Aunt Margaret or just Maggie for short, was always full of life and had high entertainment value even as she got older. She amused the family with many stories about her living in and working on Capitol Hill for 40+ years, growing up in Amherst County and living at the retirement home. She loved many things including beach holidays, lobster bisque, dogs. The Redskins,( a team my Dad utterly despises still to this day, but that is another story) Bloody Mary, yard sales, and the Republican Party (most of the time, which is another story too).

Margaret also really loved a Frab from McDonald’s. But what made it so special was my Mom would pour brandy into it. Her retirement home wouldn't let her have brandy in her room. I think towards the end of her life the staff was afraid she might drink it for breakfast ( which she might have).

So, once a month as a treat, my Mom would bring Margaret a McDonald's Frab, and using one of these little airplane bottles of brandy you get at any ABC store pour in for Margaret once in her room.

Margaret loved this, however, she always had to see my Mom pour it in herself. Otherwise she wouldn't believe my Mom.

This might be from the fact her retirement home gave out very low alcohol drinks at dinner, which didn't give you a buzz at all.

If Aunt Margaret complained that she couldn't taste any alcohol, the staff would swear up and down it was in there.

So seeing my Mom pour it in the frab made Margaret happy.

One time Mom had to leave early and warned Margaret she had to finish the Frab as Mom couldn’t leave it in Margaret trash.

As Mom didn’t want Margaret to get in trouble.

But Margaret wasn’t ever ready to give up any of that frab so she shucked every drop down as fast as she could.
