I had just freshened up and food was brought to my room since I claimed to be sick.
"Thank you.″ Everything seems to be going well. "Asha Alina Alba!"
"Father?" I quickly step out of bed. What have I done now?
I could hear him approaching so I jumped in bed again and made my best sick face.
"What's this I hear you met with Anubis? Asha?"
I start coughing. "Your sudden fever answers my questions. Onlookers say you were kind to him... In front of the prince!"
"Hannan! Leave my baby to sleep! They're all baseless accusations. Have you eaten yet?″
Always count on my mother against my father. She'll yell at me at her own time. "I understand you must feel sorry for him after hearing story. It's sad but he's evil. He doesn't feel anything for you. So it's best you keep your distance."
"She allegedly met him once Hannan don't be dramatic."
After some more silly bickering dad left. "I know you're only pretending get up."
I sit on my butt and look at my mother. "When did onlookers even see me? Everyone ran to hide. The only people who were there was... Ahh that Blondie! I'm sure she—"
"Hey don't divert from the main topic. Didn't we say we're focusing on the prince?"
"And I said there were other options. He has that Keres with him. Who's clouded in mystery." I rolled my eyes. "Plus mama the prince doesn't like me at all. He acts like he's seeing me for the first time each day. I'm just another blackhead girl to him."
"My daughter is not generic! Asha my dear if you are seen with the demon king people will start talking they will think you are actually are bad. Evil! When you are not."
"Honestly mama what even is good? If Kedrick the God's favoured soul didn't even treat his brother with a little kindness. As good we're supposed to not hate. Right?"
"You hate your enemy. You hate the one who's against what you believe in Asha. Kedrick is our only hope. Once he becomes king he'll rid of all evil. And we'll finally live without fear."
"You're right I guess. Can I eat now?"
"Fine. Goodnight then." She kisses my forehead.
"Mama."
"Yes?″
"You love me right?"
"More than you'll ever know."
"Every mother loves her children. Maybe more than the father." She adds.
"Then why wasn't the demon king ever loved by his mother? Maybe if his mother gave him love he'd be good. Right?"
Mother sighs and places her hand on my head. "I had thought you had grown up but looks like you still have to lot to know about this world. Something's should be left unsaid."
I hate it when she does that. I just want to know the actual truth. Real answers.
I've never questioned all this before. But the way Anubis looked and acted it made me question everything I've been thought.
"Demons will lie and manipulate to get their way Asha. Don't trust them ever."
Yes. They're cheats and nothing good ever comes out of them.
So many have suffered to the hands of demons. Yet so many demons have suffered to the hands of humans as well.
Where do we draw the line of justice and recklessness?
And how do you distinguish a human from a demon. I looked at myself in the mirror.
No one in my family had this kind of hair. My father believes I inherited it from my great-grandfather. He was born on a normal day so still qualified as good.
He however married a medium the story of my great grandma differs from each historian some say she was a witch.
Witches, fairies anything that possesses powers or is abnormal qualifies as a demon.
Well whoever were my great grandparents the two disappeared from the world when my grandmother was only a year old.
No one knows what happened to them. There are very few portraits of the two in our museum.
I sometimes wonder if my great-grandfather actually married a witch?
Was it true love that pulled him to her? Or did she bewitch him?
I shouldn't think about all this not now. All I can do now is try to sleep and forget about the boy I had seen and offered kindness too.

At The Demon Castle
The boy stared at the golden comb for the longest time still in shock that girl treated him the way she had.
He wasn't planning on using it however it'd be a memento to him. Humans can be good.
"My king? You've been staring at that strange object for the longest time." A fairy flies above his head narrowly escaping the cat that had settled on the king's head.
"It's a comb Rinku." He told her. "It's made of gold! Where did you find it?"
"Yes where did you find it?" A tall woman with boney features entered. She looked nothing human from her black eyes that haunted your soul.
Her features looked that similar to a skeleton. Anubis didn't reply.
He didn't like the woman who had taken him as her own and raised him with all the other demons but this woman wanted to be treated as queen mother because she felt entitled to that role.
Anubis however didn't like how she operated things. He didn't even like how the woman had tried to mould him into pure evil.
"Will you not answer me?"
"Aren't you supposed to be dealing with the new spawn of demons?"
"I came to check up on you."
"You don't have to."
"Such animosity. I raised you well."
The cat on Anubis' head jumped from his head and transformed into a boy.
He looked like a boy but was a thousand years older. "What my king is trying to say is you should probably go back to your duties. No one needs you here."
"And you're needed? You're making the boy have childish thoughts when's the last time we killed a flock of humans?!"
"Why kill humans for no reason? No one has tried to attack me. I'm leaving here and not going after anyone so no one will come after me. Now go back to your duties Loralie."
"Are you ordering me?"
"Yes." Anubis never felt at peace with the skull woman. She nodded and took her leave.
"So where did you get that?" Eos took the comb from the boy. "What's this? Initials? A.A.A?"
"Did you steal it from a human?" Rinku asked. "Anubis doesn't have the backbone to kill a cockroach!" Eos laughed still holding the comb which was soon snatched away from him.
"I've killed plenty of cockroaches! And mice!"
"Yeah you're big man. Just tell us."
"It was given to me. By a human girl.″
The demons next to him almost collapsed with laughter and disbelief. "It's true!"
I bought some INK coins, but I don't want to use them myself, I want to transfer them at a low price Does anyone need it, see my homepage to contact me
