The bubbly bath was gorgeously warm and the bubbles were a pink tint from the rose smelling bath bomb I'd put in. I'd smell beautiful later, but for now I was soaking in the scent. A special light was transitioning colors slowly in here, creating an atmosphere that was otherworldly. Baths were always my time to relax after a long day, and I liked to stay in here a long while.
Just beyond the shower curtain, Flowercoat was on the ledge of the shelf above the toilet as usual. Standing sentry as I took my bath. Her tail was whipping about, probably thinking to herself. Beyond that, behind the closed door to our bedroom, Yuki was finally asleep. I felt safe knowing this. The whole apartment was quiet, it was just me and my thoughts.
A shy paw clipped the edge of the ledge, and Flowercoat's face appeared at the curtain. Her whiskers slid on it, then fully came into view. I splashed the water a little to show her I was fine. In the past, she'd sometimes put a paw on my arm, wanting to know I why I was willingly in the bath. She hated water, so why didn't I?
Thinking about the events of tonight. Getting sweaty with Yuki at a club nearby our workplace, the pulsating trance music in our bones. The first time we went, I hadn't expected him to like it. He didn't seem to like that kind of music on a regular basis. Tonight had been 90's night, a special event that I'd wanted to go to. It was common for us to go there now, and he liked it because I did. The beats were infectious, and he said the music stirred up creativity in his brain that was strangely hyper. He'd liked it so much. It warmed my heart. And the kiss he'd given me on the dance floor... I'd been thinking about that kiss all night. His passion, his-
A heavy thump beyond the curtain. Snapped back to reality.
"Huh, Flowercoat?" Searching for her. I grabbed the curtain and pulled it back, and there she was. Her face appeared at the lip of the bath, narrowed eyes.
Her paw dashed on top of the tub. Darting there.
"Heyyy," I warned, chuckling at her. "Are you playing?"
A low rumble was my answer.
"Huh?" I asked, peering at her.
Her ears suddenly went airplane.
"Uh oh."
Her paw appeared again, then the other.
"Hey, what are you- AHHHHHH!"
The orange and black flowers on her white coat flew past as my hands went up in the air as if I were on a rollercoaster, accompanied by a huge splash. Pink water everywhere, in my eyes, in my hair, all over my face and the wall like weird cat art.
Her wiggly body was on mine and I was in too much shock to grab her. Her low, loud moan was all I heard.
"Flowerrrr!" I gasped, my hands went over my face as her back legs kicked, sending my pink bubbles flying there. The bath water went from side to side like in an earthquake as she scrambled, her wet body shaking to get off the water even though she was still in it. "AHHHH! FLOWER!"
A huge crash from the bedroom, then more weird noises. Sounding like bouncing. Quick thumping, thumping, thumping, and then the door banged open.
"TATA ARE OK- WHOAA FLOWERCOAT!"
"AHHH! HAHAHA!" Unable to stop laughing. Flowercoat jumped around the bath water, the pink bubbles all over her, her face surfacing like a submarine's periscope. Had to be a few seconds, but it felt like forever. Stuck in limbo with my cat in the water with me. "GET HER! GET HER! OH MY GOD!"
"DID SHE FALL IN?! WHAT'S GOING ON?!" He was laughing, too. Her splashing was enormous, must have been louder than the music at the club.
"MRRROWWWRRRR." She lowed miserably, sounding way too mature for this.
"SHE JUMPED IN!"
"SHE JUMPED IN?! OH, COME HERE, COME HERE. IT'S OKAY. HEYYY. HEYYY."
Miraculously, his hands found her and she finally surfaced, slightly pink and so bubbly. How would she ever get clean? In a split second I got my answer as she wiggled so hard in his grip, her paws going everywhere. Her eyes were so huge. She bounced out of his arms and landed with such a loud thump on the bathmat and shook like the dickens like I'd never seen her shake, so much water flying everywhere.
"AHHH!" Yuki cried out, protecting himself in this stance, but his pajamas getting soaked no doubt.
Like a pink tinted rocket, Flowercoat dashed out of the room through the still open door.
"Oh nooo," Yuki moaned just as miserably as she had. "I'll go catch her and rub her down with a towel. Flowercooooat!" He called to her, turning away as he grabbed the towel I was going to use on myself, while trying to follow her out of the room. My guess was that she was likely under the couch by now.
Alone suddenly, my mouth was still open. It had all been so fast. My hair and face were soaked just like Yuki was. Dripping so quietly down my front. Oh, but in no time I was laughing. Uncontrollably laughing. Sorry that Flowercoat had gotten wet, sorry that Yuki had woken up, but oh my god it was so funny even though I was probably going to hell for laughing. Holding my face, my smile uncontrollable, laughing so, so hard.
