I walked through the hallway of the apartment complex, my bare feet squished the fluffy rug underneath. I held my shoes by their back rims. The hallway stretched long and far, seeming to never end. I stopped and turned to a door titled 201, My door. I pulled the key outta the back pocket of my jean’s with my free hand and slid the key into the hole. Wiggled it around for a while before hearing a click and turning the knob. I pulled the key out as I closed the door behind me, my feet walking from the soft warm carpet to the cold hard wooden floors of my apartment.
Hearing a click from the door once again knowing it closed I set down my shoe’s next to the door. I continued into my living room, then around the corner into my kitchen. Grabbing my phone from the counter and unplugging it from its outlet. I walked back over to the living room then sat on my couch. It had a familiar feel to it, the feeling of my legs sticking to the leather was a feeling I knew well. I opened my phone, unlocked it with my finger print and instantly opened my texts.
“I’ll be there in 15!” was the last text sent by my friend 10 minutes ago. I smile and sigh. Pressing the power button on the side and resting the phone in my lap. I reach to my side for the remote to the TV and press the power button. The TV powering on as it flashes with brand names and slowly fades into the home screen. I press my left button for a while before reaching MewTube and clicking okay, I wait for it to load then click on my liked videos. The first one to pop us was a playlist based on one of my favorite characters titled with a POV. I click on it and set the remote down on the coffee table deciding this playlist would be the background music for the day.
The video started to load and I found myself laying back on my couch. I sink into it as I feel a furry thing rub against my leg. I don’t have to wait long to find out what it is because the fluffy thing jumps onto my lap and rests itself there, I look down to see my cat Holly laying in my lap, the ginger cat looked up at me with her calming green eyes and started to purr. I put my hand over her back and slump down deciding this would be the place I would rest until Daiki gets here.
The video finally load’s as my ear’s are met with the pleasing sounds from the song, ‘Seeing your name makes me happy’ by Burbank. I yawn, my senses heightened from the relaxing moment I have. The ruff leather rubs at my skin. The fluffy white pillow resting behind me makes my back arch slightly. My mind wanders and thoughts scatter as I’m suddenly brought to the thought of the death of my brother. I wish he didn’t attack me. I wish I didn’t have to kill him. Time passed, my ear’s and thought focused on the music before being interrupted by a loud ring. The door bell’s ring to be exact. Holly jumps off my lap and prances over to my room far away as I stand up and walk towards the door. I hear the familiar clicking sound from the door as I swing it open, I see Daiki standing at my door with a smile on his face.
“Hey!” I Proclaim, stepping to the side so he could come in. “Sup Anne!” He responded as he walked in and closed the door. “How have you been?” He asks. I guided him to the living room and we both sat down.
“Things have been nice and steady.” I say.
“Good! I don’t need to be worrying about you, do I?” He laughs.
“No, no.” I chuckle and shake my head.
“How have you been?” I ask, though I already know from our texting convo before.
“Ah fine. My boss has been cracking down on me lately.” He comment’s.
“Gotta get more sale’s.” I say with a shrug, he punches my shoulder in a playful manner. “Yeah, Yeah” He says. I grab the remote and turn down the volume so we can chat more, setting the remote down. I stand up. “What should I make for dinner?” I ask. He sits back, His brown hair resting over his eyes for a moment. “You make a good shrimp Alfredo.” He says. I laugh and walk over to the kitchen area. He stands up to follow me but pauses mid walk because of a notification from his phone. He grabs his phone from his pocket and starts to scroll through it. I was mildly curious with what the notification was for starting to pull out the ingredients for our dinner. I place the bag of frozen shrimp in front of me, the cold radiating off the bag. I look over at him through the window placed to see into the living room. His face turns from a happy one to one of annoyance. “Dammit.” I hear him grunt out from under his breath. He grits his teeth and places his phone back in his pocket. He looks down at the floor. I looked at him confused.
“What’s wrong?” I ask, pulling my attention away from the cold bag full of dead shrimp. I look over at me. “Where has your boyfriend been today?” He asks, this makes me more confused. “He said he’d be working late hours today. So he’s not coming back until 11:00. Why?” I say, another yawn following. “He’s coming now.” He spat. I recoil. “What?” I ask. “I just got a text from him.” Daiki comment’s, walking over to the small window that I stood on the other side of. He handed me his phone, it was cold and hard like it had never been used before. His phone had no lock so as soon as I pressed the home button I was brought to A text from my boyfriend Kurai. The text reads as follows. “If you’re at Anne’s house. Get out now. This is a threat. Leave.” My mind instantly comes to the conclusion that Kurai is coming to the house to hurt me. He probably got fired from his job again and is coming to release his anger on me. “I told you! You need to break up with that man now! I can’t help you anymore when he’s deliberately hurting you now. We need to call the cops on Kurai!” Daiki explains, putting his hands on the window between the kitchen and the living room. “I know… but-” I started but Daiki interrupted, “You're breaking up with him today!”
