In between class periods, I ducked into the girls restroom to tighten up my chest bandages in front of the mirrors. I heard someone follow after me but didn’t think anything of it until I heard their voice.
“Liking all the attention, are we?” Priscilla sneered from the sink next to me. I could see her overly-glossy lips turned up in disgust from the mirror next to me. They were alone.
“Can’t you go bother someone else,” I sniped back, fumbling with the clasp in the back. I should have asked Stacy to come help me.
“I saw you flirting with Lucius,” she said, crossing her arms. “He’s way out of your league.”
Ah, yes. The real reason she was here. I guess talking to a boy counts as flirting now.
“I think you’re out of luck. He told me he doesn’t like superficial girls.”
It was obviously a lie. I didn’t care that she liked Lucius. But I also wanted to annoy her as much as possible.
One of these days I’d give her something to complain about. But for now, I couldn’t risk getting suspended from school. I already had two infractions afterall…
Priscilla laughed and rolled her eyes.
“You’re such a desperate liar. Keep telling yourself that.”
Furry rose up within me. If anyone was desperate, it was her.
She still had the impression that I liked him, but it was him following me around.
Finally. I got the clasp of my bandages fitted and tugged my shirt down, brushing past a huffy Priscilla and pushing my anger aside.
After my near-death-experience, dealing with insignificant problems like her seemed trivial.
