Ayami
She stood in front of me with a friendly smile
“Ayami, right?” she asked
“Yeah” I reciprocated the smile but a wave of sadness washed ashore my mind.
“I am Kayda, nice to meet you” she extended her hand to shake mine.
She wore an expensive watch from divas, I recognized it as my mom has the same one, gifted to her by her mother, my grandmother.
“May I?” she pointed to the chair opposite to me in the four-seater table.
“Oh ye-yeah. Sure” I stuttered, embarrassed at not inviting her first to sit.
“Hello there,” Emi popped in front of us with three drinks in her hand, extending one to Kayda
“OH NO, you didn’t have to do that” Kayda protested
“Pfft please those flies wouldn’t even let you order, it’s on me today. Plus, if you really do feel bad just buy drink for us next time” Emi winked
All three of us giggled.
Emi was good at striking up conversations and making friends but still she always made sure to not let me feel left out.
I should ask Kayda something, something that will help me get to why I am feeling so close to a stranger, like I have talked to her before, like I am somehow connected to her.
Why is this feeling bothering me so much?
My thoughts were interrupted by the soft voice of a man.
“Seems like you found yourself some friends”. I turned around to see a tall man dressed in a suit. His face held a soft expression. His eyes were the same shade as the clouds in a thunderstorm, I failed to see any emotion in them. His silky black hair complimented his grey eyes.
“Looks like you don’t need this good old friend’s help anymore” he pointed at himself mocking a cry.
“I don’t need your help in finding friends, Izar. Might I add that your choices in friends are really bad, as i expected.” Kayda complained as she pointed to the group of people who were earlier swarming around her.
“Forgive me, I shall not help you find friends again”
“More like helping me get connections than friends. Let me guess was that Kai's idea?” Kayda asked
He shrugged and continued “Kai told me to come get you”
“Why?” Kayda asked
“I don’t know ask him yourself”
She let out a sigh.
“It was nice talking to you both. I love the atmosphere you guys have; hope we can be great friends” Kayda said as she stood up
“Oh, and thanks for the drink” she said as she took the drink from the table. “Drinks on me next time.” Kayda winked
“Sure” both Emi and I said in unison
Kayda smiled and walked to the exit with Izar, who glanced back to take one more look at us, a slight smirk formed on his lips before walking through the exit with her.
“She seems nice despite her cold exterior” Emi said
I smiled “Yah, right”
