Obsidian Rebirth: Lucas and Elise's Odyssey Chapter 1 :- “Bound by Destiny: Awakening in a New World

Accidental Union

Accidental Union

Mar 30, 2024

At night, cloaked in darkness, I pursued a man—a perpetrator of heinous crimes. Murder, kidnapping, rape, theft—his hands stained with the blood of my family, leaving me an orphan. That’s why tonight, I’m pursuing him to avenge my family and all those he tormented, making their lives a living hell. I’m going to make him pay for his sins he committed , “stop chasing me, if you want money I’ll give you!, Huhhh I-if you want something tell me I’ll give you !”The fleeing man yelled in desperation , He collided with a rock and fell to the ground. I was going towards him, he was trembling in fear, Watching him tremble in fear, I felt a twisted sense of delight, relishing the scene before me ! “sto- stop, don’t come near me, Assassin! I will give you double the money the person who gives you to kill me , stop there, …..ok! Ok! I’ll give you what you want just don’t kill me!” “ hum so you can give me what I want __then give me my family! Return my family that you killed heartlessly! Can you give me back my family, can you return peoples life whom you killed ,no you can’t return peoples life, you can’t give me my family! So how can you expect from me to spare your life!” With a yell, I struck him down in a single swift motion , “ finally I killed him , I taken revenge for my family , huh why am I crying, I should be happy , I have taken revenge today!” He began to cry loudly, tears streaming down his face until his mask was soaked, resembling waterlogged fabric. Drained by the night’s events, I trudged back home, my mind and body heavy with exhaustion. Collapsing onto my bed, sleep claimed me instantly, offering temporary respite from the darkness that consumed my soul .

When I slipped into the embrace of sleep, a desperate voice pierced the darkness of my mind—a plea to a higher power, tinged with longing and sorrow. “Please… God, help me find happiness…” The raw emotion in her words shook me to my core, leaving an ache in my chest that lingered even as the gentle touch of morning light roused me from my slumber. Blinking away the remnants of dreams, I found myself beneath a vast expanse of azure, the sky painted with hues of dawn. “The sky… it’s beautiful,” I murmured, but confusion clouded my thoughts as I struggled to reconcile this tranquil scene with my reality. “How is this possible?” I questioned, my heart racing with fear and uncertainty. “Moments ago, I was safe in my own bed.” Panic clawed at my throat as I surveyed my surroundings, searching for any semblance of familiarity in this alien world. “No… it can’t be real,” I whispered, clinging desperately to the hope of awakening from this nightmare. Yet, as the minutes stretched on and the truth refused to waver, a sense of helplessness settled over me like a suffocating blanket. “How could they have taken me?” I wondered aloud, casting a wary glance at the looming silhouette of a telephone tower. “This… this can’t be happening.” With a heavy heart, I surrendered once more to the embrace of sleep, yearning for the sweet release of waking from this haunting dream. But as consciousness ebbed away, the chilling reality remained—an inescapable truth that gripped me in its icy grasp. And this is how I ended up in this world.
Finding myself in another world was a shock for me, but I couldn’t just sit and wait for my death. I stood near a canal, the grass beneath my feet, when suddenly, I heard footsteps approaching. Instinctively, I drew my dagger, preparing to defend myself.

