Tamaki's voice was soft, laced with a vulnerability that tugged at Hiro’s heartstrings. The sincerity in his words washed over Hiro like a gentle tide, soothing the ache of loneliness that had long since taken root within him.
Hiro’s eyelashes fluttered lightly, his gaze meeting Tamaki’s with a mixture of awe and wonder. It was like time stood still, the world around them fading into insignificance as they stood locked in each other’s embrace. Tamaki didn’t move, as if he could sense it too.
“Are you always so cavalier?” Hiro’s voice wavered slightly, betraying the emotions that churned within him. He couldn’t help but feel a pang of disbelief at Tamaki’s unwavering willingness in such a short time
Tamaki shook his head, his eyes softening with an intensity that stole Hiro’s breath away. “Never, but you are the exception,” he whispered, his voice barely more than a breath against Hiro’s skin. Hiro felt as if he were drowning in a sea of emotion, the weight of Tamaki’s words pressing down on him like an anchor tethering him to the earth.
Hiro pulled his hands away, a little disappointed washed over him when Tamaki let him, without any resistance.
He shook out his hands, and cleared his throat and turned back to the pan, pulling the food out of it and placing the Ham and eggs on the plate with the rice.
He handed it to Tamaki without a word, their fingers brushing gently. He ignored it too, startled by Tamaki’s constant physical contact. He thought it would be a contract, that he would only be willing to help under the terms of the contract but here he was being insistent starting every day with contact of some sort.
“Are you a very touchy-feely person?” Hiro asked, confused as to why it could be this easy for Tamaki to always be touching him.
“No not at all.” Tamaki held up his hands and resisted, shaking his head vigorously. “Not at all.”
“Then why?” Hiro asked as he filled out his plate. He pushed the food around the pan just so it would take longer and he wouldn’t have to sit down so soon. Sit down and stare at Tamaki, who never seemed to be looking away.
“Because you need help. My mom’s motto as I was growing up was never to turn help away from those who need it. I did once, and that was a mistake.” Tamaki’s voice was rough with emotion, slightly choked up.
Hiro turned to look at him.
“I don’t plan on turning away people who need it ever again. Because the moment you turn a blind eye is a moment in time, you will always have to live every day knowing what you did. For me, that burden is too heavy to carry. I don’t think I can. But for everyone it’s different. If you want me to be callous and hard, I don’t think I can in the first place, but when you look at me with such suffering, it is especially impossible.”
“Oh,” was all Hiro could say in response and he stood in front of the oven eating there instead, feeling much too emotional to go and sit next to Tamaki.
“Also, your secret is safe with me, I don’t need to sign a contract or an agreement to make sure I won’t tell anyone about your condition, I still can if you want but. To me it sounds like things have already been hard enough without your name being dragged through the media.”
“Thanks,” Hiro said. He grabbed his coffee and sipped at the black liquid, feeling oddly overwhelmed by Tamaki’s kindness. He had expected resistance, or even hate and disgust, but he hadn’t expected to be treated with kindness and understanding. ‘How did one move forward with something when meeting no resistance?’
“Are you heading to busk again?” Hiro asked.
Tamaki nodded,
“I have to go to the restaurant today do you want to go together?”
There was no response
Hiro looked over Tamaki was staring at him, as if awestruck. Hiro’s eyebrows pulled together with a mixture of emotions.
“Together?”
He asked. “Together with you in the same vehicle?”
“Jeez, you don’t have to make it weird.”
Tamaki sucked on his bottom lip, biting on it slowly without thinking and Hiro watched it both amused and intrigued, it seemed to be his habit whenever he was deep in thought about something.
“It is weird though, isn’t it? Me with you?” He asked as if confused by the very prospect of it.
“Why?” Hiro asked.
“When I first saw you, you felt like an alien, someone above this world, like an unobtainable beauty that I would always be in the shadows. I didn’t know people could exist so brightly. Like the sun reflecting off ice in the bright of a winter day. You were so brilliant I had to squeeze my eyes closed so my heart could adjust.”
“And then I found out not only were you beautiful but you were are a successful businessman with a restaurant, and a home, and your life together. You are not lacking in anything but something out of your control. And I am… I am me.” He responded.
“Just me, I have nothing to offer to anyone.”
Hiro’s brow furrowed. He slammed his cup down on the counter loudly causing Tamaki to freeze startled, his shoulders shooting up in surprise.
“Bullshit!” Hiro snapped.
