His voice was nothing but a whisper, but it managed to echo in the bath regardless of how quiet he tried to keep it. He was also unsure of whether you heard the sound he made.
And so, you finally blinked. The dusk light illuminated your figure but also accentuated the shadows as if it couldn't decide whether to make you appear handsome or just mysterious. You turned your head away from the window and quirked a brow at Wriothesley. That very faint smile came back again.
Wriothesley remained unblinking as your eyes finally shut for a moment, the small motion going almost unnoticed by him. The light from the stained glass windows added an air of mystery to his roommate's appearance, which Wriothesley found to be quite lovely. When he finally averted his gaze and turned to face you, he also noticed the subtle grin again and the barest hint of a curve on your full lips.
“What?” was all you said, you needn't say anything more.
The one word rolled off your tongue in a certain way that flowed with the atmosphere just right. One of your arms moved to prop your head up as you watched Wriothesley...your irises adjusted every few seconds.
Wriothesley was left speechless, his breath caught in his throat. He was taken aback by the simple "What?" that you uttered, so taken aback that he could hardly breathe properly.
His eyes stayed glued on you, observing every single movement that you made. From the small shifting of your head to the minute changes in your gaze, he looked at everything, as if he were drinking the scene in.
His mind seemed to stop functioning properly... all his thoughts ceased to exist.
