'If you are going to betray my mother in the end, why get close to her? Stay out of my mother's path, dirty bastard!' A filthy traitor should not be around Evangeline's kind mother.

All Evangeline could do was pout and scowl at the man. Evangeling notices the obvious hate in the high priest's eyes as he smiles down at her. "How about I begin by holding your cherished daughter, my beautiful Rose? Grinning, he says to Evangeline's mother, "You must be exhausted after holding her all this time."

'You filthy old man! My mother is not named that! Give up referring to her as Rose and quit calling her yours!' Evangeline wanted to scream at him, but all she showed was dissatisfaction, and her mom chuckled to herself. She responds, "All right, high priest," and Evangeline senses her mother's discomfort.

Evangeline was taken from her mother's grip by the high priest, who held her close to him. Looking at Evangeline, he remarks, "My, she really does look like you. Of course, her facial expressions are nothing like yours. Those expressions must have come from her father." The reason behind his statement was evident. It felt as though Evangeline was being shamed for not having a father, and her mother was being shamed for having a child before being married.

With a horrified expression on her face, Evangeline looked at him and then at her mother. Her mother smiled exclusively at the high priest. an imposed one. The high priest responds, "Of course, Evangeline already looks lovely like you," which enrages and infuriates Evangeline. 'How could you humiliate my own mother and then carry on as if it never happened!'

'Can I inflict even a little pain on him?' As she raised her little hand to the high priest, Evangeline pondered to herself. His smile disappears as he replies, "Looks like she could have taken a fancy to me." With her little fist, she tightened her grip on his hair and tugged. "Ugh!" He cried out in agony as the baby pulled at his hair 'You never underestimate an infant's strong grip.'

"Oh my god!" Her mother hurried over to the two, saying, "High priest, please do not move around so much! In an attempt to defuse the tension, her mother replies, "Babies typically do that to investigate their surroundings." False. She loathes him, which is why she is doing this! Evangeline is familiar with her surroundings already. Her only desire was to hurt this repulsive monster.

Evangeline released his hair as her mother carefully removed her from his hold. The high priest rubs the spot where Evangeline had pulled, moaning in mild discomfort. 'You should consider yourself fortunate. I would have plucked out your hair and left a bald spot on your head if my mother had not dragged me away so soon!'

"Please forgive me." Her mother looks at him worriedly and says, "I hope that she did not pull too hard." With a smile, he shook his head. "No. I am fine, thanks. Babies use that, as you mentioned, to investigate their environment."

'Observe him. It is evident he is angry that I tugged at his hair. Regarding it, what action are you planning to take?' Evangeline cursed at him in her head, 'I am only a few months old and do not know any better.'

"Okay, I will head out now. I need to go back to work; I have already taken up enough of your time." He tells her mother and then nods to Evangeline. "Evangeline, good-bye. Until we meet again, my rose." After reversing direction, he leaves via the door.

Evangeline became even more sour: 'You idiot, I warned you that is not her name! Nora is her name!' Though Evangeline was upset, she is relieved that he eventually left the two alone. "Alright, Evangeline. Should we begin instructing you in crawling?" Her mother smiles and asks, looking down at her. 'I ought to start getting used to crawling. I have to stop being worthless soon!'

At last, a few years have gone by, and Evangeline is now five years old. "Would you like to accompany me to the market, Evangeline?" As her mother asks, Evangeline excitedly nods. "Yes! I would like to go with mommy!" Although she still finds it awkward to act like a child, she does not want anyone to see her. When the church discovers that Evangeline learns more quickly than the average child, how will they react? After Evangeline was discovered reading a book in a foreign language one day, her mother already believed that she was a genius!

'Now that I can help her a little more,' Evangeline is happy that she is no longer a baby and has the ability to assist her mother a bit more. Evangeline's mother combed her hair and dressed her for their outing into town. Despite their slight mistrust of the two, the town's residents were nevertheless friendly.
