Lila cut up two large green and red apples and one small orange, stuffing the slices in a bowl, and took them with her as she walked upstairs to their room. As she got there, before knocking on their door — she heard her sisters from the other side of the door, whispering and giggling to themselves rather loudly, and even heard them happily whispering her name, as they anxiously chatted to one another. Lila cracked a smile and kinda figured that her sisters were up to something as how they were acting the entire day as well as how they ran off just then. Lila knocked on the door, where she then heard the two shushing each other, and hurrying moving around the room — Lila of course gave them some time to quickly hide whatever they were planning on doing and showing, until she finally opened the door to their room with a plate of sliced fruit for her and her sisters to eat.
The twins stuck by each other, standing totally still with both their hands behind their backs. Both stood by her bed; both looked quite nervous, as their faces began to drip from the sweat as they looked at Lila and circled around the room with their eyes — a sense of look and feeling of trying not to be caught, and found out — a feeling that Lila knew so well.
Lila set the plate of sliced fruit on top of her bed, before kneeling down and sitting by her bedside, in front of her twin sister. She asks them as she gestures to the plate of fruit, “I brought a plate of sliced apples and oranges for us to snack on, in case you two were hungry???” Sandy and Daisy eyed the plate of sliced fruit, both wanting to grab a slice of either fruit, but stopped themselves from doing so, as they still were holding something behind their backs. Lila tilted her, and tried to see what they were hiding, but both twins were trying so hard to hide whatever they were hiding behind them. Lila smirked, arched an eyebrow and eyes at the two girls, as she scooted a little closer to them, “Sandy, Daisy — are you two hiding something from me, that you both don’t want to show me???” She jestly said to them, now making both Sandy and Daisy a little bit more nervous, thinking that maybe, if she knew what they were up to and what they had behind their backs. Lila snickered by their reactions, and quickly tells them, “*Chuckle!!!* Calm down you two — I’m not going to bite or anything. Just curious what you two were hiding behind your backs.”
“Uh… oh… *Nervous chuckle* Yeah, we knew that…” Both uttered in unison. Lila held in her laughs, but her sisters knew from her face that she found their little act to be somewhat funny. “So… what was it that you two were so nervous and excited to show me???” Lila asked while resting her chin on her palm which also rested on her bedside. Sandy and Daisy looked at each other, giving each other one last look of encouragement as well as a sudden nod to each other, until they finally whipped out what they were hiding behind them, extended their arms out and showed what they were hiding in front of Lila.
Daisy held out the torn up comic book of The Amazing Adventures of Sabrina Spellcaster, but now was taped back up. Sandy held in her hands was Juju, but then removed the arm cast off the doll, revealing that the doll’s arm was stitched back up. Surprising both Lila and Daisy as they both saw the doll’s arm all fixed.
There were no words for Lila to say, from what she was seeing before her. Lila was both overwhelmed and confused on how both her comic book was taped back up and their before her, after thinking that Olga probably might have thrown it out long ago. And how Juju’s arm was stitched back up, after realizing there was no more thread that she could use to fix the doll’s torn arm.
Lila took a hold of the comic book and ragdoll in her hands, feeling them in her hands, and couldn’t help how happy she was as well as fighting back the tears as asked herself as well as her two sisters, “How??? I thought-”
“W-we were going to give this to you s-sooner, and the previous days. But we were afraid that Olga m-might find and snatch it from us and tear it up again.” Daisy stutters, as she shies away by looking at the floor. Daisy bit the inside of her lip, and looked a bit afraid rather than nervous as well as she continued to stutter, “Sandy and I gathered all the pieces, and took the time to tape it back up again… B-but… I-... we didn’t know if you were going to l-l-like it like this… Even w-when it looks t-this torn up…” Finishes Daisy sheepishly, Sandy then utters to Lila, though sounding like a whisper, “And… I felt bad for tearing up Juju’s arm before, and wanted to make up for… what I did… And once I saw that her arm was still not patched up… and saw that you were trying to find some more thread before… I used some of the thread from one of my shirts… and used it to… to stitch Juju’s arm back… I just left the arm cast on, so that I can surprise you with the work I did….” Sandy’s face was beat red, after admitting what she did for her twin’s doll. Daisy looked at her twin in awe, and was very happy for what her twin did for her as she had no idea.