As the group of people came into view, they caught sight of me and exclaimed, “Ninja!” Their words, though unfamiliar, carried a hint of recognition. Despite the language barrier, I sensed their surprise and curiosity at encountering someone like me, they were surprised to look at my assassin suit.
After seeing and hearing them for a minute, they did not move to attack me. Taking advantage of the moment, I tapped into my power, blending with the air. In the blink of an eye, I vanished from their sight, reappearing atop a nearby tree ( he used his ghost step technique in which he moves at too fast speed, for an ordinary human it looks like disappeared thin air ). From my vantage point, I observed their reactions.
The people below were stunned, their voices rising in disbelief. They exchanged hurried whispers, their words incomprehensible to me. Among their chatter, I caught a familiar term: ‘ninja.’ In my world, ninjas were skilled warriors akin to assassins, but they eschewed dark magic and killing for profit. Instead, they mastered their craft through clandestine training and manipulation of magic.
“Out of nowhere, my head suddenly—AAAAGGGGHHHH!—agonized me”. A flood of information about the languages, economy of Terrafirma surged through every synapse of my brain! “What was that? How could I suddenly learn every language and economy used on Terrafirma? Is someone helping me? If I find that person, maybe I can still return to my world.”
Now that I have the knowledge of languages spoken on Terrafirma, there’s no need for me to hide anymore. If I want to return to my world, I have to find that person. But first, I need to gather more information about this world. I must blend in with the people here, so I can move around freely. “ hum! I have to rely on my magic abilities. With them, I can easily change my appearance or alter it to fit in with the locals.”
With a sense of determination, I uttered the word “change.” Instantly, my assassin suit began to melt and reshape itself into ordinary clothes. As I looked at my reflection, I couldn’t help but feel a twinge of excitement and apprehension. These clothes resembled those worn by the people I had encountered earlier, making me feel a bit more confident about blending in.
As he wandered through the town, he couldn’t help but notice that this world was far more technologically advanced than his own. Lost in thought, he continued walking until, without realizing it, an artefact slipped from his pocket and fell to the ground—a wedding ring. Oblivious to the significance of the item, he walked on, unaware of the potential consequences of his unintentional action.
As a sad girl trudged home from school, her downtrodden demeanour hinted at the possibility of bullying from her classmates. Suddenly, she felt something beneath her shoe and paused to investigate. To her surprise, she discovered a ring nestled among the small pebbles on the ground.
“What’s this? A wedding ring?” she wondered aloud, admiring its intricate design. “It looks like someone lost it. I’ll hand it over to the police on my way home. But before that, let me just try it on.”
Slipping the ring onto her finger, she marvelled at its beauty. “Hmm, it’s a bit too big for me,” she observed. However, in a bewildering turn of events, the ring resized itself to fit her perfectly.

“What just happened? Did the ring adjust to my size? That’s impossible!” she exclaimed, attempting to remove it from her finger, but to no avail—the
ring refused to budge.

On the other side, the assassin wandered aimlessly, lost in thought. Suddenly, an electronic signal passed through his mind, causing him to snap out of his reverie. He realized something was amiss—the ring on his finger was glowing. “No, this can’t be happening. My ring shouldn’t glow like this unless the other ring is being worn by a girl,” he muttered to himself. “Did I lose my other ring? No, I have to find it. That ring isn’t just any ordinary ring. It’s been passed down through generations in my family. It’s meant to be worn only by your future wife, signifying a lifelong commitment. If someone else wears that ring, it means they’re now a couple, bound together for life.”

He disappeared into thin air and found himself atop a streetlight pole, gazing in the direction of the mysterious signals flooding his mind. With determination in his voice, he whispered, “Change.” In the blink of an eye, his clothes reshaped into his assassin suit, and he vanished from sight. A rush of air brushed past the girl wearing the ring as he swiftly merged with her shadow.
“How dare you wear that ring?” his voice echoed, startling the girl.
“Who are you? Why are you hiding? Are you the owner of this ring? If so, come out and take it. I don’t know why, but I can’t seem to remove it,” the girl replied, her voice trembling with confusion and fear.
“No, you won’t be able to remove that ring until you die,” he explained cryptically.
“What do you mean by that?” the girl questioned, her heart pounding with unease.
“Let me tell you something. That’s not an ordinary ring. It’s called a couple ring. When two people wear it, they become a couple, considered married. It’s meant to be worn only by your future wife or husband. And now that you’ve worn the ring, it means I’m your husband, and you are my wife.”
“What? What do you mean by that? I’m still a student! How can I get married at the age of sixteen? And why are you still hiding? Come out now!” the girl exclaimed, her voice filled with disbelief and panic.
“Are you sure you want me to come out?” the assassin replied cryptically.
“Stop wasting time and come out!” the girl demanded.
“As you wish, but don’t be surprised,” the assassin warned.
Suddenly, a slimy, human-shaped figure emerged from the girl’s shadow, followed by the assassin stepping out. The girl was overcome with shock, trembling in fear as she screamed, “AAAHHHHHH!” before falling unconscious.
“Ah, as expected from someone who doesn’t know about magic,” the assassin remarked calmly, unfazed by the girl’s reaction.
The girl’s scream echoed loudly, drawing the attention of nearby people. The assassin quickly realized the potential danger and swiftly picked her up, disappearing from the scene. As they reappeared in the vicinity of the mountains near the town, the assassin set her down by a nearby river and gently splashed water on her face to help her regain consciousness.
As the girl stirred awake, her eyes widened with fear and confusion. “Wha—what are you? How can you come out from the shadows?” she stammered, her voice trembling.
“Don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt you,” the assassin reassured her, his tone calm.
“Mon—monster, mons—ghhgh,” the girl struggled to speak, her fear palpable.

