Jax held Azlin more tightly and assessed the area now. The fire was spreading faster and Jax stepped back, took a breath and ran to the door jumping over the fiery wood. He coughed with the smoke entering his nostrils but made it out of there.
Speedily, Jax ran to the place he put his motorcycle, took the tarp off, placed Azlin on the seat and sat at the back of her. His right arm went to her waist to secure her and with the other hand he took the wheel and went. Softly, he placed his chin on her shoulder and shuffled closer, not thinking about anything except the man Cyrus and who he was.
It was all so sudden, him coming to this agency after he graduated in training, meeting his work partner, taking a mission from his commander and it not going as planned. It just went too fast. The agency must find out who this random man was because he was an obvious threat to their goal. Even if this was already a dangerous mission, the two were trained agents. Though meeting a way too strong opponent was the worst case. Thinking everybody there was small fry was underestimating the mission. Finding the blueprints was already hard enough for most of the unit. The blueprints can determine too much for our country.
In the blink of an eye, the two reached the agency building and Jax parked the motorcycle in the parking lot. It looked nothing more of a normal office but the inside was much more. He got off the motorcycle and gently took Azlin in his arms. He strode in the building and dropped off Azlin to the infirmary . He averted his walk to the commanders office to tell him the news. Once he arrived, he did two aggressive knocks to the door. The door opened and you could see the commanders assistant was at the side and the commander was at his desk. Jax stepped inside and put his arms behind his back, the assistant then closed the door swiftly.
“Commander, Sir!”
“Do you have business with me agent Jax?”
“Yes commander!” He replied.
“Sit down then.”
Jax walked to the chair and sat down.
“Commander we have a problem…”
“Go on agent Jax.”
He gulped the lump stuck in his throat and continued.
“Two things commander. One, we could not find the blueprints. The warehouse had some burnt papers and was trashed with dead bodies and piles of wood.”
The commander frowned at the news but thought no less as nothing changed.
“Tch..”
“Two, there was an unexpected enemy. It was not a lowly man but likely someone trained for years. While speaking he said his name was Cyrus. It could be a cover name sir but it looked like he was telling the truth.”
“..Cyrus..? If he was trained that means he was someone higher up to stop us finding the blueprints. Looks?”
“He had beige hair, a scar across his face, a sinister grin and formal clothing.”
“That..must mean we’re getting close..how about agent Azlin? Why isn’t she here too.”
“She caught the attention of the man and was targeted..”
“I will mention this in the next meeting then. He seems to be a threat that we should avoid, if you ever see him agent Jax then take a photo of him . We need as much evidence as we can get. I’ll ask our informants to research him. You may take your leave.”
“Yes commander, sir!”
Jax bowed and exited the room breaking into a cold sweat. If the man was that powerful and could play with two agents like that….then what could he really do? He shook his head to not think the worst thoughts, he wandered away to his colleague since there was nothing better to do than rest.