Then suddenly pulse both her sisters towards her, and embrace the two in a tight embrace. Catching the two completely off guard, and both heard their older sister speak as her voice quivered, while still holding them tightly in their hug, “*Snick!!!* I’m so proud of you Sandy… thank you for fixing Juju for Daisy — And Daisy…I love it that you fixed my comic book… *Sniff!!!* Thank you, both so much!!!” Lila exclaimed tearfully. “You have no idea how this means so much to me — thank you — The both of you…” She later added, while wiping away her tears with her torn t-shirt, as she couldn’t help but feel happy and emotional.
“You're not mad?” Both uttered Sandy and Daisy in unison, Lila pulled away from her embrace to look at the two — wiping away her tears, and telling as she looked a bit baffled of what they said, about her being mad over something so uplifting, “No!!! Why would I be??? When you both have restored and given me something so precious to me… Something that our father gave me when I was about your girl’s age and it is something that helped me remember him by — his kind words, his kind and playful act and his imaginative mind.” Lila looked down at her beloved comic book that she was still holding in her hand, while sitting Juju on her bed. “Even though it has been so long since he was here with us… When you two were just babies and I was but a child. I still remember his promise — our promise… and to always protect you… and that he would return someday… When that day comes, we’ll be a happy family again” Lila hummed softly, with a smile on her face as well as admiration and hope in her eyes. She clenched the comic book to her chest. Never wanting to let go. But also couldn’t stop thinking about the dream she just had, was it a mere coincidence that her father in her dream and her memory of her father were somehow connected? Or just simply a random dream? Not wanting to read into it, or else she will never stop bugging her.
She then hugged both Sandy and Daisy tightly again, making the two muffle a few words in unison. “Wbe w’hanted tho mahke h’you hafppy… noth mahke h’you sahd Liluch.” Lila releases the twins from the hug and places her hands on both their cheeks and says to both of them, while wiping away her tears. “Oh, no… It’s alright, silly girls. I am extremely happy. These are happy tears.” After Lila explained, both Sandy and Daisy hugged her and kissed her cheeks; Lila snickered and returned their warm embrace. Now the three of them began tearing up, happily.
The three pulled away from their hug, wiping away their tears off their faces. Lila laughs off what a complete mess they had become, as she and the girls started a tear fest party. Sandy and Daisy laughed at the silly remark, later calming down.
As things finally settled down — chores have been done, a few tears have been shed, the girls surprising her with a touching gift. Lila thought this was probably finally the time to talk to her sisters. Telling her sisters everything, once and for all — she was feeling somewhat afraid of not accepting her as a witch, and wasn’t sure how they would initially react. But if her sisters could summon up the courage to do as they did — then she can too.
And so without further ado, Lila quickly stood up, and walked towards the window, opening it wide open — and walked back to sit on her bed while reaching inside her pillow, taking out her hidden letter. She pats on her mattress, gesturing for her sisters to sit on her bed. Sandy and Daisy helped each other to stand, and sat on her bed — as they saw from their older sister’s facial expression, that she had something that she wanted to tell them. Once the twins sat on the springy mattress — Daisy sat close to Sandy as she hugged her doll Juju, while Sandy held onto the plate of sliced fruit; the two helped themselves to the plate of fruit, as they sat to listen to what their sister had to say.
Lila couldn’t help herself from being nervous, even telling herself that she should just get everything over with. With her acceptance letter in hand, the enchanting whistle that she immediately took out hiding under shirt. Gripping onto the whistle, and fiddling with the chain — both twins looked at the pretty engraved chained whistle and wondered where she got it. Lila saw their curious faces, and knew at this point she was just stalling — so she took a deep breath and finally spoke, hoping things would go as how she planned.
“*Sigh!!!* Alright… Cassandra, Daisy…” She sighed, nervously. While finally looking at the two with a nervous yet serious look on her face. Sandy felt a bit somewhat bothered, yet nervous and felt weary as Lila called her by her real name. “There’s something… that I need to tell you… and… show you.” Lila utters, as she sets the switch on her whistle, and blows into it. The whistle sounded like a song bird chirping, echoing around the room and filling in the ears of hers and her sisters. Moments after the whistle was blown, waiting for something to happen. Lila hadn’t used the whistle before, and didn’t know how long it would take for either weasel, owl or easel to arrive once she blew on the whistle — and her sisters weren’t sure what they were waiting to happen once she suddenly blew the whistle that was around her neck.
Until Lila waited for one of the critters to arrive, instead of stalling again — she looked at the two, with seriousness and nervousness in her expression. Finally telling them, everything — starting all from the beginning.
