise, that didn't happen. Jay went straight to the kitchen, grabbed a packet of chips, and sat comfortably on the couch, engrossed in watching TV.
Since their recent return to the country, Jay arranged for a modest two-bedroom apartment at Ted's urging, insisting on living separately. Meanwhile, Jay resided in a penthouse owned by his late grandfather, a property inherited to him, upon his grandparents' demise.
Despite being surrounded by luxury and amenities, Jay found himself drawn to simplicity and modesty. And that was why in the first place these two became friends and then their bond grew stronger.
Ted came out freshening up and saw the scenario with a knowing look. “Here we go again.” He mumbled to himself with a grin.
“Ah! You came. I ordered pizza. Which one do you want?” Jay asked him while ordering something on his phone.
As the mention of pizza danced into conversation, Ted couldn't help but reminisce about his pizza dinner (probably an unofficial date) with Riya. A subtle smile graced his lips, and Jay swiftly caught onto it.
“Oh! What is this? You are smiling? What is going on?” Jay said, teasing him.
" I'm not hungry. I had my dinner." Ted deflected Jay's questions and teasing, averting his gaze as he made his way to the kitchen under the guise of fetching a drink from the fridge.
Something dawned on him, and he casually slipped in a question, hoping to downplay its significance. "By the way, have you heard anything about MJ?"
“ Huh? No. What happened in MJ?”
“It seems Mr. Sahay is bothered with MJ’s entry into the market? He has offered a partnership offer under the pretense of helping us settle well in the market. I believe he aims-”
“To control MJ so that it won’t affect the market of Roy Celebrations.” Jay completed his words.
“Yes. So what do you think we should do?”
“ I think we should let RC know that MJ might be new, but it’s not greenhorns.”
Ted nodded in agreement and promptly made his way to his computer desk to draft an email. As he typed away, Jay hovered behind him, leaning on his shoulders to read the content of the email. Just as Ted finished typing, he glanced back at Jay for permission to send. With Jay's approval granted, the email was sent off in a flash.
"Well done!" Jay patted Ted's back approvingly, offering him praise for a job well done.
