POV: Ayami

“Isn’t this too soon?” I asked as Reo stopped the car at the gateway to the private estate of Laurier family.

“Don’t be scared sweetie” mom assured me as her eyes followed two men walking towards our car

Mom rolled down the window of the back seat

“Auden Ezekiel Laurier” she said to the men that approached us.

Ezekiel is my father, even though she added fathers name to her legal name, she never changed her family name.

The security gestured towards the gate and it opened to a road in the midst of a forest.

“Are you sure they aren’t going to be pissed at us?” I gulped

“Sweetie, you don’t have to be scared. I would never do anything that would hurt any of you” she assured

“Okay” I continued “but how far is this house, we have been driving for like 5 mins since crossing the gates”

“We will reach soon” she stated

“There it is” Reo pointed ahead.

In front of us was a mansion. Mansions are very rare here in Celestia and only descendants of certain nobles had them as their family heritage.

Neither me nor Reo has seen our grandparents yet, we weren’t interested in meeting them either. But right now, as I walk in these big lonely halls, I can’t help but wonder whether they will be happy to see us?

Each corner of the wall was beautifully carved and its designs made with delicacy. A combination of pale yellow and white paint of the halls made it feel warm and cozy.

The glass windows were tall that gave view of the garden view outside.

“Good morning, madame Auden. Its pleasant to see you and your family together here.” A weak voice of an old man brought me back from my thoughts.

Mom smiled.

“My name is Dan. I am the head butler here.” He introduced himself

“Nice to meet you Dan” my dad shook his hand

“Nice to meet you too sir Ezekiel”

“Auh, this must be the beloved kids I have been waiting for” he walked towards us, even though he seemed old he was pretty stout

“Hello, Reo” He extended his arms to hug Reo

“You look like your father, must be the blue eyes”

Reo smiled

And then Dan turned towards me,

“This young beauty must be Ayami” I smiled

“Oh, you look so much like our master when she was younger”

“How do you know us?” I questioned curiously

“How will I not know about the grandchildren of the first-born child of our master. Your grandmother even knows both of your birthdays”

“Oh, I thought she didn’t like us” I faltered

“Oh my! why would you think like that” he gasped

“sure she was a bit bitter to your mother, but she didn’t call out to your parents because she thought they hate her for what she has done in the past.”He continued

I sighed in relief

“Let’s get you all settled in the house” He said as he gestured the maids

The maids showed us our rooms. The room was bigger than I thought it would be with a queen size bed in the middle and a large wardrobe in the side.

 The other side had a door to the bathroom which was almost the size of room back in my home with a giant bathtub. I assumed we were given guest rooms to freshen up before seeing our grandparents, but I noticed something odd. My room contained books that I needed for university and ones that specialized in magic of illusions and its history and I was specializing in illusional magic.

This is some next level preparation for a guest.

I got out of the room to see Reo talking to dan near the end of the hallway. I noticed that the window opposite to my room was very big and gave view to the outside.I decided to wait till they finished talking

 After a few minutes dan left and Reo saw me standing in front of the window.

“Did you like the room?” Reo asked

“Yeah, I like it. Some luxurious arrangements for a guest, like putting up a bookshelf specifically for the person” I said

“I have my room specialized for me to be able to work too” he said “and these are not guest rooms, guests stay at the villa a bit away from the mansion”

“So, these are just for us?”

“Yes”

“Why? We are only here to meet them”

“About that” He paused before continuing “Apparently we are here to stay for some time.”

“WHAT??”