The assassin quickly covered her mouth and shook his head. “Hey, don’t overreact on this. I was just kidding. I’m not a monster,” he said, trying to ease her fears.
“Let’s calm down and talk,” the assassin said. The girl struggled to speak, letting out a muffled noise. “Ah, I’m sorry for covering your mouth, but if you scream again, I’ll have to keep my hand there. If you’re not going to scream, then shake your head twice, and I’ll remove my hand.” The girl nodded twice, and he released her, saying, “Let’s start with a proper introduction. Hi, my name is Lucas Gled, I am eighteen years old and I’m a dark assassin from another world.”
The girl was shocked. "You're from another world?" she exclaimed.
Lucas raised an eyebrow. “Don’t you think you should introduce yourself first?”
“I—I’m sorry, my name is Elise Lopez, and I’m a student. I’m sixteen years old now,” Elise stammered.
“Now, ask what you wanted to ask,” Lucas prompted.
“Are you really from another world and are you an assassin?” Elise asked hesitantly.
“Yes,” Lucas replied simply.
“Then, is it true that we are now married?” Elise questioned, her voice trembling with disbelief.
“Yes,” Lucas confirmed.
“Is there not any way to remove this ring and break our marriage?” Elise pleaded.
“There is a way to break the marriage, but I don’t think you will choose that way,” Lucas replied solemnly.
“What? There’s a way to break our marriage? Then, what are you waiting for? Tell me the way to break our marriage,” Elise demanded urgently.
“ If we want to break our marriage, then one of us has to die. That ring will only stay on your finger if I’m alive. If I die, the ring will automatically be removed from your finger,” Lucas explained.
“So, if we have to break our marriage, then one of us has to die. That means I have to kill you,” Elise muttered, her voice barely above a whisper.
Lucas heard her and replied, “So, you’re going to kill me? Don’t you think you’re underestimating me? I’m an assassin. If I wanted to kill you, I would have done it already.”
“No, I was just talking to myself. You’re an assassin, so why didn’t you kill me? I know that you’re not going to marry someone like me,” Elise said softly.
“Because I don’t want to kill you. It’s not a bad deal to have a wife, and I’m not someone who runs away from my responsibilities. You’re my wife, and it doesn’t matter to me if you’re to my liking or not. You’re my family now, and I just can’t kill my only family,” Lucas explained earnestly.
“Are you sure that you will not regret accepting me as a wife? You know, I’m not beautiful or sexy like other girls,” Elise said softly, her voice filled with hesitation and a hint of insecurity.
“Judging by your appearance, behaviour, and voice, I can tell that you’re a kind-hearted person who will love your husband for your entire life and never betray him. But there is a problem; you underestimate yourself and don’t know yourself very well. But don’t worry, your husband will help you overcome these insecurities,” Lucas reassured her with a gentle sincerity, his eyes reflecting understanding and empathy.
“Don’t talk nonsense. How can you tell so much about a person you just met?” Elise replied, her voice still hesitant, but tinged with curiosity and a glimmer of hope.
“Because I am an assassin, and it’s essential for an assassin to know what kind of person they are dealing with and what limits they can push. My judgment has never been wrong before,” Lucas explained confidently, his tone carrying a sense of assurance and conviction.

“It’s evening now. Let’s go home. Where is your home?” Lucas asked her.
“Wh-what? Why are you asking me about my home’s location? Are you going to stay at my home?” Elise asked him, her voice tinged with confusion.
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m your husband now. How can you expect me to stay away from my wife on our wedding night? Tonight is very important for us, don’t you think?” Lucas replied, his tone gentle yet insistent.
“Sorry, but you can’t do that. I’m still underage; I haven’t turned 18 yet,” Elise said to him, her voice tinged with concern. “Plus, I haven’t seen your face, so how can I let you stay at my home?” She couldn’t help but feel a bit uneasy about the situation.
“As for your being underage, in my world, there is no rule for marriage, and being 16 or 17 years old can be considered as adults,” he replied, his tone confident but understanding. “And regarding you not seeing my face yet, I was going to show you my face tonight. I will show you my face when we reach home.” His words offered reassurance, but Elise couldn’t shake off the nervousness that crept over her.
