Siren returned home with Alex, who had offered her to stay at his condo until her wounds recovered but she straightaway refused him saying that his snores echoed throughout the condo.
As soon as she got home, she headed straight for the shower to wash away the dirt from her body while taking care to keep her wounds dry.
Siren caught her naked reflection in the mirror, observing the water droplets cascading down from her wet hair to her taut abs. Her face and body appeared slightly pale from the day's exhaustion.
Taking the towel, she began to dry her hair, but her gaze involuntarily shifted to the side of her waist. Her movements slowed down as she stopped rubbing her hair with the towel.
Siren's fingers lightly grazed the spot where Raven had caressed her. Despite the passage of time, she could still feel the lingering warmth of his palm on her skin. His hand is very big, rough and calloused but when he touched her, it's neither gentle nor hard as if he wants to implicit certain pain to remind her to treat the wound at the same time not wanting to hurt her.
Her breath quickened, and a sudden surge of heat coursed through her heart. Retrieving her hand, she turned away and splashed water on her face, attempting to cool the unexpected rush of emotions.
As she gazed at her reflection in the mirror, she was met with reddened, glossy eyes that seemed to reflect the turmoil within.
Siren's frustration boiled over, and she clenched her fists in an attempt to suppress the overwhelming emotions welling up inside her. She bit down on the inside of her cheeks until they bled, seeking to distract herself from the feeling but even that wasn't enough.
In a fit of anger and despair, she unleashed her pent-up emotions on the mirror before her, delivering a powerful punch that shattered the glass into sharp fragments. As the mirror shattered, pieces of glass pierced her knuckles, staining her once smooth, white skin with blood.
Amidst the chaos, a sense of calm finally washed over her, bringing with it a realization.
"You are not supposed to feel this," she repeated to herself, as if trying to convince her heart to listen.
Taking a deep breath, she composed herself, changed into fresh clothes, and exited the shower.
Raven sat comfortably in the expansive leather chair, the dim light of the cellar casting shadows across the room. The cellar was dark and narrow with the wooden racks at the side holding various exquisite wines and alcohols. These are his favourite collections from all over the world.
People bid for jewels, properties and paintings in auction, but he bid for wines and alcohols that are considered rare to acquire and stored in this very own cellar.
In his hand, he held a glass of wine, its deep red hue catching the faint light filtering through the darkness. He swirled the liquid within, watching as it danced and twirled before settling once more.
Raven's silence was broken by the sudden appearance of a fleeting figure, so swift it seemed to vanish into the very darkness of the cellar. Yet, he remained unfazed, his attention drawn instead to the file laid out before him.
He took the file and flipped through the pages, absorbing the information with a keen eye. As he delved deeper into the contents, a seriousness settled over his features, the lines of his face etched with concentration.
Once he had absorbed all that was written, Raven closed the file with a decisive snap, his thoughts turning inward. For a moment, he allowed himself to exhale, releasing the tension that had built within him.
Turning his gaze to the wine glass before him, he reached out, his fingers trailing lightly along its rim.
"You are just like this, Siren," he murmured to himself, his voice a low rumble in the dimness of the cellar.
"Trying to contain a wild storm within a fragile glass wall. But what happens when the wall breaks?"
His chuckle held a dark edge as he tightened his grip on the glass, a small crack formed, snaking its way across the surface before splintering into countless fragments. The glass shattered in his hand, the wine mingling with the blood from the cuts it had left behind.
Raven took the file in his bloodied hands and made his way to the bin, where he set it on fire without a second thought. He watched as the carbon in the paper got burned turning the white pages to dark dust.
Whatever secrets the file held were now reduced to ashes, lost to the flames.
He didn't spare a glance back as he exited the cellar, leaving behind only the faint scent of smoke and the memory of the fire that had burned within.
After he left the cellar, the black shadow cleaned the floor which was stained with Raven's blood and shattered glass. Only after making sure the cellar was cleaned to shine, he left the cellar with whoosh through the window.
